Was he involved in Deflategate??

Highsmith bigger and better against the run. Freiermuth value just went up. Certainly not saying he should be traded, but does Herbig have the most upside and trade value of any on the roster? Would assume he wants to start and OLB is currently a deep position. What say you?
Gerry Dulac
12:05
I agree with all your points, except the trade Herbig part. Great backup. Keeps getting better

Good morning Gerry, it’s cold here in the south too. The draft and FA options at QB not looking strong this year, Malik Willis, I remember Tomlin being strong on him in the draft. Possibility or another potential Matt Flynn big dollar bust?
Gerry Dulac
12:05
Alan, unless I'm mistaken, the guy who purportedly like Willis is gone
Not GMs
12:05
Do you think Fantasy Football is the main reason so many fans think they're qualified to be GMs?
Gerry Dulac
12:06
Absolutely. Undeniably. Without question
Draft Needs
12:06
After QB, though I think WR is a big need, I believe DL is also a big need.  Which is a bigger need in your opinion?
Gerry Dulac

We all can agree the offense will be better. Anyone saying the Steelers will go 5-12 is clueless. Roster is too good, but not good enough. MM also has to win out of the gate, or the natives will be even more restless than with the hiring. Steelers will be in the layoffs and will see what happens from there. Thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
12:07
They won't be 5-12, 6-11 or 7-10. Write it down.

12:07
Hey Gerry. With the Pats turning their football world around so quickly, what is a reasonable expectation for something similar for the Steelers? Not even Super Bowl but 2 playoff wins.
Gerry Dulac
12:08
It's not unreasonable. They've been in the playoffs 5 of the past 6 years so it's not like they're destitute

oops hit send to soon. When McCarthy at his introduction presser yesterday announced that he will be calling the offensive plays , I just wonder would that keep some potentially excellent OC's from wanting to come here, or is it the normal procedure during a game? Thanks
Gerry Dulac
12:08
They have an excellent OC -- McCarthy
Don Coryell
12:09
Why would any  quality offensive coordinators that are established/proven, or even the younger/ innovative coaches, be attracted to the role of offensive coordinator for the Steelers with the announcement by Mike McCarthy that he will be calling the plays? Are they  looking for the next Eric Bieniemy?
Gerry Dulac
12:09
They won't be and they're not looking for them. They have one.

We seem to think having a McVay guy is going to guarantee success. These staff members aren’t McVay or they are not Shanahan. Aren’t first-time coaches more likely to fail than be a smashing success? Look at McDaniel in Miami. How about Vrabel as well. Considered a bust in Tennessee and now off to the super bowl. Do you think McCarthy, with a couple dynamic coordinators – especially the DC - can be a really good decision for the Steelers?
Gerry Dulac
12:10
More of the first-time hires are fired than retained. And he only needs one coordinator -- defense

Hi Gerry. Well we all know the status you have among the sports writers with you leading off the questions yesterday. I believe Rodgers will sign for one more year. Do you think he'll announce his decision sooner than he did last year?
Gerry Dulac
12:12
Maybe sooner than last year...maybe. Still doesn't mean it will be soon. We kinda see how he likes to take his time. A little zeitgeist in there
JB
12:12
Please tell me Gerry that the Steelers will go WR then CB in the first 2 rounds this year of the draft.  If not that, then CB then WR.  If the Steelers can get another lock down CB it would go a long way to shutting some of these passing attacks down.
Gerry Dulac
12:13
If you haven't seen by now the need for a top WR, then you're not paying attention.
Golferman21
12:13
Hey Gerry- It seems you always get the first question at the press conferences . Are you now Steeler royalty or Berts best friend?  Give me one of your smart ass answers please!
Gerry Dulac
12:14
Whatdya mean 'now?'
Golferman21
12:14
Het Gerry I thought you reported thatthe Steelers were not hiring any "retreads"?  Is AR2 using you to spread false rumors to control the narratives?
Gerry Dulac
12:16
I don't "report" in these chats. I use them to tease and antagonize, depending on the qualoity of the question. Are you not paying attention?
SMP
12:16
Hello, I have never really watched or heard anything from Omar, so no idea about his demeanor, but just watching the press conference, he looked uncomfortable. It that just his pesonality or did he seem uncomfortable to you with the whole interview process.
Gerry Dulac
12:17
He did not.
Sal
12:17
Happy Wednesday Gerry - nice to see you being recognized among all the media by asking the first question to McCarthy! So, what are your thoughts on who the dc will/ could be? Is that going to happen faster ?? I know McCarthy will be at the senior bowl but the soon the better to build the staff and start evaluations / preparations for the daraft
Gerry Dulac
12:18
He will want to get it done ASAP, but there are procedures/protocols in place for the hiring process, even with DCs
David
12:19
If Rodgers does not come back, which veteran QB do you think they will bring in via free agency or trade? It's clear the organization intends to stay "in contention" every year so a camp battle between Howard, Rudolph and a rookie does not seem plausible from this administration.
Gerry Dulac
12:20
You raise a good point, but I think the last thing they want to do is have a sixth new starting QB in the past six years. That revolving door has to stop at some point, and they know it.

Hi Gerry. Thanks for the opportunity to submit Q’s.  Is it a reasonable interpretation of Coach McCarthy’s press conference comments on the defense to say that TJ Watt is not being traded, as some have called for?  I know it’s early days but I don’t see the Steelers trading TJ…Thanks.
Gerry Dulac
12:22
Fans calling for TJ Watt to be traded doesn't mean he will. The time to do it, though, has passed. His contract is too big and he would not command the trade value he might have if it was done a year ago.

GM Mr. Dulac, I just wanted to thank you and your colleagues for your terrific coverage of the Steelers.  I live just outside Annapolis MD and am deep in Raven country. You all keep me informed and connected throughout the year. I hope there will be a way to move forward come May.  Question, from what you know of Mike MacCarthy and the available prospects in the league do you have any in sight on who he may select for his DC or what type a person he may be looking for?
Gerry Dulac
12:23
Gus, I do not know just yet but I wouldn't be surprised if it's someone who has some Steeler-centric qualities. And thanx for the kind words.

12:23
Gerry, did you vote for Bill B. for the HOF?
Gerry Dulac
12:24
Like I said earlier, it will be an embarrassment to the Hall and the selection committee if he doesn't get in.
Emilio

Hi Gerry, Good morning! I think the Steelers missed a great opportunity. Even if they had found their man, what was the benefit of rushing to sign him instead of taking the once in every 20 years opportunity to learn the insights of how the most successful teams do things and get high quality opinions on how they  could improve the Steelers? Is the front office not interested in learning?
