The Steelers don't rebuild. And why would they let the most important player on their team get to the final year of his contract? No team in the league does that with a franchise quarterback. Why, you seeing some drop in his performance??

It wouldn't surprise me if they did. Neither would it if they kept him. A lot will depend on what they do w Marcus Gilbert. That's the bigger question. They're not going to let both go.

I still think a No. 2, for sure a No. 3, is still on the table. But, I will tell you, he is only hurting himself in terms of teams lining up to get him.

what happens to Bostic and Burnett?

I'd sign a top CB in free agency and draft the ILB high, first or second round. But I think you will see one of the two positions addressed in free agency, and addressed in a significant way. As for Bostic and Burnett, they are solid backups. Pricey for backups, but solid.

Well, there's no way they are going to pay him $9+ million this year for what he does. I think they restructure and lower his cap hit/salary.

Long, serious question about Tomlin. It seems like the Steelers most recent Super Bowl runs were due to Dick LeBeau and his #1 in the entire NFL Steeler defenses. What exactly does Tomlin contribute?  In your opinion  how would Tomlin have fared walking into the normal new head coaching conditions of inheriting a 3-13 team or worse? In another world what could Tomlin have done with the Rams if he took over instead of Sean McVay ?

I can't answer that question, but Tomlin inherited a good defense and good coaches when he arrived. Obviously, inheriting a 3-13 team would have required big changes and significant turnover. He didn't have to do that. You can't blame him for not inheriting a mess.

Gerry, Am I wrong in thinking that the AB drama/team coverup went all the way back to camp when he left to have a "quad injury" looked at back in Pittsburgh.  Kind of amazing they won a single game with this much baggage week in and out.  What do you think?

Something no one is addressing is if the Steelers Transition Tag Bell, and the market is lower than what he 'thinks' it is and the Steelers match his offer--can he walk out again on the season?  My understanding of the TT is the Steelers can match the offer, but I guess that is no guarantee he would show up? ??

That is correct. But they have no intention of tagging him to keep him. They don't want a third year in a row of that nonsense.

No he hasn't. But I also don't think Ben will throw as much as he did this past season. It's human nature -- You look at everything when you miss the playoffs. I'm sure the run-pass ratio is part of it.
