Hi Gerry, if Steelers pick up a RB in FA or draft one, is Whyte or even Samuels the odd man out?  I kind of liked Whyte and his speed, which is I think is missing from the current RB group.  Thanks!

Do you see us being active this draft for instance: Draft a RB at 2 and then trade 30 to for a 3rd or 4th?  30's going to walk after this season anyway

I think you will see the Steelers try to add another draft choice but I really don't think it can or will be anything higher than a 5th round pick.

I'd look at one of the TEs -- Austin Hooper or Hunter Henry -- if they don't re-sign with their own team.

Hi Gerry, great chat as always - I know the steelers prefer to keep their own players, but Bud Dupree is going to command top of the line edge rusher money. And he's been relatively non productive until last year, and then only 11 sacks. Wouldn't it be smarter to put that money towards one of the free agent edge rushers who has a better track record of longer production, since it's going to be the same as what Dupree will command?

They are not going to sign an edge rusher in free agency for the same reason they won't sign Bud to a new contract -- that money is being earmarked for a big contract for TJ Watt.

How big of a loss was the Salary Cap analyst we lost to Carolina? Will this affect us since we are always so amazing at reworking the Cap?

With the contract of that malcontent WR off the books this year one would think it frees up a little cap space for the team or was that room used up with Bens deal ?

Well, I've been told it's not as simple they now have an extra $21 million cap room because AB's contract is off the books.

Hi Gerry, remember the old days when the Steelers had to draft lighter defensive ends and convert them to outside linebackers because the exact prototypes they wanted didn't exist . . . perhaps the Steelers need to start doing something similar with TEs? Given the dearth of well rounded TEs, maybe they should look for stout blockers and see if they can catch? Or get tall receivers and have them put on weight?

Well, I think that's what they are hoping to do with Zach Gentry. There is also a TE at Penn State who fits both requirements, but he's not in the draft.

Wonder if the NFL FO would like to have not reinstated Myles quite so early after his comments earlier this week. More time off might make him rethink his comments?

I'm surprised the league didn't make as part of his reistatement a requirement that he no longer discuss the issue. Now that he has, I'm sure the league has warned him about doing so again or face further punishment. This whole incident looks bad for the league, too, and as long as Garrett continues with the narrative, the league will not be happy.
