Steelers fans seem to think they can get multiple picks for Pickens (2nd and 4th seems to be popular).  Because fans’ invariably overvalue Steelers players trade value, I’m inclined to think they won’t do better than a 3rd.  Of course, how early in the round that acquiring team would draft is a factor.  What do you think?

Good morning, Gerry.  As the PG's most connected reported, any insight into whether the delay in securing a QB1 and moving on to other pressing needs is because 1 person isn't on board with the consensus choice or is the choice made and the delay is ironing out a compensation package that convinces their choice not to test the FA market.  They are dangerously close to making this a repeat of the WR position last year.  Thank you.

I don't think there is 100 percent consensus. But I also have to think it comes down to which QB is willing to accept what is being offered.

Thanks for the chats, Gerry.  If we bring back Fields (and I hope we don't), how long of a contract would you anticipate?  Could it keep us from looking for a QB in the 1st next year?

To your question -- no it won't. I don't expect Fields or Wilson to get anything more than a two-year deal, though a three-year deal might be done for financial/cap reasons

It would only be a WR for that to happen, and I don't think that will happen. Quite the contrary, the Steelers should be think trade-up to get the DL they really like.
