Do we think that Liam Hendriks is out three weeks...or is he done for the year?
Anthony Franco
4:45
In between. I'm skeptical we see him back in three weeks but have no reason to doubt Hendriks when he says he's not at all concerned long-term
Think they'll probably send him on rehab a couple weeks from now with an eye towards getting him back shortly after the All-Star Break

What should the White Sox do to turn this around? Is Mendick the answer at 2nd base? Or do you think they should leave Burger at 3rd and put Moncada at 2nd?
Anthony Franco
4:47
Mendick deserves a shot over Harrison/Leury at least, but I doubt he's a long-term solution either. Doesn't seem they want to move Moncada off third so it's probably getting a meh stopgap -- Brandon Drury, Adam Frazier, etc.

What would Castillo and Drury cost me. We need to shake up the team
Arty Moreno
4:48
What...no questions about Adell?!
Anthony Franco
4:48
I guess we'll tie these together
4:49
Drury's not going to cost much but I wonder about an Adell/Castillo framework. Angels don't have a single Top 100 guy on BA's latest update. The idea that teams with bad farm systems can't get good players is way overplayed, but without that kind of headliner, they'd basically have to let the Reds have their pick from the system to get Castillo
4:50
If Cincinnati still thinks Adell can hit, he's probably an easier starting point in talks

AL west question. Do you think Kelenic and/or Langoliers will be contributors for their teams this year?
Anthony Franco
4:51
Eh, not really. Kelenic will probably be up late in the year but it's hard to project him being good given the body of work so far
Langeliers is entirely dependent on whether the A's trade Murphy. I find it unlikely

4:51
Who are the best players for the Yankees to target leading into the deadline?
Anthony Franco
4:53
I think they'll be pretty quiet, just as a testament to how good the current roster is. Maybe a depth starter to guard against injuries to anyone in the top five, but I don't know where else you'd say they have a need right now
4:54
The corner outfield, I guess, but Gallo and Hicks are probably more talented than anyone you're reasonably going to acquire at the deadline. Just kind of have to hope those guys play better, and they've started to do so of late

The Jays are playing close to .600 baseball. Yet, they seem to be well short of being real WS challengers. In your opinion, where and how do they find the straw to stir the drink?
Ross Atkins
4:54
Who should I look at to upgrade from Zimmer, at the trade deadline?
Anthony Franco
4:55
I disagree with Paul's characterization. I think they're absolutely World Series contenders, just stuck in a division with a team playing at an all-time great pace right now
4:56
Another team that'll gauge the market for starting pitching with Ryu out and Kikuchi being himself. Position player group is generally fine, although there's room for a better lefty depth outfielder than Zimmer for sure
Maybe they're a fit for Peralta. Ben Games not going to cost much and having an alright year in Pittsburgh
Marc
4:57
No one expected the Cubs to be a playoff team this year, or even come close. I know Ross signed en extension but is his second 10 game losing streak going to affect his job status? They don't have a lot of talent but he just seems to be over his head.
Anthony Franco
4:58
Nah. The roster just stinks, and Hoyer and company know that. If they were dissatisfied with his ability to lead through these kinds of times, they wouldn't have extended him in the first place

How do you see San Diego's outfield shaking out during the next few months?  Trade, Internal Promotions, Tatis, Myers...
Anthony Franco
4:59
In an ideal world you probably get the Cubs to pay down Ian Happ's money so you can stay below the CBT
5:00
But it's probably more likely they add a cheap role player like Yadiel Hernández with the Nats and keep the internal group
Abrams is hitting well in El Paso and will probably be back at some point. At some point you have to evaluate whether he's just better than Grisham right now

Bryson Stott, Rafael Marchan, and Francisco Morales from the Phillies to the Pirates, with the Phillies signing a big name free agent shortstop in the off season. Who says no?
For David Bednar. Sorry.
Anthony Franco
5:01
Too much from Philadelphia's perspective

Is St. Louis overtaking Milwaukee a product of St. Louis surging or Milwaukee slumping? Who do you see coming out on top in the division?
Anthony Franco
5:02
It's a bit of both obviously. I lean STL at this point with Milwaukee losing Peralta for a while. Goldschmidt's playing at an MVP level, Edman and Donovan have quietly been awesome, and at some point you have to think the outfield will get going a little more
Alvin
5:02
Why on earth would the Mariners re-sign Jesse Winker to a second year given his first year has been an abomination?
Anthony Franco
5:04
His batted ball metrics are better than the results so far, plate discipline's still great. He was never really in danger of a non-tender, and at that point, might as well see if you can avoid the arb process altogether
Matt

Should Luis Arraez start at 1B in the all star game?
Anthony Franco
5:04
I'd go Ty France but Arraez should probably be on the team

Who has the brighter future: Dean Kremer or Kutter Crawford?
Anthony Franco
5:05
Crawford I guess since he misses bats and seems likelier to be an ok reliever
