Hi Gerry.  As long as MT remains the coach, with his merry band of misfit coaches, the Steelers will resemble the Pirates more than the Penguins. When will Art’s son be ready to take over the team?
Gerry Dulac
11:37
I think the Pirates should come up with 15 consecutive non-losing seasons before you make that compsarison.

Good morning Jerry! I am concerned the Steelers will move forward with Rudolph & Haskins as options 1A & 1B in 2022. With Ben’s arm strength showing severe decline in the last few years, were they really not the better option, or was it a matter the team letting the old cowboy ride into the sunset even with a diminished skill set?
Gerry Dulac
11:37
It was a matter of playing the QB who best can help you win, which is what you and everyone else will painfully discover in the years to come without that cowboy.

Could Trey Lance be on their radar?
Gerry Dulac
11:38
Not at all. What makes you think that?

With GM leaving, Keith Butler maybe leaving, O-coordinator should be fired, Ben retiring, and an under performing MT (for 10 years); wouldn't this be about the only logical time to blow it up and start over? New GM, HC, OC, DC? That way they can draft and plan from scratch instead of this patchwork team we have now? Obviously keep TJ, Cam, Harris, MF, and those types.

Well, I will point up they probably think the exact opposite -- with so much change and upheaval, it's even more important than ever to keep the head coach who has never had a losing season in 15 years on the job. That stability is needed more than ever. That's why they think.

Gerry has the lone the Steelers are great at drafting receivers kind of overblown given very few - Ward AB and S Holmes are the only 3 who received second contracts from the Steelers.  And of those who left only E Sanders really enjoyed success elsewhere.  Isn’t test an indication Ben made good receivers great and great receivers generational, the way guys like Brady Rogers Marino etc did with their receiver groups.

Great QBs make average receivers better. Great receivers don't make average QBs better.

Hi Gerry, Do you think one of the top Quarterbacks will fall to the Steelers at #20 and do you think they would actually take him?
Gerry Dulac
11:42
No. Top QBs don't fall in the first round. That's why they're top QBs.

Gerry hope your staying warm bud, Golf weather soon. With all this talk about QB in the draft do you feel it’s misguided since we have so many other needs first. OL, DL, ILB, CB, S to name a few.
Gerry Dulac
11:44
You can stop at OL and DL. They were dominated on both sides of the ball most of the season and they know it. You can blame injuries to Tuitt and Alualu on the D-line, but those only exposed the lack of young, talented depth. They need to re-stock

Gerry, I hope that the Steelers don't take a QB in the 1st Rd (unless K Pickett is available (I'm a homer)) as they have too many needs: DL, ILB, CB, S, OL, WR that need filled b4 looking at QB's. What say you?
Gerry Dulac
11:45
I say you're right about DL. Better move OL up, tho.

Good Morning Gerry! Do you think the Steelers this year should focus more on their Offense and Defensive lines in the draft and also free agency?
Gerry Dulac
11:45
Gee, I haven't mentioned that before.

GM Gerry, top center, top tackle, top d lineman and a qb they love all sit at pick 20.  What position is on the card that you turn in?  Btw, thx for a great year of chats and coverage.  Enjoy your insight.
Gerry Dulac
11:46
Well, that's a different argument if there's a QB they love. For example, last year, if Najee was off the board and Justin Fields were there at their turn, they would have jumped all over Fields because they liked him so much.

Hi Gerry!  Why do the Steelers have one good running back but most contenders have at least two? Why do the Chiefs, who draft very late, have two really good inside linebackers but a first, second, third and whatever for the guy from Jacksonville produced two bad ones?
Gerry Dulac
11:47
Maybe because they invested in a better offensive line.

Hi Gerry:  Thanks for the wise chats.   One would have been called crazy predicting the 2021 Steelers would beat the Ravens and Browns twice, two division winners-Titans and Bills, and make the playoffs with 5 Rookie starters (including Harvin).  That said, based on what performance metric was Canada Not among the worst OCs in the NFL?  Doesn’t he define “junior varsity?”

And with that, I'll pay the man, and say goodbye!!

Gotta run kids. Let's try it again next week.
