Good morning Gerry. To keep or get rid of Canada has been talked about often, and rightfully so. Do you think the Steelers will finally buck tradition and hire an OC with NFL experience? Thanks for taking my question
Gerry Dulac
10:13
The question is when ...in 2024?

Gerry, I am not aware of anyone in Pittsburgh suggesting it, however, outsiders are insisting Byron Leftwich is the replacement for our OC. Why would that be? The complaints of his offense are the same as ours: not enough scoring, predictable, boring, etc., etc. If he is fired for that, why would we or anyone want him?
Gerry Dulac
10:16
Oh, they are here in Pittsburgh, too. I like Byron a great deal -- personally and professionally -- but his stock got hurt this year by what the Buccaneers put on tape. Now, I'm sure a lot of what was being called with all the short, quick throws was done to protect Brady, just like what we saw last year with Ben. The only time you saw Brady attack downfield is when he had to if Tampa Bay was trailing. Your point is well made

Hi Gerry.  It's clear that if the Steelers can reinforce the roster they currently have by drafting and signing free agents for the obvious positions of need, they can compete for a title.  My question is this: Have you seen enough of Kenny Picket to believe he has what it takes to be a top tier NFL QB?
Gerry Dulac
10:19
I don't think the Steelers are ready to compete for a title. I don't think they're ready to compete with the Bengals for the division title. So it's not clear to me. I want to see a second year of Kenny Pickett -- or anybody -- before I start handing out bouquets. But I think he can be a very good QB in the NFL, based on what I saw this year.

In the 35 Games since Matt Canada has been offensive coordinator the offense itself has scored 20+ point only 12 times, yes the offense looked slightly better the second half of the season but more of that was due to Najee getting healthy and Picketts natural development. Why is there even a discussion to keep Canada?
Gerry Dulac
10:19
That's what a lot of people want to know. In the two years he has been OC, the Steelers have averaged 19.1 points per game

Kaboly reported that Tomlin has been dealing with personal issues and that there could still be changes coming as hes coming back, is there still hope that change involves OC?

There's always hope, I just wouldn't get yours very high

Good Morning, Gerry!  Could you list the positions that most likely will be filled in FA and those that most likely will be filled via the draft?  Me: FA: ILB, Edge, LG. Draft: OT, CB, TE, ILB
Gerry Dulac
10:22
I don't think you will see the Steelers be very involved in bringing in outside FAs. I think most of their attention will be focused on deciding what to do with those guys they brought in last year on one-year deals -- Ogunjobi, Kazee, Edmunds. As for the draft: OT, DL, CB

It’s interesting to note the comparison of Brock Purdy and Tom Brady. Both were late round draft choices and thrust into starting roles due to injury. I’m not saying he’s the next Brady but he’s off to a good start. Is he really this good or is he just benefiting from being on a good team?  If he’s this good, how did all the teams miss drafting this guy? He certainly looks better than the guy the Steelers took in the 7th round.
Gerry Dulac
10:25
Same way they missed Brady and Montana. But it does help that Purdy is on a team that has many varied weapons on offense and a stingy defense. And you think he's better than Chris Oladokun??

Good morning. Question. Can you recall a time in the past where much of the local media seems to be anti-Steelers/Tomlin/Canada? And I don’t mean that they aren’t homers or schilling for the club. I mean we have a whole radio station that seems to have personalized their thoughts and opinions and if a media member or fan doesn’t agree, they consider them naive and make fun of them. Why are so many media members actively campaigning AGAINST the Steelers? Thanks.
Gerry Dulac

Alan, I suggest you listen to a different radio station

All things being equal, what position do you think the Steelers will address in the first round of the draft. Also, do you see the Steelers spending money on a big time free agent, or sprinkling the money around like last year?
Gerry Dulac
10:28
They never spend money on a "big-time" free agent and they're not going to start now. And I wouldn't call what they did last year "sprinkling the money around" when you look at the deals they gave Trubisky, Daniels, Cole, Ogunjobi and Jack.

Hello Gerry, any truth that the Steelers are putting any possible changes on hold while Tomlin deals with a person matter?
Gerry Dulac
10:32
Just so everyone knows, Tomlin's "personal matter" does not have anything to do with him, his health, or his immediate family. It is just something to which he had to attend. He is back in the office. And I also will tell you that any significant decision with his coaches has already been made.

IMO With TJs recent injury history and the premium on the position.. the. Steelers should take an OLB In first four picks.. What say you?

10:32
Nope. Waste

In your opinion who was the Steelers best OL man this year?
Gerry Dulac
10:33
Pick among Cole, Daniels or Chuks

10:33
I’m of the belief that there are bright young offensive coaches out there who are ready to become an offensive coordinator. Just look at the current list of head coaching candidates who are currently young coordinators. Am I wrong about that or do the Steelers simply not make the effort to go out and find one of those guys?
Gerry Dulac
10:33
You are not wrong

What is the positional outlook for DeMarvin Leal moving forward? Is he a tweener? Is a defensive lineman? Is he an outside linebacker? Really seems like might could lose some weight and be an edge. Not sure he can fill out at 290-plus and hold it in the mold of Cam Heyward and Stephon Tuitt when he was here. He played on his feet a bunch as a rookie. What are your sources telling you, Gerry.
Gerry Dulac
10:35
He is a defensive lineman who can be used a myriad of different ways because he is so athletic. I don't think you will see his future at OLB, but, to your point, I think he would be a very good 4-3 defensive line. What are they telling me? That he will be very good.
Thomas Arnold
10:35
Who do you think are the top free agents that need to be resigned?
Gerry Dulac
10:36
Sutton, Ogunjobi, Kazee, even Edmunds
Money man
10:37
Good story on Steelerss having to ante up for Sutton. But Highsmith is also coming off a career year and entering the final year of his contract. Could be hard to keep him wit the premium teams place on pass-rushers. Won't be easy to do. With only about $20M in cap space, might need to create more with "simple restructurings" of Watt and Minkah, but that just kicks the can down the road on their contracts, makes them more costly in subsequent seasons, right?
Gerry Dulac
10:38
Thanx, but that wasn't me, that was my colleague Ray Fittipaldo. Look, Cam Sutton is not going to break the bank. If they want him, they will find a way to re-sign him. If they prioritize him with Edmunds, Ogunjobi and Kazee, he would be No. 1
