OK kids, we're going to fire up the chat in just a couple minutes, so get ready....
Tom - Murrysville

How much will each Steeler get for advancing to round 1 of the playoffs?
Gerry Dulac
11:04
OK, let's get started. .... They will get enough to buy another car.

How is your stress level entering this game? I’m surprisingly relaxed. I think anything now, especially after the past two weeks, is gravy.
Gerry Dulac
11:05
My stress level never chances. Gravy...house money....whatever you want to call it. That's what it is.

Good morning Gerry...is there something we don't know regarding the decision to use Waitman or Harvin in the playoffs? Based upon performance the decision seems obvious, i.e. Waitman > Harvin.
Gerry Dulac
11:05
As Bill Cowher used to say, "The starters are the starters." Doesn't mean it might not change this week.

I feel that we are playing with house money since most of us never expected us to get in the playoffs. How disappointed will Steeler Nation be if we get trounced again?
Gerry Dulac
11:07
They shouldn't be. They should look at it the same way they viewed the last two weeks of the season -- that it's incredible that this team, as bad as it is, is in the postseason.

Hi Gerry, I can't think of many good things about Ben retiring other than not having to hear moronic opinions like " Ben's arm is a wet noodle", "Aaron Rodgers would have won 3 more games with this team", "Ben is hurting young players like Najee, Diontae's and Claypool's development".  How does a leading the team to 7 comeback wins and getting this motley crew into the playoffs detrimental to ANYONE on the team?
Gerry Dulac
11:09
Because those are (pick an adjective) who make those comments and have no appreciation for what they have been and what they are witnessing.

Will Corliss Waitmann be punting on Sunday?
Gerry Dulac
11:09
There's a good possibility

Is it fair to say Anthony McFarland is a waste of a roster spot if he can't get a helmet on Sundays?
Gerry Dulac
11:10
That would be fair. it's also a waste of something else.

If this is indeed Kevin Colbert's last year, is Brandon Hunt his likely sucessor?
Gerry Dulac
11:10
He will be a prime contender. And a good one

Hi Gerry, in Chiefs game a few weeks ago Steelers did not challenge single coverage on the outside by throwing deep ball.  Do you see that changing this week?
Gerry Dulac
11:11
I didn't know you broke down the film to come to that conclusion. But, whatever they did the last time, it didn't work, so they better change what they do.

Should Tomlin be under consideration for coach of the year awards? I'm astounded this team made the playoffs.
Gerry Dulac
11:13
Two weeks ago I would have said absolutely not. I still say no but I get your point about this team making the postseason.

Is Dotson's year likely over?
Gerry Dulac
11:13
Yes

Hi Gerry, thanks for the chats!  You've stated before the Steelers will probably go with Mason as the starter for next year.  If you were the GM, would you take this approach, or would you look for a mid-tier/priced veteran to be the starter (or at least challenge Mason)?  Thanks!
Gerry Dulac
11:15
They have that mid-tier guy to challenge Rudolph. His name is Dwayne Haskins. But they will bring in another QB because they are losing one -- Roethlisberger

The NFL’s guide to statisticians says that “If there is doubt as to whether or not the player recovering the fumble was able to collect himself and make a legitimate apparent attempt to pass, the play shall be regarded as an aborted play. It then adds this exception, “If a defender forces the fumble, the play is not aborted.” Sounds like Watt gets another sack. Do you read it that way too?
Gerry Dulac
11:16
No, I read it that it's an aborted play. No sack

Hello Gerry! with Joe Haeg playing over 300 snaps this year, I heard the Steelers will loose there 2022 5th round comp pick? is this true , could you please explain this crazy formula?
Gerry Dulac
11:20
Comp picks are not determined until after the season and are based on how much a free agent plays and/or if he stays on a roster beyond 10 games. It's a crazy formula, yes,

With not only Stephon Tuitt but Calvin Ridley of the Falcons missing most of the past season due to mental health issues, which unlike a broken bone present difficult issues as to when the player has recovered, are you aware if the league office put out any guidance on not to push a player to return after mental health issues of athletes received more attention in 2021?
Gerry Dulac
11:20
I am not aware of any such thing.

Gerry, Big Ben indicated that Kendrick Green should be moved to guard, which I have been advocating in this CHAT since he was drafted. Why did Ben feel compelled to address this issue in the public arena? Despite what Ben said about Green's prospects at the guard position, this is an amazingly damning condemnixion of Green's performance and his draft standing!
Gerry Dulac
11:21
I think you're looking at it the wrong way. Ben's point was he thinks Green is a very good player and would be a helluva guard. But, yes, that is a backhanded way of saying center is not his best position.

Gerry i appreciate you so much I put you i my will. I'm leaving you my playstation3 and my five year old he talks to much. 😆 Gerry I won't even get into drafting Green but it is mind-boggling to me that he was just handed this job and then never replaced when he was clearly in over his head...thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
11:22
He was handed it for the same reason he wasn't replaced -- they didn't think they had anyone better.

Lots of pats on Tomlin’s back for making the playoffs facing so much adversity, but isn’t he to blame for much of the adversity? He hired Canada and Klem. He handed the starting center job to a rookie who only played the position for four games in college. He stuck with a terrible punter and left Witherspoon on the bench too long. Bush is still playing. I could go on.
Gerry Dulac
11:23
You don't need to. Very perceptive points Utah

Would any of the recent Black Monday coaching releases be likely candidates for defensive coordinator (should Butler not return)?
Gerry Dulac
11:23
Mike Zimmer should be.

Hi Gerry what do think the Steelers will do with Minkah Fitzpatrick’s contract after the season is over do you think we will let him walk or do you think will be able to re-sign him and do you think he will want Jamal Adams type money I would sure hate to see him go because between him and TJ Watt they make the defense ago
