88 has started 17 or 33 games.. What is level of concern on availability and adding another TE? Thanks
Gerry Dulac

None. They like Connor Heyward a lot.

What do you think of the Steelers going after Jeffrey simmons or Jalen Ramsey and trade the 32 pick for one of them I feel we haven’t had a good corner since Ike Taylor this would be game changer or Jeffrey simmons to put on the other side of cam heyward

I think it's something they won't consider, and I wouldn't either. Plus, neither of those players would command anything less than a No. 1 pick.

All that we've heard about is replacing Matt Canada.  What about Danny Smith?  Special teams have been an issue for some time.
Gerry Dulac
10:41
Yes they have

A lot of my Yinzer friends are lobbying for Leftwich as OC. Leftwich had the worst running game in the NFC this year. That disqualifies him in my book. Steelers want to emphasize the running game as much as improving the passing game. Do you agree Leftwich's running history is disqualifying for the Steelers?

He is not a candidate, trust me

What changes/upgrades would you make if you were the GM?

A young stud on OL and DL, a shutdown corner. Easy to say, hard to find/

Hello Gerry, Apparently Matt Canada is staying put. I don't think that is such a bad move. I see the opportunity for Canada and his players to grow together. The last half of the year was encouraging. Growth thru continuity and success will result in more trust in Pickett and Co. So too more will go with Canada and opening up the "O", which I think Canada is capable of. What say you?

Jim, I would say you are in the minority with your thinking, even though it is not far-fetched, apparently, from what they are thinking.

A Raven defender was running hard down field to try to prevent the fumble from becoming a TD, and he was pushed in the back. No flag! How could any referee miss this obvious penalty? Are we doomed to mediocre officiating no matter how many comment on it?
Gerry Dulac

I disagree with people who think that was a flagrant block in the back. That was more from the side.

If the Steelers defense didn’t play so well the past two months the anemic offense wouldn’t look quite as good.  How can the Steelers look at 2 years of Canada game tape and think he’s the solution ?

A question for the ages.

Larry Fitzgerald ran down the field out of bounds to try to stop Harrison's interception TD run in the Super Bowl. Had he succeeded and stopped him from scoring, even though the Cardinals were on offense, would that be considered a defensive penalty and trigger an untimed play?

Good question, good memory. If it was a penalty against the team not in possession of the ball, it would have been treated as a "defensive" penalty

Any insight about why Tomlin's decisions are currently on hold?
Gerry Dulac
10:47
See earlier answer. And not all decisions, if any, are on hold

Do the Steelers as presently constructed have the secondary to stop the Bengals over the next few years ?  And do you think there is a shutdown CB in the draft even if they have to trade up a few spots ?
Gerry Dulac

Shutdown corners are not plentiful, but the elite ones, for the most part, have to be found early in the first round.
OK kids, we're out of time. Thanx for all the questions.
