OK kids, we're going to start our chat in just a few minutes so get ready....
Me

The Giants 1st and 2nd for Steelers second and AB?  Or maybe even Steelers first and AB?
Gerry Dulac
10:55
Who wouldn't do that...?!?!
Dr. Daniel L. Lau
10:56
Dear Gerry;  With the higher draft pick, is there any chance Steelers will rethink their long term plans for life after Ben at QB?
Gerry Dulac
10:56
If you mean drafting a quarterback....None!!

Good morning Frosty, Can you see a scenario where the Steelers trade someone else (other than AB) possibly one of there DL’s or DB’s? Thanks
Gerry Dulac
10:58
I could see them dealing a defensive back for a low-round pick, but the only ones who would command anything that they might be willing to deal are Morgan Burnett and Artie Burns. And I don't see that happening.

Should Roethlisberger continue his radio career considering all the friction it causes in the locker room?
Gerry Dulac
10:59
Don't kid yourself. It doesn't cause that much friction in the locker room.

With Chris Boswell due a $2 mil option bonus in March is there anyway the Steelers can justify paying that if he is going to be competing for a roster spot, as reported, in Training Camp? Maybe a contract restructure with that money available as incentives since he did not come close to earning what he was paid last season and he would probably get a 1 year minimum salary prove it deal on the open market if cut?
Gerry Dulac
11:01
That's a good question and a big gamble for them. If they pay it, that should tell you their intentions.

Say we get the 1st for AB which I think it is likely given that Golden Tate is the top WR on the FA market and no exceptional WR’s in the draft. How about signing John Brown to be the run fast downfield threat, Ben can hit him, and take a WR in the 2nd/3rd range to develop? That leaves 2 1st rounders to fix the Defense up from rickety jalopy to at least a sporty family sedan.
Gerry Dulac
11:02
If they trade AB, they will draft a WR on the first round, second round for sure.
Dr. Daniel L. Lau
11:02
No I mean they have AB to trade (maybe) so are they happy with their current plans?
Gerry Dulac
11:03
Oh....I think they are happy with the direction of their offense. If they trade him, depending what they get in return, you can bet they will draft a WR on the first or second round.

Prediction time. Will the Steelers win a SB in the last couple of years with Ben?
Gerry Dulac
11:03
As long as he is there, they always have a very good chance.
Me

Any chance AB is back?  I hope not but...
Gerry Dulac
11:04
I see no chance. Nor should he have a chance

With maybe a 2 year SB window with Ben how about throwing some short term contracts at John Brown (fast WR), Dante Fowler (high 1st round talent), and Suh (NT/DT pressure) in addition to devoting our early draft picks CB/ILB to to give us a shot for that elusive 7th ring? Extending Ben, trading AB, cutting Dupree, and letting LB walk or tag/trade would get us the space.
Gerry Dulac
11:05
That sure is a lot of roster upheaval. I like John Brown. You can have the other problem players

With all the negativity going around Steeler Nation, why do I feel optimistic about the coming year?  The Steelers were so close to a divisional championship with one play or call here or there making the difference.  Am I crazy?
Gerry Dulac
11:05
No you're not, not at all.
Matt
11:05
Any good FA RB names out there?
Gerry Dulac
11:06
I havent studied the market. And I don't think they want one.

Gerry, what are the chances that Art II concedes and brings back AB?  Thanks.  Boy did Lefty blow a big one two weeks ago!
Gerry Dulac
11:07
I don't think he will concede. To me, they have NO option but to get rid of him. It is the quickest way to divide a locker room and send the worst possible message to any other player -- that you can do whatever you want and still get away with it.
11:08
Oh, as for Lefty, you're right. Too bad, too.
Matt
11:08
Will Rudolph beat out Dobbs for QB2 this year?
Gerry Dulac
11:08
They will probably let him ascend to that.
Matt
11:08
Dale Lolley put out a good column in regards to how the Rams & Pats build their teams. Steelers were similar minus not as many FA signings & trades. With that being said how about a trade for a RB or CB? Like a Samaje Perine from the Redskins or a Sidney Jones from the Eagles?
Gerry Dulac
11:09
Why do you want a running back?

11:09
Gerry, In your opinion will the Steelers start 2 new ILB’s in 2019? And does VW return to camp wearing his title belt? Thanks!
Gerry Dulac
11:10
Let's hope so. Overall, that was the weakest corp of LBs the Steelers have had in years, with the exception of TJ Watt. But they are especially bad in the middle because neither VW or 51 can cover.
Matt
11:10
Will Steelers resign Jesse James? If not how about one of the TE's from Cincy?
Gerry Dulac
11:10
I think they will because he won't command a  lot of money
Scott in Dallas
11:10
If the Steelers do not get an offer of at least a 1st round pick would it be wise to pay the $2.5 mil option bonus then wait until closer to the draft to trade him once the free agent market has worked itself out and teams are more willing to give up what the Steelers are looking for? Surely that would be a small price to pay for getting a mid-round 1st instead of a 2nd.
Gerry Dulac
11:11
True, but I'm not sure they want to waste $2.5 million
Matt
11:14
Will Ramon Foster leave? I think Finney & Fieler should battle for that LG spot?
Gerry Dulac
11:14
The question is not will he leave? The question is will the Steelers keep him?
