Hey Gerry Greg Jackson from McKeesport!! How are you doing?? Living in beautiful Florida now, what are the Steelers plan on doing for the draft and trades
Gerry Dulac
9:57
Ah yes.....Forget about the draft, Greg. Tell me about Florida. Beats the heck out of Washington Street, eh? Too early me to tell what exactly they might do in the draft, but a safe bet is both lines of scrimmage. Weakest parts of the team.

  1. I don’t want the Steelers to draft Kenny P.  Am I wrong for that?   Just feel that d line needs an upgrade.   Also, could a kid like Jack Coan be a late rounds steal?
Gerry Dulac
9:59
Not at all. You're certainly not in the small minority. And the defensive line needs an infusion of quality young talent. I don't think they're interested in late-round steals at quarterback. Maybe a punter...oh, wait

Hi Gerry....Thanks for the chats!  Your thoughts on Jimmy Garoppolo, and what it would take to get him.  Thank you
Gerry Dulac
10:01
The question for them shouldn't be what it would take, rather how cheap they could get him. To me, he's right up there with Kirk Cousins, who is the most overpaid unproductive QB in the NFL.

which QB prospect stood out the most to you at the senior bowl?
Gerry Dulac
10:01
I wasn't there to evaluate

Hi Gerry-  Morning.  Would you please itemize timing considerations and economic impacts of possible Tuitt outcomes-   1.  He comes back under current contract. 2.  He comes back under restructured contract. 3. He is released.   If he wants to play do you think he has strong preference to return to Steelers?
Gerry Dulac
10:02
Try door No. 2. And, yes, his desire would be to play here. Why wouldn't he? After the way he was treated this year?

I know there's a lot of clamoring to draft an OL or DL in the first round. But we all know how hard it is to find a QB1, if one falls within range that they like can you see them trading up? Even if it means giving up a future first
Gerry Dulac
10:03
That would all depend how much they like one of those QBs. And, let's face it, none of them are sure-fire No. 1 picks....except this year.

Morning Gerry, I noticed Claypool's 2021 receiving numbers are almost similar to 2020's numbers other than he had 7 more touchdowns in his rookie season. Do you think Coach Jackson can get more production out of him?
Gerry Dulac
10:04
It's never about the WR coach. Don't ever think that. It's about the offensive coordinator, the quarterback who is throwing him the ball, his commitment to running better routes and wanting to catch the ball.

Hi Gerry - regarding Mason Rudolph, do you think we’ve basically seen all that he has to offer or, over the course of a 17 game season as a starter, do you believe he can demonstrate more than we’ve already seen? Thx - great chats -
Gerry Dulac
10:06
I think he has shown enough -- to you and to them -- to give them an indication of the type of QB he can be. He has started 11 games and played in several others. That doesn't mean he can't flourish even more knowing he is the man.

Love the chats! Read a report that several scouts at the Senior Bowl concluded there isn't "one NFL starter" among the QBs there. Any word on the Steeler's assessment of the 2022 QB class? Hope it's the same so they can concentrate on the OL.
Gerry Dulac
10:07
It's like I said just a bit ago, E .... none of these QBs would be sure-fire No. 1 picks in just about any other year, except this one.

Am I crazy or is Tom Brady reaching with his comment anointing Lamar Jackson as the next guy?   Seems like that bar has been lowered significantly.
Gerry Dulac
10:08
Lamar Jackson will never be the thrower like Brady, Mahomes, Rodgers, Burrow. But he is as dynamic as any of them in different ways.

I’m not one that thinks the Steelers should trade or trade up in the draft for a QB due to the team having so many holes to fill and not enough picks to fill them with. I’m guessing FA QB is the route they’ll take, and if so who would you pick out of the available QBs?
Gerry Dulac
10:10
Agreed. They will add a QB because they lost one in Ben. It's just a question if they more of a veteran backup behind Rudolph or want to bring in a Mariota or Trubisky who could actually contend to be the starter. If they do that, then they might as well get rid of Rudolph. Either that, or he will ask them to let him go, which he should in that circumstance.

Glad to see you favor the return of JuJu if a reasonable cost. No reason to think he’ll be offered anymore than last time, right? Another year at 8 wouldn’t be a bad deal. Will the cap increase play into this?
Gerry Dulac
10:12
Correct. His market value is even less than last year. But, of all the free agents (beside Minkah), he would be No. 1 priority to re-sign. He's tough, committed and one of the few players on offense who could be a leader. Because, let's face it, there aren't many of those on that side of the ball with 7, 53, 66, 73 gone
Patrick
10:12
How confident are you the Steelers will draft/sign offensive and defensive linemen and not trade or draft a QB?
Gerry Dulac
10:12
A whole lot more confident that drafting a QB
Yates
10:12
Gerry-  why no rumors about next OL Coach?  Why no announcement yet on DC?
Gerry Dulac
10:14
The only OL coach rumor is Munchak and that ain't happening. Not sure what the holdup is with defensive coordinator announcement, but don't read anything into it. By the way, has anyone noticed that three offensive coaches have decided they don't want to coach here???

Just a couple years ago the consensus thinking was not to use a number one pick on a nose tackle since he would only be on the field 25% of the time. Seems like opinions are changing on that after the dismal performance of the Steeler defense the past season. What say you?
Gerry Dulac
10:15
I understand the change in thinking, especially after the way the Steelers defense was shredded by the run without Alualu.

10:15
Am I off base thinking that the OL coach may be the most important decision this offseason for the Steelers? With the OL being the weakest link for last few years it doesn't seem like the Steelers can afford to get this decision wrong. Have you heard anything about who the Steelers might bring in to be OL coach?
Gerry Dulac
10:17
I get your concern. Actually, I think the most important decision of the offseason was the one they didn't make. They had a good O-line coach with Adrian Klemm, but he didn't want to continue to be here. The same might happen with other prospective candidates

Which current member of the Steelers do you believe will be with the team the longest? I ask because I'm in the market for a new jersey now that Ben has retired.
Gerry Dulac
10:18
Haha. Well, right now that's Cam Heyward. He won't reach Ben longevity but it might be a long time before another Steelers player gets to Cam's tenure
Jerry
10:18
You had mentioned a few weeks ago about there being some bitterness with Ben's retirement. Was his retirement forced by the Steelers? Do you think will never see him around the team again like Bradshaw?
Gerry Dulac
10:20
I think as Ben said he saw the writing on the wall. And the writing was scribbled by Kevin Colbert and Mike Tomlin. I think he will be more like Troy and Hines, not Bradshaw.

Why when the ball goes up into the stands during a kickoff etc. does security make the fan who caught the ball give it back?
Gerry Dulac
10:20
Those balls cost a little more than baseballs and hockey pucks.
