OK kids, we will be starting our chat is just a bit so get ready....

Here we go....
Stairway to seventh seed

Gerry:  Terrell Edmunds was a physical talent that had a decent rookie year, but never really ascended like we hoped he might.  Bush had a near rookie of the year season, but even before his injury didn't show much in year 2.  Claypool exploded onto the scene his rookie year and then went bust.    Najee's best year was his rookie year.  Pickett did show at least a couple of drives his rookie year before being a massive disappointment.  That's 5 straight top picks that did not make the expected leap in year 2.  Is this a coincidence?  Something wrong with player development?  Or does Tomlin "anoint" young guys as stars too soon and they can't handle it?
Gerry Dulac
10:02
First off, Tomlin never anoints anyone a star. and it's difficult to construct a pattern there, other than to say it was a coincidence. Edmunds was never a rising star and Bush was injured five games into his second season and never the same. harris was being force-fed to the offense as a rookie and is better now than he was then. Pickett didn't go backward; the hype and expectation was unrealistic and ridiculous. Claypool, though, is a shining example of a player who just went south because he was more interested in his brand than playing football

Are the Steelers interested in even meeting with Russell Wilson?
Gerry Dulac
10:02
i can't say that for certain.

There was an NFL GM who said if you have uncertainty at the QB position draft a QB every year in any round until you hit on one. Do you subscribe to this approach?
Gerry Dulac
10:03
Well, if you have uncertainty every year, why not. just don't reach to get one.

Good Morning Gerry.. Thanks as always for your time... and tolerance.. What position is most likely to be target in F/A and what do you think of going O-line 1-2 in the draft?  Tackle 1 ..Center 2.. Mims and Frazier.. Cheers
Gerry Dulac
10:06
I don't think they will use the first two picks in the draft on the offensive line, but i haven't ruled out the first pick being an OL, maybe and perhaps most likely even a center. Free agency could like produce a CB because three that the steelers have -- Wallace, Sullivan, Pierre -- are all UFAs
Matt
10:06
Gerry, the only voice we contrast in media world is yours...Is Wilson on the table or not for the steelers?
Gerry Dulac
10:08
Matt, I'm not sure Wilson wants to go somewhere where he is the no. 2 QB. And I don't think the steelers want to bring in a 36 year old QB to be their starter

hello Mr Dulac! If the asking price for Justin Fields drops to a 3rd round pick, will the Steelers make an offer?
Gerry Dulac
10:09
I wouldn't blame them if they did.

Hello Gerry, thanks for the chats. I'm sure there are a combination of reasons but what do you think is the biggest reason the Steelers have not managed their evaluation of the QB room very well since the end of Ben's career?
Gerry Dulac
10:11
I don't think the QB room is mismanaged. All that happened is they discovered Rudolph was a better fit than what they thought. Now, let's see what happens this year. Hey, it's not that easy replacing BR.

Good morning Gerry.  Excellent group of WRs, CBs, and OLs in the draft.  Mediocre group of LB, and DL.  Do you think its wise to address DL, C, and LB in free agency and take the best available T, WR, and CB in the top 3 rounds?  Thank you
Gerry Dulac
10:13
It just depends which players are on the board. Even though DL and ILB are thin doesn't mean there aren't one or two players who capture their attention. They will take a WR and OL in the draft, and probably before day 3.

Gerry. 2 years $10 million for Mason Rudolph. Who says no? The Steelers or Mason?
Gerry Dulac
10:14
That's about the price range the Steelers will offer, no more.

Which position group do you think the Steelers will target in free agency the hardest money wise? (anybody by name) and realistic what $ per year?
Gerry Dulac
10:18
I think CB is a likely target for reasons I mentioned earlier. And I think mid-range players such as Adoree Jackson and Kendall Fuller are that type -- guys who can come in a start while the Steelers find out if Cory Trice can help them
Danny
10:18
Who do u think the steelers will sign in free agency
Gerry Dulac
10:19
Some of that will depend on what Mason Rudolph does
Danny
10:19
Will the steelers keep moore as a starter
Gerry Dulac
10:19
For now, yes. Depends what happens in the draft

Good morning Gerry! Did you have a favorite Indy meal last week? Who or what impressed you most during the Combine?
Gerry Dulac
10:21
I did. And ILB Edgerrin Cooper and CB Quinyon Mitchell, along with both Texas DTs

HI Gerry. Can the Steelers create a path to the Super Bowl without a top tier quarterback? They typically draft in the teens and 20s which leaves them out of the premier draft options and free agent top tier quarterbacks don't hit the open market in their prime. For the record, I believe Fields is better than Pickett but I don't consider him top tier.
Gerry Dulac
10:23
I agree with what you say. But you need a top-tier QB to win a Super Bowl. That being said, I don't think Brock Purdy is a top-tier QB, but he looks and plays like one in that 49ers system surrounded by those 4 All-Pros
Danny
10:23
Now that the combine is over who do u see the steelers drafting in around one an do u think it could be a wr
Gerry Dulac
10:23
Center. And I have learned to never rule out a skill player

In the NFL, what's the difference between taunting and trash talk?
Gerry Dulac
10:26
Taunting occurs after a play -- standing over a player, getting in his face, trying to upstage him. Trash talk is just that -- talk

What is the highest cap charge you think the Steelers will create via free agency this year?
Gerry Dulac
10:26
To be honest, I never think about the highest cap charge

Hey Gerry, knowing that the Steelers have no intent on going after Wilson or Fields (thankfully), and assuming they will re-sign MR or bring in Tannehill, do you see them picking up a QB3 in the draft? What round?
Gerry Dulac
10:27
I can see that happening, but nothing before round 5 at the earliest. But it will depend what happens in FA
Dr Cornfedder
10:27
Gerry. Will the Steelers get into the bidding on the very best free agents. Like Christian Wilkins and Patrick Queen? And if yes. Which one are they more likely to pursue?
Gerry Dulac
10:28
It is highly unlikely, though both would be great pickups
