if QB is the answer for success, and drafting one high in the draft is not going to happen, why not sign a bunch of older but talented players on the offensive side to short term contracts and try to make a run deeper in then playoffs?

'Sup Gerr Bear? Will Hall of Fame Head Coach Mike Tomlin finish out his last 3 years on this contract with losing seasons? People scoffed when I said the Steelers would finish last season with 5 straight losses but they sure as heck did. Not even close to winning one of them.

Hi Gerry, What is the fascination with Justin Fields based on? His 4 wins were defensive wins against rusty/rookie/crippled quarterbacks and the pitiful Raiders. In my opinion Kyle Allen (or almost anybody) could have gone 4-2 against those teams or maybe even 6-0 beating the below average Colts and Cowboys.

Fair Question -The  minushia is always we want volunteers not hostages. But we continue to give extended stays to the hostages. We keep hearing to keep doing things the same and expecting different outcomes is insanity. Therefore how can a fan or player for that matter expect different results?

I don't think it's accurate to say they give extended stays to the hostages, not after they dumped Diontae Johnson, Kenny Pickett, Melvin Ingram, James Harrison, LeGarrette Blount. Did I forget anyone?

Would it have made sense for AR2 not to give the inexplicable 3 year extension to his contract last summer and just let Tomlin play out this last disappointing season and then gone after Ben Johnson ..... or almost anybody else?

I've always thought there was nothing wrong with giving him a one-year extension with a one-year option until they start winning playoff games.

I wish everyone would realize this trade talk for Tomlin is never going to happen and is simply pure fiction. Someone mentioned it once as a possibility and it took on a life of its own.

Gerry an honor. When we continually ran the 3 Tight end sets with minimal success but kept doing it. Very seldom blitzed. Go on the road in a playoff game after losing 4 straight & don’t change a thing. Is it ego with Tomlin ?

Hi Gerry - it seems to me that the plan is to just run it back in 2025.  They get a few bodies back, hope for a good draft, sign a few tier 2 guys internally and externally, and hope for a better outcome.  Why should anyone care to see this movie again?

So it appears the changes on the coaching staff were more of a change for the sake of change type moves and the only real changes are gonna be a handful of roster moves, is there any reason to think we're going to do any better than another first round exit this year?

That wouldn't solve anything. But let me remind everybody of one thing -- the Steelers are concerned with 2025, not 2027. Their plans are based on immediacy, just like it was last year, and that is to start winning playoff games with players who can do that now, not 2027. That's why they brought in Russell Wilson. It didn't work, but that doesn't mean they're going to change their mind and start planning for the future.

Hi Gerry. Were you surprised at KC's inability to adjust and handle the Eagles pass rush? On Christmas day the Chiefs used a short passing game against the Steelers to great effect to nullify the pass rush. I expected to see similar adjustments at halftime in the Super Bowl.
