I have never seen another scene like it. Think about it, there has never been another instance where the crowd knew one of the former Steelers greats was playing his last home game. Oh, they might have suspected, but not where the player had already acknowledged this was likely it. I'm glad Ben said that when he did. Gave everyone a chance to honor him and show their appreciation for what he did for 18 seasons the way he deserved. That's what created that scene that everybody will remember.

Chances of resigning Juju?
Gerry Dulac
11:25
Not bad. In fact, I would, based on what I see from that unit

Gerry-  What is your current view on 11 and odds 19 is back next year?  Is 11 viable reclamation project or was his rookie year the best he had to offer?
Gerry Dulac
11:25
11 needs to run better routes, learn to get open and winning more than 1 out of 5 combat catches.

My thoughts on Steelers next year. Sign Marcus Marriotta and let him and MR battle it out. Spend all cap space on O-line. First round LB Delvin Loyd who can play inside or outside LB. I think we have 2 picks in the third round. I say 1 CB and 2 DL. Over next 3 picks. Obviously it’s how the draft plays out. I hope we go all defense in the draft.
Gerry Dulac
11:26
That's a good thought. Too bad the Steelers don't share that
Ted
11:26
What changes, if any, do you expect at offensive and defensive coordinators?
Gerry Dulac
11:29
I think it's possible Keith Butler could retire after the season. And I'll be interested to see what they do with Matt Canada. He has at least a year left on his contract. I can't imagine they want to go through another year of what they saw this year.

Hey Gerry, Thanks for the coverage of the game and huge send-off Steelers Nation gave Ben Monday night. Quite a testimony to the quality of stalwart fans and their affection and gratitude for Ben after such a stellar career. Can you think of any other celebration quite like this for a Steelers player retiring? Thanks
Gerry Dulac
11:29
As I said earlier, never. There was never another instance where one of their former greats let it be known this was going to be the final game at home.

The offensive line played alot better without Green at center. JC held the blocks and opened up lanes for the running game not to mention keeping BR upright. Do you think MT should consider moving Green to another position on the offensive line?
Gerry Dulac
11:31
I think that will all be evaluated after the season, but I do not think they are ready to give up on the idea of Green being their center.

What's your guess on Ben's next career. Coaching, broadcasting, full time Mister Mom?
Gerry Dulac

I don't have one beyond being dad

With your experience and know how how do you see what the Steelers will do for a quarterback next year or will they stay with Rudolph?
Gerry Dulac
11:32
Right now, that is the plan. I've always maintained Mason Rudolph is Neil O'Donnell. You can win 10 games with him but you're always looking for something better

Gerry, our C looked somewhat better on Monday. Has KG been demoted for this Sunday and does this speak to a failed draft pick?
Gerry Dulac
11:33
Green was injured and that's why he didn't play

I think the Steelers are in the second best position in the division relative to QB behind Cincy. Even with nobody potentially I'd rather not be in a spot to give CLE or BALT QBs what they want?
Gerry Dulac
11:35
You don't have to wonder what Baltimore will do. There is NO WAY they don't give Lamar a huge deal. But I think the Browns will wait after next season to decide what to do with Baker, though I won't be shocked if they re-sign him before that.

Good morning Gerry, do you see the “infamous” letdown this week with the Steelers vs. Baltimore the way they have after other big wins this year?   I certainly hope not but unfortunately if you look back at recent history will beat the ravens only to come out totally flat versus Minnesota then we beat Tennessee only to come out totally flat versus Kansas City. Your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
11:36
This is certainly no time for a letdown. If they get hammered on the road again, like they did the past four road games, it's for the same reason -- they're not very good. Will have nothing to do with a letdown.

Gerry, I've heard both that KG would be a good candidate to switch to guard, and that he would not be a good candidate to switch to guard. So which is the correct take? Gracias.
Gerry Dulac
11:37
His natural position in college was guard. That's where he played 27 of his 31 starts. The Steelers think he was a better fit at center.

Gerry, those that say JW has not been given a fair shot must be distantly related to him, no? He has been given plenty of opps, and unfortunately, has shown little. Your position on this matter? Muchas gracias.
Gerry Dulac
11:39
You are correct

Can we credit improvements in the offensive and defensive lines, or was Cleveland just weak on Monday?
Gerry Dulac
11:39
I'm sure the Browns were deflated by being knocked out of the playoff picture the day before when the Bengals beat the Chiefs

Hi Gerry, doesn't is seem that Bush's (not to mention Banner) stay on the COVID list is longer than expected? With shorter isolation times, would have expected him back in time for CLE game. Any insights?
Gerry Dulac
11:40
Nope.

Hi Gerry- Obviously from Monday's results, the zone run-blocking scheme seemed to work a lot better than what was being used earlier. Since the Steelers don't go 330 across the line like some teams (or Alabama for that matter) it makes sense to zone-up rather than trying too one-on-one everything. Worked pretty good for Denver back in the day as well. Will the new OL coach who put it in motion get the permanent job or someone else in your opinion?
Gerry Dulac
11:41
I think there is a good chance he will be promoted to the position.

Hi Gerry, thanks for the chats and Happy New Year to you!  I asked Brian and Ray, and I wanted to get your opinion.  TJ Watt will finally win DPOY.  Do you think he deserves MVP as well if he breaks Strahan's sack record?  I believe Alan Page and Lawrence Taylor are the only 2 defensive players to ever win MVP.  Thanks!
Gerry Dulac
11:43
He does not deserve MVP, not playing for an 8-7-1 team. Plus, voters know a defensive player has his own award -- Defensive POY -- and will not waste their MVP vote on anything other than an offensive player

What’s going with these players?  College players bailing out on their teams and opting out of bowl games. Pro players bailing on their teams by throwing tantrums and forcing their way out.  I do agree with Tomlin about not wanting hostages. You’ve been following football players for a long time and have a “ behind the scenes “ perspective. What has changed or is it just more out in the open now? Is it just that a lot more players are prima donna’s now?
Gerry Dulac
11:45
Today's athlete has changed dramatically just in the past 10-15 years. So much of it is because of the money and social media and their branding. Too many players love the concept of being a professional athlete more so than loving the game of football.

How emotional was Monday night for you covering the action?
Gerry Dulac
11:47
I hate to tell you, but not emotional for me at all. Still, that doesn't mean I didn't appreciate it or like it or thought it was really cool and special to see. It was. It was well deserved for a guy who did what he did for this team for 18 years. And the reaction of the fans, so many staying for nearly 30 minutes after the game to be a part of the final scene, was tremendous

Forgetting anything else this offseason, seems there are three major players that will have major impact on how they draft and how they do next year. Claypool regressed, just soph slump or is he simply a WR3. Bush, injury issues and he will come back looking like the guy at the start of last season, or has he lost a step and is done. Tuitt, is his head in the game to come back or not, he is a difference maker in his prime years. Those are three guys that can be difference makers, okay players, or have zero impact. What would you predict for next season for each?
