OK kids, let's get our chat started.....

Don't NFL teams look for differences makers in skill positions? Najee Harris never breaks long runs, can’t get to the edge, and has average stats given the number of carries. I believe Najee Harris won’t get a big contract anywhere, especially with the all the RBs in the draft. Do you still think otherwise?
Gerry Dulac
11:03
Bill, I never did think otherwise, for all the reasons you suggest. But, let's be fair, he's had four straight 1,000-yard seasons and NEVER missed a game. His durability is amazing, considering the hits and punishment he takes for a big, bruising back

Gerry: AJRII infamously said "it's not like we haven't had some success around here."  Wouldn't your level of acceptance of this comment depend entirely on how long you have been a fan?  You'd have to be say at least 56 years old to think of the Steelers as giving "you" more championships as fans of teams other than the Pats.  Steeler fans in their early teens can't see really any "success".  Over the last 45 years, the Steelers have only about 0.5 more titles than if titles were just evenly distributed across all the teams.  Isn't this acceptance of mediocrity and satisfaction with what has been achieved long ago, the real problem?
Gerry Dulac
11:05
I would not call four playoff appearances in the past five years, five in the past seven and 12 overall for Mike Tomlin 'mediocrity." Same with 18 consecutive non-losing seasons. However, I do get "no playoff wins" in the past eight years. And I understand why some think it's simply time for a change

Is Khan blowing smoke about Pickens and wanting him in Pittsburgh? Maybe try to drive up the price of a trade? I can’t believe he’s in their plans for a second contract at this point
Gerry Dulac
11:06
I don't think he is in their plans beyond 2025

Good morning Gerry, I realize change doesn’t always happen quickly but for the talk about change the Steelers have done very little to change. Why bring back N Harris?
Gerry Dulac
11:06
Give it time Tom. The gun sounds March 12
John from Toronto
11:06
Hi Gerry. Art Rooney said he wants his starting and back up QB to have similar styles. To that end, if Russ Wilson is re-signed could we see a reunion in the QB room with Mason Rudolph?
Gerry Dulac
11:07
That doesn't sound far-fetched at all. But you have to wonder how much Mason Rudolph can tolerate with the Steelers

11:07
How can Tomlin still be considered a good coach?  It is not just the zero playoff wins in 8 season it is that when they do make the playoffs he has the team so unprepared and not ready to play that they are blown out by halftime. The emperor has no clothes!
Gerry Dulac
11:08
There should be no debate about whether he is a good coach. He is. But that doesn't mean he shouldn't own six straight playoff losses. And he does. And that's why it's reasonable to ask -- is it time for a change?
John from Toronto
11:08
Hi Gerry. Omar Khan doesn't like to go into the draft without having first addressed areas of need in free agency. As such, should we expect him to sign starting caliber players at DL, WR and CB ahead of the draft?
Gerry Dulac
11:09
That's right. But, in the case of DL and WR, just because they might (and will) address it in free agency doesn't mean they won't address it high in the draft either.
Bill in LA
11:09
If not for injuries to Garapolo and Trey Lance, Brock Purdy would still be an unknkown QB3. Wouldn’t you agree there is likely a franchise quarterback buried on a depth chart somewhere around the NFL?  And are the Steelers smart enough to even look and take a chance on one?
Gerry Dulac
11:10
You mean Bill like, say, uh....hmmmmm.....let's see.....KENNY PICKETT??
Albert Einstein

Some people just won't listen - the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.  Minor changes to a coaching staff which is recognized as one of the worst in the league, keeping Tomlin in charge of the overrated and expensive defense, looking to bring back one of the same 2 JV QB's, keeping Pickens, lining Watt up at LE time after time after time.....I could go on and on.  At a minimum how about trading Pickens for some draft picks - they have so many holes that picking up a couple of picks (say a 2 and a 4) would help them plug some holes.  Am I still a genius or have I turned into "Get off my lawn guy"?
Gerry Dulac
11:11
Maybe more of the latter
John from Toronto

Hi Gerry. It seems like the last season was humbling to say the least for Diontae Johnson. Any chance of a reunion between him and the Steelers or does coach Tomlin have his hands full with already with divas in the WR room?
Gerry Dulac
11:11
None. They got rid of him for a reason

Any insight on who the Steelers have interest in at WR, CB, and/or DL (Draft or Free Agency)?
Gerry Dulac
11:13
As for WR, I think you can start with who they were ready to make a trade for in the regular season -- Christian Kirk. As for DL, how about Super Bowl stud MIlton Williams from the Eagles?
TVC15
11:13
The Steelers met with Ashton Jeanty. Is that just because Tomlin loves his free dinners? If Jeanty somehow slid to them they would waste his talent the same way the Giants wasted Saquon Barkley's talent.
Gerry Dulac
11:14
No. If they did, dumb move
Jack
11:14
How bad does it have to get before Tomlin gets fired?
Gerry Dulac
11:15
Really bad. Again, I don't call 10-7 and another playoff appearance "bad." But I get your point.
Jack
11:15
Is it time to trade some vets for draft picks since the Steelers are so far away from actually competing with good teams or winning a playoff game?
Gerry Dulac
11:15
I don't think they are that far away from what you suggest
Steve in Canton
11:15
Good morning, Gerry. Rumor has it your and Ray F. will do a tag-team chat in 2025. Any truth?
Gerry Dulac
11:16
As you know, I don't deal in rumors. But there is some discussion about a pay-per-view
Steve in Canton
11:16
How many new starters can the Steelers add with their 2025 salary cap situation? Assuming Larry O, C. Holcomb and C. Patterson are goners.
Gerry Dulac
11:16
I think 2-3
TVC15
11:16
Hi Gerry,  Will Tomlin have a losing record in at least 2 of his last 3 seasons? Or do you think it is ridiculous to even think that of the great future Hall of Famer?
Gerry Dulac
11:17
An 18-year history would suggest that's not going to happen.

Gerry, Today's P-G offers an analysis of tight ends in this year's draft - some intriguing prospects.  How likely is a tight end selection for the Steelers?  We have a lot of money invested in Freiermuth and seem generally pleased with Washington.
Gerry Dulac
11:17
TE is not a priority. Third-day pick at best

Hello. Thank you as always for the chat. Do you think that Steelers may be interested in bringing Mason Rudolph back as back up QB ? He is better than many starting QBs in this league and was always a class act in Pittsburgh, even after not being treated fairly. Thank you
Gerry Dulac
11:17
Agree 100 percent with your evaluation. As for the possibility........

Thanks for your chats Gerry! Hope you have a great time in Indy! Do you think Sam Darnold is a real possibility on the QB landscape for steelers or is about 2 man race within Fields and Wilson? Do you have a favorite for the WB position?
