This is a good question we don't have a great feel for yet but will have a better idea on as we start to drill down on the Top 50 list over the next month or so
3:53
If I had to guess just based off the NPB numbers, I'd probably peg him around 4/50 right now. But that's really preliminary. We haven't talked to any NPB scouts yet on what his projection looks like. I'll have a better answer for you in 4-6 weeks

Best uniforms last night - Cubs or Reds
Anthony Franco
3:53
I preferred the Reds ones myself
Angels fan

what would it take for Artie Moreno to convince Theo Epstein to come in and fix the Angels. Give him an open checkbook and a piece of the team
Anthony Franco
3:54
Ha yeah it does seem like Theo wants an ownership stake if he's ever coming back to run baseball ops. Not sure how well that'd mesh with Moreno's love for micromanaging

Which SS do you think the Cubs should go after this offseason?
Anthony Franco
3:55
Correa, based on his age mostly
3:56
Turner and Bogaerts are a couple years older and feel squarely amidst their primes -- Turner because his game's so athleticism-dependent, Bogaerts because of the questions about his defense. I think they're better fits for teams with a chance to compete in 2023
3:57
I'm just generally lighter on Swanson than I think the market will be. He feels in that Story/Báez range -- plus defensive shortstop with power but some swing-and-miss concerns -- that I don't love personally but the market really values. I'll probably be lukewarm on that signing for whoever ends up getting him
Dave Roberts
3:57
With some of the pitchers coming back soon who do you think would close for us. Kimberl scares me
Anthony Franco
3:57
(Dodgers)
3:58
I'd probably go with Evan Phillips at this point

What are the chances of us signing a top free agent SS

IF...huge if...Arte Moreno realizes that the only way he's going to keep Ohtani is to go all in for '23, would signing one of the shortstops...Swanson, Correa...and an outfielder who could hit with power (Haniger?) and a #1 starter (Rodan?)...would that be enough to make the team competitive (Luxury tax be damned.)  I know Arte is going to have to choose between doing stuff he hates...signing starters long term and paying tax...or losing Ohtani...Would that be enough to make the Angels competitive...really competitive...in '23?  (And thanks always, Anthony.)
Anthony Franco
3:59
Yeah I mean all this stuff would really help obviously, but there's just nothing in Moreno's track record that suggests they're about to add $70MM to next year's payroll
4:00
If there was ever a time for the organization to blow by the CBT threshold, Octane's final year of arb control would be it. If they signed Correa, Haniger and Rodón, they'd absolutely be legitimate contenders. I just can't see that happening given the ownership track record

What's up with Musgrove?
Anthony Franco
4:02
I don't think there's anything up. He's had a couple bad starts lately but one was against the Mets and another was in Coors Field. He's coming off seven innings of one-run ball, he's still very good
Jean Segura
4:02
$17 million option or $1 million buyout?  Gotta be the buyout right?
Anthony Franco
4:03
Yeah it's hard for me to see them bringing him back there. Good player, but the market hates second basemen and the Phillies have a bunch of hefty salaries already
Steve and I were talking yesterday about how he'd be a good fit for the White Sox at like 2/16
Trea Turner fan
4:03
What will the Dodgers have to offer him to stay. Do you think he wants to stay
Anthony Franco
4:04
I've got Turner around 8/260 right now. As for whether he wants to stay, I generally assume he'll want to sign wherever offers him the most money, since that's the typical process for free agents
4:05
I know there's been some whispers about him maybe preferring the East Coast and perhaps that's true, but that kind of thing often gets overblown or set aside when another team makes a better offer

As I mentioned last week Seattle has a lot of payroll felxability. With that being said there are only a couple sports to fill. One more bat in the outfield and a second baseman. Could you see a situation were a player like Trea Turner or Judge gets a huge front loaded contract? (50 mill 45 40 or so for the first years) That way on the back end theyre able to move the contract if needed.
Anthony Franco
4:06
Sure I think that's viable. Makes sense with the current payroll outlook, as you said
4:07
I think Turner's a cleaner fit from a roster perspective than Judge based on the infield fit

Yanks seem to be slipping. Please predict their finish:

Alright I have to head out a little earlier than usual. Skubal and Giles news just broke and I have to get going on those write-ups. As always, feel free to hit me with stuff on Twitter if I didn't get to your question today
4:11
I'm off next Friday, so I won't be doing one of these. Not sure if Steve or Tim is going to fill in. Regardless, I'll be back two weeks from now
Thanks for all your support and all the questions, always enjoy these!

Have a good weekend, talk to you again soon
