Anthony Franco

I've never heard anything like this from a cultural perspective
5:06
I do think that Toronto can be a disadvantage in certain situations. U.S. born players may prefer not to change countries all things equal, the fact that's up north could be a deterrent for some players from the South or Latin America where the climate is warmer
But that'd be a small minority of cases and, by and large, the players who can choose where they go typically just follow the money

If the Yankees get Benitendi, where would you hit him in the lineup?
Anthony Franco
5:07
Towards the bottom. Seventh, above IKF and Trevino probably
For Nandez
5:07
Do you think this is the ceiling for Santiago Espinal or is there still room for more improvement?
Anthony Franco
5:08
This feels like the ceiling since he doesn't have much power, but even this is better than I thought he was capable of a few months ago
5:09
A lot of contenders would love to "only" have a slightly above-average player on both sides of the ball as their everyday second baseman
Brewers
5:09
Do you still think that the Cards will run us down? They are scuffling of late.
Anthony Franco
5:09
Yeah this is what I get for jumping off the bandwagon. I'd pick Milwaukee again now
Flaherty was healthy; Woodruff and Ashby were not. Alas...

What would STL have to give up for Murphy/Montas? Is this something you could see Mo going for or will he play it safe with the Perez's of the world?
Anthony Franco
5:10
To get both of those guys in the same package would be astronomical. Something like Jordan Walker plus Matt Liberatore as a starting point
5:11
That's so antithetical to how St. Louis has operated I can't see it happening, nor do I think they should do that. As mentioned earlier, I'd be shocked if they acquired a catcher like that and just relegated Molina to the bench
5:12
Montas alone is more plausible but you're right that a guy like Pérez or Brad Keller feels more up their alley generally

The Giant's corner and middle infielder positions are manned by players with multiple position eligibility.  Please rank the following players as you see fit from a production perspective for the rest of the year: Wade, Belt, Ruf, Flores, La Stella, Estrada, Longoria, Villar, and their physical rehab therapists.
Anthony Franco
5:13
I like Belt, Wade and Flores the most of the group. Longoria's still solid but tough to bet on him staying healthy given the injuries of late

5:14
Anthony, have you heard / seen anything about Samad Taylor being called up by Toronto?
Anthony Franco
5:15
Have not. It's a tough squeeze while they have Collins on the roster but I could see them eventually adding another infielder at the expense of the third catcher
Philly A's
5:15
Does Montas shoulder tightness hurt his trade value?
Anthony Franco
5:16
It can't help obviously but it really depends on how he responds. If he makes two more starts before the deadline and is working at typical velocity, it'll be fine
Ryan

Could you see a Seattle/Arizona deal where the Ms send Arroyo, Stoudt, another top 10-15 prospect, Chris Flexen, and Toro for Ketel Marte and MadBaum? Seattle needs the 2nd base help and they can handle Madbaums contract and upgrade the staff.
Anthony Franco
5:17
No, Arizona just extended Marte this spring and GM Mike Hazen talks regularly about committing to certain core players (Marte among them) and building the culture and fanbase around them
5:18
I don't think he's going anywhere anytime soon, definitely not in a salary dump situation where they do it to get Bumgarner off the books
Geste

Are there any good hitting coaches White Sox could trade for?
Anthony Franco
5:18
Ha I really have no idea what's happened there. Just a baffling season
Will
5:19
What is going on the White Sox rotation?  Giolito and Kopech were both great in April and May; but, since the beginning of June, their numbers have stunk.  Is it them, how LaRussa is using them, or something else?  Thanks.
Anthony Franco
5:21
Haven't looked too closely at this but I can't really find anything with Giolito at first glance. Fastball hasn't been missing bats lately but I'm not entirely sure why. Guessing it's mostly just a slumo
'slumo'
Or perhaps a slump
5:22
Kopech's control has been kind of erratic lately, which isn't too surprising. Velocity's been a little inconsistent which again feels totally fair considering he's adapting to the rotation workload
Brad
5:22
Any 24 team dynasty prospects I should be looking at?
Anthony Franco
5:23
Sorry this is one you'll have to ask Brad. I have no idea what kind of prospect is typically available in a 24-team dynasty league
5:24
Is Warming Bernabel out there? I think he's really good
Carlos Rodon
5:24
The Giants know that I will exercise my opt-out after the season. Since they have lost 14 of the last 18 games & seem likely to fall out of WC race, where will I pitch in August & September? Also what level of prospect could the Giants get in return?
Frank Nitti Ditty
5:24
If the Giants continue to slide and becomes sellers what is a reasonable return for a Rodon/Joc package deal?
Anthony Franco
5:25
Answered the Rodon thing in greater detail earlier in the chat but the quick response is they'd get a lot but I don't think that's on the table yet
Alright, got through everything today for the first time in three weeks
Thanks for hanging out, and thanks as always for subscribing to the site!

Our trade candidates post should drop soon. It's basically done, just touching up the editing and planning the schedule
