If WRC is an 100 average does that mean if you add up every player in the league that’s what it will come to?  If not how is the average number calculated?
Anthony Franco
3:54
Not how it works, no. wRC+ is a rate stat, so there's no value in adding players' totals up, just as you wouldn't want to add up everyone's batting average
A guy hitting .750 in four at-bats is less valuable than a guy hitting .300 in 500 AB's. It works the same way for wRC+. A 200 over ten plate appearances doesn't mean much, but a 125 over a full season is quite good
3:55
I'm not statically-oriented enough to explain specifically how it's calculated, but the general idea is to look at the league on-base percentage and slugging (with more emphasis on OBP, since that's a little more valuable than hitting for power) and compare a player's respective figures to the league mark
3:56
Then there's a very complicated formula for adjusting for ballpark so the top players aren't all Rockies

Who gets traded in the off season: Bo Bichette, Cavan Biggio, Santiago Espinal, or Otto Lopez? SOMEONE has to go...
Anthony Franco
3:57
Don't expect Cavan will be around next Opening Day. Can't them selling low on Bichette, and they seem to love Espinal as at least a utility guy
Lopez could go, I guess, but he's got an option year remaining, so there's no harm in keeping him around in Buffalo

Name 2023 Pitchers who will be the assigned closer for their team on opening day that IS NOT PRESENTLY the assigned closer for their team.

Man this is a tough question haha

Kirby Yates, maybe the Tigers trade Joe Jiménez somewhere he can close, Evan Phillips?

I am worried about Carlson ROS. In NL only, besides Carrol (can’t afford with FA $ remaining), is there any other call up that will play/ produce more?
Anthony Franco
4:01
Spencer Steer, Esteury Ruiz for the steals perhaps
Twins
4:02
What available free agent 1 or 2 starter would sign with the Twins for 2023?  Three years, big money.
Anthony Franco

Could see that being a Rodón fit if he doesn't like the AAV over a five-year offer

Any news on me yet
Anthony Franco

Nothing specific. Mark Prior told Andy McCullough yesterday that Gonsolin's injury kind of came out of the blue
4:05
Said the team "(thinks) it's minor" but conceded "never know until he gets back"

We are loaded with young players coming up. Who do you think won’t be back next year
Anthony Franco
4:05
Doubt Justin Turner's back. I'd take the field on Trea as well
Angels fan
4:05
Do you like any of the young kids they have now. Everyone is auditioning for next year
Anthony Franco
4:08
Eh unless we're including Patrick Sandoval in this group, not enamored with anyone. I think Ford and Rengifo are viable back-of-the-roster types
Madres
4:08
What exactly has happened to Josh Hader?
Anthony Franco
4:09
No idea, stuff seems mostly the same. Maybe he's tipping pitches?
Twins

Maybe the behind the scenes contract book needs to be written?  Good Subject.

Would definitely be a must-read
Alright that's all we've got today and I have to run anyways
