Which team--if any--do you think might challenge the White Sox for the AL Central title the rest of the way? The Sox are good, but they have certainly also benefited from an almost complete failure of the rest of the division to put pressure on them.
Anthony Franco
3:31
Cleveland's the biggest threat but I'd pick the Sox to hang on at this point
Babe Ruth
3:31
Likelyhood Happ and Suzuki recieve QOs and accept?  Who is in the outfield around PCA if they trade Shaw/Ramirez/Alcantara?  Shouldn't they also keep Ballesteros and Ayers to replace Kelly?
Anthony Franco
3:32
Suzuki should get one and reject (assuming he's not traded). It's kind of a copout answer on Happ but TBD based on the final two months
3:33
If season ended today, I would QO him even though I think he'd take it. He's been pretty bad for two months now though and if he doesn't pick up at all down the stretch, that'd flip it for me
3:34
I do expect them to keep Ayers. Probably Ballesteros too but it doesn't seem like they think he can catch so if another team really likes him, could see him moving
Jose
3:35
Is it me or Jeremy Pena an incredibly obvious target for the Red Sox?  The Astros may not move him and he wouldn't necessarily be cheap but he wouldn't be Neto/Abrams cost and if Arias is even close to as good as he's being touted you ride Pena until October (Big Papi willing) and let Arias make his debut in 2027 when Story goes on the IL one final time.
Anthony Franco
3:35
Just don't see any way Houston moves him. If they do, he should at least be equivalent to the Neto cost
3:36
I know the control's limited but Peña's awesome way better player

3:36
What do you think the Rangers would have to give up to make multiple moves like Lane Thomas, Ivan Herrera, and then going big for Skubal?
Anthony Franco
3:38
I can see Thomas as a complementary outfield piece for them (though I'd rather go for Tyrone Taylor since he's a better CF fit). Don't see them as especially realistic suitors for Skubal or Herrera though
3:39
They'd need to commit to Herrera as a #1 catcher, which isn't great since he can't throw. Don't think they have the budget space for Skubal and their system drops off sharply beyond Walcott, who I wouldn't move for a rental

3:40
Do you think Gleyber Torres has enough trade value to snag a decent prospect given his high-ish salary and injury struggles? Any idea of which clubs might be a good fit?
Anthony Franco
3:41
Not really but I've been lower on him for a while than the Tigers seem to be so maybe there's someone out there. The exit velos/power production way down with the injuries this year and there aren't a ton of teams looking for a second base only player
3:42
Rays or Rangers fit on paper but the salary could take him out there. Boston could work if they don't expect Mead back but Gleyber clearly wasn't their first target there
3:43
Phillies maybe but is he that much of an upgrade over Bryson Stott when they have clearer priorities for pitching/outfield? Tough to find a great fit
Josh
3:43
Does Tyler Stephenson get a decent prospect or just a low level flyer?
Anthony Franco
3:44
They should do pretty well for him. Not top 100 or anything but a couple legitimate mid-tier prospects
Defensive rep isn't great but there aren't many alternatives in terms of rental catchers and he's a good hitter for a catcher
Brian
3:45
The Cardinals can probably get Hancock for Herrera. Would the Mariners be willing to trade Kade Anderson for Herrera?
Anthony Franco
3:45
Anderson no but I can see the Hancock/Herrera framework, sure
Casey Mize
3:46
Most of the mock trade activity is for Skubal. But what is a realistic return for me
Anthony Franco
3:47
Back-end top 100 guy should be in play. Pretty similar spot to where they were with Flaherty a couple years ago
Mets reportedly want a top 100 guy for Freddy (which also seems doable) and I'd have Mize above him
hopeful rays fan
3:48
Would the potential draft pick return factor at all into the Rays willingness to go for broke, acquire Skubal, and give him a QO they know he will reject?
Anthony Franco
3:48
Can't QO a player you acquire midseason
Guarded Indian
3:48
Ty France to Cleveland, right?
Wahoo Jr
3:48
who could Cleveland offer to SF for Heliot Ramos ? probably same question to Miami for Heriberto Hernandez but first SF because they are more likely trading away players
Long Suffering Guards Fan
3:48
Anthony, thank you for doing the chat! I'm sure you don't have anything else going on at the moment, haha! Any realistic RH OF adds the Guards can target and please don't say Lane Thomas?
Anthony Franco
3:49
Lol I feel pretty confident that they will not trade for Lane Thomas
3:50
Either Ramos or Hernandez work, as Wahoo Jr. mentioned. Adell seems less likely because they'd probably non-tender him anyway but he's another possibility
3:52
None of those guys are going to command a premium return. Wonder if the Giants would take a flier on Khal Stephen (solid SP prospect who just had UCL surgery) for Ramos given the long-term rotation needs there
Brian Sabean
3:52
With Erik Miller becoming the closer with SF and doing well in that role, does he have any value on the trade market at the moment?
Anthony Franco
3:53
He would but probably not enough that it's worthwhile given the control window and their lack of LH relief generally
3:55
Not easy to find lefties with that kind of stuff but the walks are so high that he'd profile more middle relief for a contender. And if the Giants are getting back a couple lottery ticket types (like the Angels just did for Chase Silseth), better to just keep him
Trout Phishin'
3:55
With the tax penalty and their 29th ranked farm system, the Phillies probably have one maybe two moves?  Who are they most likely to trade for?
Anthony Franco
3:56
I do think they'll make at least three trades to get an OF, starter and reliever but probably not a premium bullpen name. That could just be Schreiber or something
3:58
I'll guess Mize for the starter and Nathan Lukes as a complementary OF. Would try to get a playoff-caliber rental arm and push Nola to the #5 spot

Lots of LHH outfielders out there!
