Hi Gerry. Former head coach Jimmy Johnson said a few weeks ago great players make great coaches. The teams who are still dancing have great players. So is Mike Tomlin the "General Manager" more to blame for the Steelers performance more than Mike Tomlin the head coach?

Jimmy Johnson is correct. I think his comment was "it's the Jimmys and Joes, not the Xs and Os."

What is the likeliness of the team sigining Fields before tamper or free agency?

I'd say pretty good

Are Minkah and TJ washed?  They seemed to both disappear.

Gerry, thank you and the PPG staff for hosting these chats weekly and during the games. They are fantastic and often therapeutic!

Hey Gerry - I don’t think the Steelers have made very good choices on where they have decided to spend their money lately. If you look just at players who got second contracts and free agents, not players on their rookie deals, how many current players (with their contracts) would other teams want? Watt, Boswell, Elliot, and maybe queen. What are your thoughts? Thanks -

I disagree. I think they've have been very judicious and understanding of how to spend their money.

Hi Gerry, while I find the Steelers' offense to be unimaginative, Tomlin's extreme focus on winning the turnover battle really came to light in last weekends games with the top two offenses in the league committing a combined 8 turnovers and both losing.  Does MT need to loosen up or does he simply need better execution from his players?

The Steelers are a turnover-reliant team, meaning they are not good to simply line up with the best teams and beat them straight up. Think of it this way -- if they were a golfer, they be a 4-handicap and need strokes.
OK, kids, that's all the time we have. Good way to spend a cold morning. No chat next week. Off to find warmer weather. Be back soon.
