Gerry, best thing about this season was your chats! Thanks for doing them all year. Your fun attitude and sometimes sarcastic answers are what makes them so compelling and entertaining. You are the best!

Bill, I was wondering when you were going to chime in. Thanx for the props.

I’ve seen Butler, Olsavsky, Porter  etc., all removed or pushed out as defensive coaches to never resurface, some by choice? I can never see a scenario where MT gives up control of the defense. He says he is open to change, but is he really!?
Gerry Dulac
10:22
Not the kind that is needed.

10:23
If Justin fields does get signed what do you think the contract would look like?
Gerry Dulac
10:24
At this point, I believe Justin Fields will be re-signed. But I don't think it will be anything crazy
John
10:24
Do you think George Pickens played his last down on Saturday?
Gerry Dulac
10:25
I don't know about his last down, but I'd keep an eye on what the Steelers do in free agency.

Never has an assistant of MT been promoted to OC/DC or HC with another franchise. This is very telling to me. Does he hire buddies and or coaches that won’t challenge him? Or is this a Steelers issue of lack of payroll committment? Thanks

Is Freiermuth really a $ 10 million per year tight end? I think he’s a choker. He dropped the opening pass on Saturday, dropped the pass in the Bengals game that could have allowed for a winning field goal. I recall he once dropped a game winning pass from Ben in the end zone, and fumbled away a chance at a game winning field goal once in Detroit. Don’t you think the Steelers could get a better tight end for much less money?
Gerry Dulac
10:27
If they used him right, he is worth the money

With an OL that has yet to develop, poor offensive schemes and changes of OC. Is Najee really as expendable as they think? 71 games / 71 starts!
Gerry Dulac
10:28
Najee's durability is more than admirable, it's amazing, considering the punishment he takes

Hello . Thank you for the chat . What is your gut feeling about QB ? Is it going to be Wilson or Fields and when would that decision be taken ? Either way, neither Fields nor Wilson is long term solution and they would be better off drafting a QB like Ewers and let him sit for a year , like the packers did . On a side note , borrowing a phrase from presidential campaign of the past , I bet Pickett is asking the question that are you better off now ? I know , it was dumb of him to ask for it but Steelers have put up with tamper tantrums before and  there was no reason to trade him in offseason for a bag of chips . Thank you
Gerry Dulac
10:32
Pickett did it to himself and, yes, he would have been better off staying here. He could've started the first six games and firmly entrenched himself as the starter. Now this.

Do you think the Steelers might try to acquire a talented QB buried in someone else's depth chart and take a chance? For example Joe Milton, Tanner McKee, or Zach Wilson?
Gerry Dulac
10:33
Let's hope not. That's no better option than Justin Fields.

Steelers need a #1 or #1B corner. Jackson is not the answer. DL has to be priority in the draft. Do they get the CB in FA ?
Gerry Dulac
10:33
Probably

Gerry, if Najee does not return next season, at what point do you think the Steelers should/will draft a running back?  It’s my understanding the running back position in the draft is pretty deep.  Thanks.
Gerry Dulac
10:34
They need a RB -- a fast RB who can get to the edge -- and I think they can find one on the third round

The list of headache WRs grows every year under MT. I think Emanuel Sanders might have been the last productive WR they have had that was not a problem child. I know the position breeds malcontents but doesn't it seem like the Steelers have had way more than their fair share?
Gerry Dulac
10:35
It not only seems like it, they have. And, think of all those guys and tell me how many Super Bowls they've been to with those guys? That should tell you what's going to happen with 14.

Hello . Thank you as always . Can you tell me what  OL coach Myers has done to justify being here  ? Both first round draft selections did not perform well and there is a long list of people like Green , Moore and the guy who is playing guard for Rams who underperformed and out of their position here . Why not bring someone like Munchak ? Thank you .
Gerry Dulac
10:38
I would not put Dan Moore, a four-year starter at LT, in a group with those guys. And Fautanu did not perform well?? He was going to be inserted as the starter after one preseason game and got hurt.

Do you anticipate the Steelers making any splashes in FA? If so, who do you think they’re targeting?
Gerry Dulac
10:38
Yes I do. A WR for starters.

Hi Gerry:  how can quality of QB play be properly evaluated w/the poor O-line play of last 3-4 years? Ben's O-line in 2004/5:  Faneca (HoF), Hartings/Marvel Smith (Pro-Bowlers).  Fast forward: Pouncey/DeCastro/Villaneuva...even Kenny P looked good a few weeks ago w/good pass protection.
Gerry Dulac
10:39
And don't forget the lack of quality WRs

Gerry-Gonna miss listening to you on DVE every week. Tomlin said yesterday they're not doing the same things and expecting different results. Any insight on what they're doing differently because it looks like the same old story?
Gerry Dulac
10:41
Thanx...too early to tell what will be done differently. That process hasn't even started. I imagine some coaches might be let go, but nothing significant.

Tomlin seems fond of the expression “leaving no stone unturned.”  Well, when is he going to turn over the stone that leads to innovation on offense and defense?  What’s more, will he actually look at what’s under that stone long enough to implement some of those innovative ideas?  Cheeky, I know, but I would be ok with this team taking some calculated and innovative risks even if it leads to failure rather than the same old conservative approach with barely perceptible tweaks.
Gerry Dulac
10:42
They, though, are not interested in failure, which is why they have never really had it during the regular season with Tomlin. But I get your point.

Making the playoffs is the standard and anything beyond that is gravy. I personally think that’s the wrong goal but I’m just a fan.
Gerry Dulac
10:43
That's not their goal; their goal is the Super Bowl. But right now that is not feasible. It would be a good step to see them win a playoff game.
Jackson
10:43
Hey Gerry.  While some people are talking about Najee’s imminent departure, I’m concerned about Warren’s future.  Any idea what kind of money he’s looking for?
Gerry Dulac
10:45
I don't think it will be big money by any stretch. He is a restricted free agent and I'm sure they will tender him an offer that will make it unreasonable for another team to approach him (not that someone would).

Gerry: Do you think that one of the changes that the Steelers should consider is changing the cliche "body type" that they seek for certain positions?  Some of these molds are so outdated.  Since having Mel Blount 50 years ago, they have sought bigger tougher corners over maybe guys that can you know cover.  They pass on strength and explosiveness on the DL for guys that are long like Aaron Smith or Cam.  Their ILBs have to be small and quick instead of guys that can maybe tackle.
Gerry Dulac
10:47
I get your point, but I think your examples/comparison are not on point
