Gerry ... you know this town has always loved the back up qb...the pulse of this town seems to want to move on from Ben. A few bad throws or games I feel the boo birds will be out.  What sat you
Gerry Dulac
11:26
Of course they will be.

Hi Gerry, given that so much of the Steelers planning centers around what they will do with Ben, why haven't things been resolved yet with Ben's possible return and contract?  I just don't see much urgency with the Steelers' approach to turning things around.
Gerry Dulac
11:27
Relax BB, there is still plenty of time for planning and making moves. Too early for urgency.

I read a lot of Steeler stuff online and am pretty amazed. I understand guys like Stephen A not knowing  anything but what about Popejoy on Steeler Wire? Not only that but does no one proof read anymore?
Gerry Dulac
11:28
I wouldn't know one thing about anything those guys write. I know SAS, but I don't read him

I don't think Ben can take the team to another SB. In games he seems to switch away from the run, taking it on himself, trying to win with his arm, while his arm is not what use to be as age has caught up to him. But if they do bring him back I hope it's to give Haskins all the time he needs to be the QB  he was drafted to be. He does have talent .

Don't you realize why the Steelers were 12-4??? It wasn't because of their running game. And, yeah, they had a good defense, but not so much in the second half of the season. They were 12-4 because of the games in which he had to do something, and, based on their record, he did so 75 percent of the time.

Do you think the Steelers will get a QB in free agency regardless if Ben stays or not?
Gerry Dulac
11:31
Only as a backup if Ben is gone. Or if they don't like what they see in  Haskins.

Will we not hear any word on pow wow with Ben until new salary cap number is revled?
Gerry Dulac
11:31
You will hear before that.

Good morning Gerrry.  With certain players leaving/retiring and money limited, what is the %age possibility that Ben comes back?  Thanks.
Gerry Dulac
11:32
That will depend on the Steelers. But I'd say 70-30.

If Ben is done after the 2021 season and Rudolph is not the answer who would be the starting QB in 2022? We can't assume we'll be able to draft high enough in 2022 to get that future starter.
Gerry Dulac
11:33
Who says Rudoph is not the answer? He will be given every opportunity to show he can do it in 2022, if Ben plays in 2021. That being said, that doesn't mean the Steelers might not look for a quarterback in the draft at some point.
11:35
Alan, I accidentally deleted your question about a quality control coach. Sorry. But I will tell you this, you answered your own question with your final sentence. Please re-send

If my memory serves me, the last two times we won the Super Bowl we had a true NT, a solid OL, an all around highly rated TE, and we ran a balanced offense. Is it time to follow that model again?
Gerry Dulac
11:36
Geeziz, you can't have everything all the time. It's not that easy.

Hello Gerry! Hope you are fine! Do you agree that the 2020's approach to draft assessment did provide good results ? Hopefully they can keep the same approach
Gerry Dulac
11:37
Yes, I though they did a very good job considering the restraints under which they were working due to the virus protocols.
Paull
11:37
Hi Gerry, my take is they should select an OL vs RB due to length of career. Plus if RB is elite it will be difficult to sign to 2nd contract. Your thoughts..
Gerry Dulac
11:38
They can't worry about second contracts. They have to worry about now, what they need most, what will drastically improve the run game NOW! That's the same as drafting a pass-protecting LT when you don't have a quality QB worth protecting.

11:38
Not saying I think they should do this, but what pick do you think the Steelers could get for Rudolph if they wanted to move him? He's just got a year left on his contract, so if you aren't sure you'd resign him maybe consider getting something for him?
Gerry Dulac
11:38
Not going to happen. But, because you asked, no more than a 5.
Ryan
11:39
Good day Gerry Does banner come back next season
Gerry Dulac
11:39
Yes.
Andy Van Slyke
11:39
Gerry, Why would TJ Watt sign a long term deal with the Steelers rather than become a free agent and sign with a team that he thinks is going to win?  He has to see that the next 5 years are going to be lean at best for the Steelers.
Gerry Dulac
11:39
Why wouldn't he??
Paul
11:39
Fix the line, draft a rb and Ben will be just fine. If that happens with our D , the Steelers should be very competitive.
Gerry Dulac
11:39
Hold your cards..!

11:39
Gerry, am I crazy in thinking that the OL could be a quick fix?  As long as they get a good Center, I’m comfortable with Banner, Chuks, Decastro and Dotson in the other spots.  Drafting for the future is still important, but I think that can be a solid unit this year.
Gerry Dulac
11:40
What about Feiler? He's a better tackle than the guys you mentioned.

If Ben comes back, plays and retire, then MR will also be an unrestricted free agent. What direction the Steelers take then? Give MR a starter money or find a new QB else where?
Gerry Dulac
11:40
They will sign Rudoph.
Mark
11:40
Is signing a center in free agency a must? I can't see JC Hassenhauer as the starter.
Gerry Dulac
11:40
Close to a must.
Moe
11:40
Field position is so important to the success of the defense do you think the Steelers should improve their punt and kick teams? Or are you a Danny Smith enabler?
Gerry Dulac
11:42
You can't predict field position. Me? I'd fair catch every punt and not return any kickoff. I promise you the net result would be better than if you had a return game.

Do St3elers fans tend to over-value Steelers players?  Can you name top 2 players who have left Steelers anddelivered more for their new team?  Don't most fade away from the NFL scene?
