OK, kids, let's get our chat started. I will await your queries....Go!!

Think we cut Ramon? What about resigning Finney?
Gerry Dulac
10:59
I think that is a good possibility on both fronts. Heck, they signed Finney for $3 million last season as a backup. I'm guessing they do it again because he is also the backup center.

Are #1 TE & #1 RB T Top off season priorities since neither Vance or James can stay healthy?
Gerry Dulac
11:01
They are near the top, if not at the top, of the list. Skill players will be a priority in the draft, and that's RB, WR and TE. I think you will see one of the three addressed in free agency, most likely TE, because you can't address each of those in the draft, at least, not with something other than a low-round pick.

How can Peter King not only NOT vote for Polamalu to supposedly "help other candidates" but then doesnt even vote for Faneca? Mind boggling.
Gerry Dulac
11:05
I'm not going to quibble with who he voted for, but the reason he didn't vote for Polamalu. The idea for HOF voting is to vote for the five best players you feel are most worthy. You don't not vote for a player who you think will get in anyway so you can "help" get another player in. I'm not only surprised at Peter, I'm more surprised he would admit to such an unprofessional way of thinking. You don't want to vote for Troy, fine. But don't do it because you are going to presume he will get in anyway. What if 10 voters felt that way and did the same thing and Troy didn't get in. That's what is mind-boggling.

Emmanuel Sanders is open to coming back.  Is that a good fit financially and on the field?
Gerry Dulac
11:06
I don't have a problem with it. Remember, they once brought Plaxico Burress back.

If you were the Steelers brass, would you give up that second rounder for OJ Howard?
Gerry Dulac
11:06
No. I think Howard, but I wouldn't trade away your top pick AGAIN

Many people are suggesting Barron be cut. Watching the games he was a big part of their sub packages. Williams can not cover on passing downs.Do you think cutting Williams would be a better option?
Gerry Dulac
11:07
I don't know if it's a better option, but it might be a more likely option. Williams played a lot fewer snaps than both Barron and Devin Bush this season because of his issues in covering the pass. But he is much better than Barron at stop the run.

11:08
Gerry, what do you think the Steelers do at qb after Ben retires? Do you think they would do what the Chiefs did to trade up for Mahomes or sign a bridge guy like a Tannehill?
Gerry Dulac
11:09
I think they will look for a guy in the draft. I'm not sure they think Mason Rudolph is the guy. But, let me say this -- I believe Mason Rudolph is a lot like Neil O'Donnell in that you can win with him. They even got to a Super Bowl with Neil. But I think they would like to see a little more before thinking Rudolph is THE guy.

what is happening with the receivers coach opening? Will they fill it soon?
Gerry Dulac
11:10
They will. Patience.

Do you see the football HOF voting process getting a face lift in the near future?
Gerry Dulac
11:11
It should after what I heard from Peter King. Not a change of voters. But a reminder from the HOF what a voter's purpose should be -- to vote for the players you feel are most qualified, not trying to help another player's cause.

Gerry , I moved to Georgia for work in 1989 but come HOME often and always for couple of Steeler games. And def. if they are playing in the south. Bad thing is you can't get any good information on Ben's recovery. What's the word on #7. Met him once at Lake Oconee playing golf. Thanks
Gerry Dulac
11:13
There is no much to be said because there has been no stated word on his recovery schedule. He had a meeting with the team's medical personnel this week and will go to LA in a couple weeks to be evaluated by the doc who did his surgery, Neil ElAttrache. It's possible then he might do some very very very light throwing with nothing bigger than a tennis ball.

With a deep pool of WR in this draft, and the Steelers' success in converting undrafted linemen into starters, what would you say are the chances they trade down in the second to try and pick up an extra selection this year?
Gerry Dulac
11:14
Not very good.

11:14
Gerry , oh yeah if you're ever down to Augusta in April we can usually get tickets to the National. Traded them for two box seats to Playoff game at Heinz field several years ago.
Gerry Dulac
11:14
Good move. But I have managed to get in for 26 years now so I'm good. Thanx.

It's never been the Steelers way to go all in on one season. So guessing they stick to what works. Fill holes in FA they don't think they can in the draft. My question is how the FO wants to build this team. Do you seem the devoting more resources to other players, knowing that in 2 years, Ben's contract is off the books and it's just hard to find a true franchise QB?
Gerry Dulac
11:23
I don't think anything is going to change in terms of how they do things. But, I will say they kinda went "all in" last year when they traded up in the draft to get Bush and then traded away a No. 1 pick for Fitzpatrick. Now that's a bold departure for them, making two moves like that in one year.

Do you think getting into the HOF will open the door for Troy's relationship to improve with the Steelers?  Or do you think he's just removed himself completely and will stay away as he has in the past?
Gerry Dulac
11:28
Troy does not have a bad relationship with the Steelers. When Troy was done playing, he was done with football. And I'm not surprised. This is a guy who never watched football on TV when he was playing and I can promise you, other than maybe a Steelers game or portions of it, he has never watched a game since. Props to my radio partner Dale Lolley for talking to Troy after the HOF vote in Miami and getting to the bottom of this question. Ryan Clark said to me on Saturday night after being with Troy that the HOF vote is "pulling him back in" when he was trying to just walk away. It had nothing to do with animosity toward the Steelers or the organization. I don't think this means Troy is going to start coming around again. But I do think you will him when the Steelers honor him with his HOF jacket this season.

How big of a say does Big Ben have in offensive line personnel decisions? Would they bring him in on interviews with potential draftees?
Gerry Dulac
11:29
None at all. Ben is not a scout. He's a player.
Yuri
11:29
Hi Gerry...do you think Finney will be with the Steelers this upcoming season?  Thanks.
Gerry Dulac
11:29
Yes. Solid backup who can play two positions. Unless of course someone wants to pay him more than $3 mill a year in free agency.

11:29
Hi Gerry..I believe what Peter King said was a cop out..because he believes what many other media do..too many Steelers in HOF..Peyton Manning is up next year..will he not vote for him because he thinks he gets in anyway?
Gerry Dulac
11:30
You're wrong about the first part, but, if he applies the same logic with Manning as he did with Troy, right about the second part.
Derick
11:30
Gerry, I totally hope Big Ben makes a full recovery, but how much latitude will he be given by Steelers brass?  In other words, if he believes he can still throw, but they don't see it, would they cut him?  Or do you think he is the kind of person who would know that and retire before that road would even need crossed?
Gerry Dulac
11:34
Well, the Steelers are not going to cut him. And Ben is going to give his recovery a full commitment. But, I think if he sees his arm does not have the same velocity, they won't have to tell him. He will tell them he's had enough. But let's let this play out before all the what-ifs

11:34
Do you think we can get LeVeon back?  I know it would be awkward, but he would instantly make the offense dangerous again
Gerry Dulac
11:35
I wouldn't rule that out. Not saying it could or will happen, but it is more likely than the Steelers EVER taking Antonio Brown again, which isn't saying much.

I’m probably missing something, but i thought we would have 20 plus million in salary cap after the dead money fell off at the emd of the year from AB contract?
