No he is not. Not any better than the options they already have in front of them. Now, Matthew Stafford is a different case.
Jack
11:20
How many more years before the Steelers win a playoff game?
Gerry Dulac
11:20
I say one

Is there a potential Steelers' 2025 draft pick you're most excited about seeing work out at the combine?
Gerry Dulac
11:20
Yeah, the big DT from Michigan. Look out!!
Steve in Canton
11:21
Is QB Matt Stafford REALLY doable for the Steelers at $50M a year and high draft capital?
Gerry Dulac
11:21
Nope. Not at that price. And what makes you think it will be at that price. Lucky if it even gets to $40m

Has Tiger Woods fell to "mascot-only" status?
Gerry Dulac
11:22
Curious way of putting it

Does Mike Tomlin’s catchphrase “the standard is the standard” today mean: the Steeler’s goal is a non-losing season, with a low playoff seed, followed by a 21 loss in the playff game? That's the standard, right?
Gerry Dulac
11:22
It might not be the standard, but it has been the norm. Wait a minute, that's the same thing

Curious who was the biggest driving force to land Trubisky at the opening of midnight madness? I’m sure whoever it was has made some good decisions, but what did they see for him to be one of the first FA signings?
Gerry Dulac
11:24
I thought it was a good signing at the time, knowing they were gonna draft a QB in the first round. Trubisky, a solid veteran and former Pro Bowler, would be the bridge QB till their guy (Pickett) was ready. I had no problem with the signing and I applauded their decision to act quickly

There has been negativity about Najee Harris, but isn’t he the closest thing to Jerome Bettis in terms of fighting for yardage, his durability cannot be questioned, he is still young, and why open another position of need?
Gerry Dulac
11:25
A lot of what you say is true, though I'm not ready to go with the Bus comparison

I know you save your prediction for first round pick for after combine, but if you had the top pick, who do you take for the Stillers?
Gerry Dulac
11:26
One of those DL. Maybe Kenneth Grant, the big kid from Michigan, because I think his teammate will be gone.

Hello Gerry - what are the chances not only that the Steelers bring back Najee but they end up signing him at higher price point than if they gave  him an extension before last season?
Gerry Dulac
11:30
Chances are pretty decent because Mike Tomlin loves him. But that would be the strange part, signing him to a two- to three-year deal for more than his fifth-year option??

Are you aware of a weaker coaching staff than the steelers in the NFL? Why does Rooney feel that's acceptable?
Gerry Dulac
11:31
I don't evaluate coaching staffs around the league

Any reason why a player, example James Daniel’s, wouldn’t stay around the team while being on IR. Is it simply he knew he was a pending FA?
Gerry Dulac
11:32
Probably. Nonetheless, that always surprises me when a player goes on IR and almost never comes around the team after that. The guilt and pity would drive me back to the locker room

Any chance the Steelers would be open to Diontae Johnson part deux in 2025?
Gerry Dulac
11:32
Nope

Are you confident the Steelers will address the #2 WR position early in free agency? Or wait until the draft?
Gerry Dulac
11:32
Both. They need to. And they know it

Gerry, ever play Pete Dye Bridgeport? It's borderline genius use of a nasty coal mine, IMHO.
Gerry Dulac
11:32
Yes I have and yes it is!!

Beat writer from another team you most enjoy seeing at events like the combine? Toni Grossi?
Gerry Dulac
11:32
Grossi and Hobson

Gerry, we both know the needs in the draft. If you had to guess do you think the bigger FA signing contract will be a DL or WR?
Gerry Dulac
11:33
I think the WR will be a bigger splash

Hello. Thank you for the chat. I know you are not a big fan of one Kenny Pickett but you have to admit that he has always taken the high road since leaving Pittsburgh.  I am sure that there is his side of the story but he  has never come out and bad mouthed Tomlin/ Steelers. Its funny that recently reports have come out that Fields wants to sign in PGH only if has a clear path to become QB and no one has a problem but Pickett was crucified that he did not want competition. Personally, I hate the fact that he could have become someone in Pittsburgh. I know, I know that he wanted out but Steelers could have handled it better and give time for things to cool down.  Thank you.
Gerry Dulac
11:34
It's not that I'm not a big fan of Kenny Pickett. I have no problem with the guy. I like him. I didn't like the selection of a QB when and where the Steelers drafted one. That's all
Steve in Canton
11:34
Are you surprised by the lack of coaching changes this offseason?
Gerry Dulac
11:35
I thought there would be at least one other, but I also thought there should have been more.

Hi Gerry, At first glance this draft seems to be light on premium players, filled with potential starters but not necessarily stars. Given that, it seems the best way to land a difference maker is in free agency. Might Omar swing big again and try to land a good young DL like Milton Williams? While they still would need to draft DL early, It would allow them to go a little more BPA in the first round.
Gerry Dulac
11:36
I'm not sure I agree with your assessment of the overall draft. And there usually aren't too many difference-makers in free agency because if they were difference-makers they wouldn't be free agents

This whole idea of having 3 DL consume blockers so that LBs can "flow" to the runner is not working. Offensive lines and schemes are wise to it. Can we please employ 4 large men to tackle rbs before they get to lbs?
