MT preaches he welcomes being uncomfortable, but the only coaching change is returning a familiar face for DBs?
Gerry Dulac

Now that's comfortable

It is clear that Brod Jones77 cannot handle speed rushers. Looking at Eagles OL size, why not go after Mechi Becton - a former failed tackle with NY Jets now a powerful interior RG? Why not move BJ77 to LG and then limit shopping to LT? If BJ77 fails at LT - the blind side of either RW3 or JF2  will be a major problem in terms of protection. I also see JF2 being Jalen Hurts. Field Yates ESPN has Steelers taking Jaxson Dort QB with first pick in his latest mock...What say U?
Gerry Dulac
10:19
I say that's not happening. And maybe Bechton has done well because of the other linemen that surround him.

I’m fine with Fields returning as I don’t see any other options. I try to bring back Najee and draft a late round RB to go with Warren. You can not watch the Super Bowl and not think we need at least 2 DL studs, a starting CB and a WR (two if they move Pickens). Your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac

I think you're on to something....

Hello Gerry. Thank you as always for the chat. There was an undeniable improvement in the offence last year when Wilson took over the QB position from Fields, even though Wilson did not have the training camp, unlike Fields. So why is there a talk about bringing Fields back as a QB and not Wilson? Is it just because Fields can run and Tomlin got a love for running QB or is it because Arthur Smith cannot get along with Wilson? Fields cannot read defence after 6 years in NFL. A running QB can be neutralized by loading up the box. Wilson showed what a good QB can do except the last 5-6 weeks when he did not have freedom to change the plays. I do not get the Steelers thought process. Am I wrong ? Thank you
Gerry Dulac
10:22
You are not wrong and that's exactly what's being debated internally -- how well the offense operated (averaged 29 points per game) for the seven games when Wilson replaced Fields. And let's not lay what happened the final five games merely on the fact Wilson was limited with the audibles.

Good morning, Gerry! - With the definition of insanity being doing the same thing over with no change in results, why would anyone be serious about bringing in Rodgers at this time, after the way Wilson soiled the bed down the stretch? Bite the bullet, sign Fields and design an offense to his strengths, and draft a QB like Dart in the 2nd round (or trade up to get him) and start looking to the future instead of listening to Springsteen and "Glory days" with these retreads.
Gerry Dulac
10:24
Actually, while the Steelers might design plays to feature a QB's strength, they are not going to devise an entire offense to suit a QB. It's the other way around. They want a QB who can best fit the offense the coordinator wants to run.

Hello Gerry . Thank you as always for the chat. Do you expect Steelers to take a QB in the first 2 days of the draft? I hope that if they take a QB , they do so in the first 2 rounds of the draft and not take a Run First QB like Jalen Milroe later in the draft, because of the Tomlin's love for running QBs . Thank you
Gerry Dulac
10:25
I don't expect it, to be honest. But I do think it's likely they take one in Day 3

Happy Wendesday Gerry! Thanks for your chats as always. Are we expecting to sign our qb in the next three weeks? What are you sensing from the team ? Fields or Wilson?
Gerry Dulac
10:32
A decision will be made soon. It has to be. Free agency begins one month today. And I'm not sure what to sense because I know it's not a clear-cut decision. All I will say is this -- remember Ben Roethlisberger and what happened for his final year

Gerry. You have been preaching for several years the need for the Steelers to beef up their defensive line. The way that Philadelphia’s defensive lineman handled. Kansas City emphasizes the fact that you have been correct in this assessment of the Steelers lack of emphasis in this regard

Do the players offer you accurate assessments of what needs to be fixed?
Gerry Dulac
10:33
Sure, though usually off the record.

Since 2018, the first player taken in each of those years, how would you rate the overall outcome of those pics? And what story does it tell?
Gerry Dulac
10:35
Well, only three of the seven still on the team -- and two of those are the most recent two. So not very good

Hey Gerry.  Lots of resentment towards Pickett.  I, personally, am very happy for him.  I feel he got some redemption.  He was lied to and misled by Tomlin.  He saw Tomlin has a track record of this behavior because he's done it to previous teammates as well.  If your boss offered you promotions, then gave them to an outsider, wouldn't you lose trust in him?  Wouldn't you want to pursue other employment?  It seems once trust is lost in a relationship, it is very difficult to repair that relationship.
Gerry Dulac
10:35
I don't get the resentment, either, except that it's fans and that's the way a lot of them behave/think.

Hines Ward numbers are serving, along with two SBs, and an MVP. More importantly he changed rules in the game blocking. Who is the Steelers representation for the HOF and are they pounding the table enough in your opinion? Thanks

You are talking to him.

Washington should be back. Do you expect either Pruitt and or Heyward back in the TE room?
Gerry Dulac

Well, they might be changing the locks....

Are we in a situation like a Scooby Doo episode when someone rips the mask off Art II and we find out it's actually Nutting?  Do we have the worst ownership in all of sports in this town?  Nutting may even be better than Artie.  He doesn't spend but he does shake things up and doesn't give blind loyalty to a man that is a complete fraud.

Gerry there is a lot of speculation over the Russell Wilson situation, seems like some NFL insiders are saying there is no way he returns, and some who say the Steelers are currently speaking with RW's representatives.  In your opinion, do you think Wilson returns for 2026?
Gerry Dulac
10:37
Let me just tell you that a lot, if not most, of those so-called insiders are clearly on the outside.
Jake
10:37
Steelers press, reporters and media are all amazing and great at what they do. I ask you, is Russell Wilson coming back, or has he been shown the door permanently?
Gerry Dulac
10:38
Flattery not going to get you anywhere Jake. And he has not been shown the door just yet.

Hey Gerry! Love the chats. Not so much for this year, but nexts years draft class that seem to be deeper for the Qb position….would you think we would take a swing and trade up to get a legit, young Qb? Assuming of course, we get 10 wins and get smoked in the first rd of the playoffs again lol
Gerry Dulac
10:39
I think next year is a lot more probable in terms of drafting a QB.
The Need for Speed
10:39
Good morning Gerry...Of course part of the rumor mill, if Najee Harris comes back to the Steelers would it prevent the Steelers from possibly drafting Judkins out of Ohio State? Or another running back?
Gerry Dulac
10:39
No, I think they will still draft a RB, regardless if they sign Harris and/or Warren. But it won't be until Day 3 tho.
Josh H
10:40
Are the steelers interested in Deebo Samuel? Reports are San Fran is willing to let him walk for a day 3 pick.  If they send their 5th rounder in 2025 draft, that means they wouldn't pick until the 7th round on day 3 as their picks currently sit
Gerry Dulac
10:40
I'm sure they are looking at it.
The Need for Speed

On another note, after having visited the area for around 40 years, I'll finally get to play the Olympic in San Francisco this upcoming September. Any chance you've played it?
Gerry Dulac
10:41
Good for you. I've had two tee times there and both had to be scrapped -- one because of a delayed flight, the other because of nasty weather.
