Sir...sorry if this has been asked before...  Although I love the hiring of Coach Flores, I just think that Tomlin is NOT going to take or allow his input / thoughts on defensive philosophies.  I am hoping I am wrong.  What say you sir?
Gerry Dulac
1:32
First off, Flores won't be in charge of the defense, Teryl Austin is. But he will have input. And, on the whole, I don't see it changing a lot, even though something has to change about the run defense.

Do you see them acquiring a RB who gets 100 touches a year or does Tomlin continue his “run ‘em till the wheels fall off “ approach? Harris cannot sustain another 2021 workload.
Gerry Dulac
1:33
I think history has provided that answer for you

Heinz Field name in jeopardy?  Do Steelers have say in sponsorship name or is it solely the Allegeny County Stadium Authority decision?
Gerry Dulac
1:34
Of course the Steelers have a say. Any suggestions?

I saw a report that says Tampa Bay is interested in Roethlisberger for a one year deal. If that happens, would Tampa absorb any of the void year money?
Gerry Dulac
1:34
No, doesn't work that way. Retired or still playing, it's the same -- he counts $10+ million against the cap this year
Tommy Boy
1:35
3 yr for $36M enough for Mitchell Trubisky?   Then trade Rudolph for a 5th or 6th rd pick, which the steelers have none of?  And still plan to draft QB next year, kid from Pine Richland via ND then Boston College.
Gerry Dulac
1:36
Sounds about right to me, at least the first part.

Why not try to rename Heinz Field the United States Steel Corporation Field?

For the Steelers FO, the combine is very largely about the interviews—ie they don’t gain much from the drills. For a vet beat reporter like yourself, what do you value then while you’re attending?  The side, behind the scenes chats you have with other reporters and other team reps?
Gerry Dulac
1:38
I don't want to alarm you, but the media does not get to watch the drills in person. We watch, like you, on TV. Like the teams, the interviews w the prospects are probably the second-most insightful aspect to be gleaned. Number 1 is the info you receive from seeing other coaches, GMs, front office personnel from around the league

All these stories about Steelers interest in certain QBs is speculation and click bait. But I’ll play along. I’ve seen Teddy bridgewater brought up. To me he’s a game manager and they already have that in Mason Rudolph. I can’t see any reason to bring in Bridgewater. What do you think?
Gerry Dulac
1:38
I concur. None whatsoever. Not better than what they have

Do you think we could get metchie the wr from Alabama later in draft since his injury?
Gerry Dulac
1:39
Possibly. Lot will depend what happens with JuJu

Hey Gerry. Thanks for the chats. Do you think they finally bring in a stable #2 back behind Najee Harris? It worked with Bell and Williams. Harris wont last 2 more seasons the way he plays.
Gerry Dulac
1:39
I tend to agree but that's not high on their list at all.

Gerry,  Love the chats.  Does it really bother you what is going on in the MLB?
Gerry Dulac
1:40
Is something going on?

Would it not be wise to build both lines this year via draft and free agency? What QB( particularly a rookie) can flourish behind our o-line. And would it even make a difference if our defense can’t stop anyone from rushing for 150 every game ?
Gerry Dulac

Gerry:  The NFL seems to be a copy cat league. Do you see more teams (Steelers included) being like the Rams, trading multiple draft picks, and getting 1-2 difference makers for the present rather than building for the future? I ask this thinking about Russell Wilson vs drafting a QB at 20.
Gerry Dulac
1:41
I don't see the Steelers doing it because that's not their philosophy. But absolutely I see other teams doing that, especially for a quarterback. More than ever.

Hi Gerry, Chucks has a good grade on pass blocking while he has a below average grade on run blocking. Is this something you can teach or is it due to his soft personality?
Gerry Dulac
1:42
They accused Marcus Gilbert of having a soft personality and all he did was become one of their best run blockers.

How do you think the Steelers draft ?
Gerry Dulac
1:42
In terms of....?

1:42
Which of the topo QB prospects handled the spotlight the best when speaking today?
Gerry Dulac
1:43
You could put Kenny Pickett right up there.

Devin Bush is the worst ILB in football. Joe Schobert is not much better. Bush will be out of the NFL after 2022. We need to draft an ILB with the 1st pick and and sign Leighton Vander Esch in free agency. Cut Bush and Schobert too. What are your thoughts.
Gerry Dulac
1:43
Not yours

This is a very deep WR class and that is an area the Steelers need an upgrade.  Would they take a WR in first round if one of top WRs dropped, such as London or Wilson, or are the needs at OL/DL just too great?
Gerry Dulac
1:44
Look, they never turn their back on a skill player, especially if a WR with a high grade dropped to them. So I will never say never when it comes to that position. But their needs are on the line of scrimmage and they should be and will be priority No. 1

Gerry, if the Steelers sign an interior offensive line player, is that going to be a primarily a center or guard and what happens to Green?
Gerry Dulac
1:44
Who they sign will tell you their plans for Green.

Would like to see the Stillers sign 2  established guards or guard and center. Use first round pick on the missing piece. Give Mason a fighting chance!
Gerry Dulac
1:45
I agree with part of that -- signing an established OL starter. Once that is done, sign two young DL studs among your first three picks.
