Why did the Steelers not take the time to interview more coaching candidates? The organization may have benefitted from hearing fresh perspectives on where offensive football is evolving to. This feels like a stale franchise stuck in mediocrity with a new coach very similar to the old coach in terms of results.

I don't call five playoff appearances in six years "mediocrity." How many other teams are "mediocre" like that? Only two teams have had more playoff appearances than the Steelers since 2020. Only two teams have had more than three consecutive current playoff appearances than the Steelers.

Gerry I hope this question isn’t too hard. Can you explain to me why the Steelers and McCarthy see so much potential in Will Howard? If I’m not mistaken he didn’t practice much last year. So what are they basing it on?

Hope presumably. There is nothing to base it on, at least as far as the NFL is concerned. He never appeared in a game, including preseason, and spent half the season as a scout team QB. I'm not denigrating Howard, just saying there is no way to evaluate his true worth until you see him in some type of game. It's like predicting a guy will win the U.S. Open because you watched him hit a lot of balls on the practice range.

if Aaron rodgers does return, do you still think getting a WR early is the play? I always view it as a waste if you don’t have the qb in the room. I’d much rather focus on the o line or other core positional needs like CB/safety if you don’t value this. Gm draft class

MM is an offensive mind. Safe to say more of the salary is gonna start shifting to the offensive side of the ball? Or status quo as the WR position will be on rookie contracts?

Mornin’ Gerry! After watching Mike McCarthy’s emotional comments at yesterday’s press conference I have to believe he will do everything he can to make the Steelers a better team. It’s nice having a true Yinzer back at the helm. His Pittsburgh pride just exudes from him. Lots of angst from the fans. How do feel about the hire?

I like MM and always thought he was an outstanding coach. His record proves that. And his press conference won over a lot of people. Nice to see that from a head coach for a change

Gerry, was Mike McCarthy heading straight to the Senior Bowl after yesterday’s press conference? And if not, does that signal a change in how much the head coach is involved in the draft process. Because Tomlin used to take over the Senior Bowl practices. Reportedly.

Take it all with a grain of salt. They have nothing else to talk about, and being misinformed or whimsical isn't going to stop them. They are paid to paint scenarios. I don't blame them, just be cautious.

Good morning, Gerry. I, like many Steeler fans wanted them to hire a young coach with new, innovative ideas for the team. After hearing Mike McCarthy’s press conference, I think we as fans need to be opened minded about him. While  he didn’t say anything new and exciting during his presser, I think, if given the green light from Art and Omar, he will bring a new dynamic to this organization, especially if he hires quality coordinators and let them utilize their coaching expertise, unlike MT’s philosophy. Thank you.
