If JuJu leaves, they will definitely draft a WR in the first three rounds. They never turn their back on a skill player they like. But that's also why they should re-sign JuJu and not worry about that right now. They have more urgent needs to fix this team. Imagine leaving that WR room to 11 and 18??

Bes was considered one of the top QBs in the league when he went down with his elbow injury. Sharp decline after. More to do with age or the injury. I know probably a combo of both but his arm strength seemed fine but accuracy off. I don't remember him being all that much more mobile in 2018

I don't know about that sharp decline stuff. You forget the first 11 games back last year when he was undefeated and being mentioned as an MVP candidate??

Hello. Thank you as always for the chat. Should we be worried about losing Brandon Hunt to Raiders ? He is interviewing for GM job with Raiders. Thank you
Gerry Dulac
3:03
No.

Steelers are comfortable with special teams coach?
Gerry Dulac
3:04
Apparently. He has the right background.

Odds Haskins beats out Rudolph (assume no we free agency or draft)?
Gerry Dulac
3:04
Better than you think.

It seems the Steeler staff is being criticized for being proactive in bringing in 2019.  Why is it a bad thing that they are grooming him as a DC.  Good succession planning is planning ahead... if this was the case, and they knew Butler was coming upon retirement... isn't it better to groom someone (would folks be feeling the same way if we Austin in now as DC)... aren't we better off having him here a few years, and knowing the players?
Gerry Dulac
3:06
Right. Steelers are criticized for not having a succession plan at QB. But when they have succession plans on the coaching staff they are criticized for being cheap, short-sighted and too familial.

Gerry, I for one would like you to block all questions relative to Tuitt's reason(s) for being off this past season, as I am tired of the questions which are rather personal.

Would Ben consider playing for another team or is he retired?
Gerry Dulac
3:07
No. He has told me he will not play for another team.

Over the years does Tomlin look more worn down to you and does he have the energy for a full rebuild?
Gerry Dulac
3:07
No. One thing he has for sure is boundless energy.

Rebuilding and turn arounds do not take long in the NFL.  Case in Point - The Bengals - with a great QB of course.  In your opinion, does this force a QB in round 1 this year or next, even if a sure fire prospect does not exist?   As you have stated often, the team is not getting one of the old high priced QB's and the trash heap bin is not the answer over Rudolph.
Gerry Dulac
3:09
With a great young QB, two great young WRs and a good running back. But, if there is not a sure-fire first-round QB, they ain't taking him, trust me. They've reached enough with Artie Burns, Terrell Edmunds and Jarvis Jones.

Think you're wrong about the Rooney rule compensatory picks:

Thanx for the update!

HCs (Payton, Holmgren, Reid) call offensive plays all the time, Belichick calls defensive plays, this storyline is much ado about nothing. Tomlin called plays for a great defense last year until Dupree and Bush were hurt.
Gerry Dulac
3:12
It is his prerogative. And Keith Butler said as much. People seem to think Butler told me that in anger, that he threw Mike Tomlin under the bus with that comment, and that is not true at all. Sure, he would have liked to call his own plays. But he wasn't bemoaning, just stating the obvious.

Given Rudolph and Washington's history together wouldn't it make sense to re-sign him rather than let him walk and perhaps trade Claypool away for some decent draft picks?
Gerry Dulac
3:12
Nope. Time to part ways.

It feels like 1984 all over again. Bradshaw retired and Marino, Elway, and Kelly were just getting started. Is there any hope it won’t take another 20 years?
Gerry Dulac
3:12
Can't make any promises.

I don’t have much heartburn with Canada staying. He had a lot going against him this season and if Rudolph, or Haskins, is the likely starter next year, why add the complication of learning a new system?
Gerry Dulac
3:13
So, just stick with a bad system???

Bush has a problem 'filling' ... in that most ILB's come forward to a gap.  Bush rarely does and that makes him an easy block and just opens up lanes... I don't see him as a good ILB at all ... fair?
Gerry Dulac
3:13
That's part of the problem with these 225-pound ILBs that seem to be in demand these days in the NFL.

Hi Gerry, value the time sir.  Is Art concerned the fanbase is going to become more absent from TV Stadium / Ben/ Tomlin operations snafus, will he move on in the next few years or sooner?
Gerry Dulac
3:15
I don't know what exactly might concern him, but I'm sure the decreased attendance and smaller TV numbers do concern him and should concern him.
Jones
3:15
I supported bringing Ben back and I regret using the word sharp decline as I still think he can play but there was some decline there
Gerry Dulac
3:15
I hear you. Hey, he's not 27 anymore. Not everybody can look like Brady. In fact, nobody ever has.

Gerry  can the Steelers start cutting players now to fee up more cap room, or does that have to wait til March?  thx
Gerry Dulac
3:16
They have time but they save more money if they cut them before June 1
Eric

Would the steelers consider trading back in the first round to accumulate picks and fill more holes? Have they ever dropped back in round 1?
Gerry Dulac
3:18
I think they dropped back when they took Casey Hampton in 2001, from 16th to 19th and picked up a couple extra picks, one of which allowed them to trade up in the second round to get Kendrell Bell.
