10:54
OK kids, we're going to start our chat in just a few minutes so get ready....
10:56
Ok, here we go...
Larry
10:56
Who was the most impressive player at the combine that you hadn’t heard of before this weekend?
Gerry Dulac
10:56
The fast Buffalo RB. Still don't know his name
Curly
10:56
would you take a CB in round 1 if one of the top 2-3 is available?
Gerry Dulac
10:56
Nope. Their draft history with CBs is abysmal.
Yancey
10:56
Please confirm the ARodge stuff is nonsense? Giving up a bunch of assets for another old QB would be disastrous.
Gerry Dulac
10:56
Correct. Nonsense. Big Mistake
Yancey
10:57
Will the Steelers spending philosophy in FA reflect a belief that they can actually contend next year, or will it reflect more of the long game?
Gerry Dulac
10:58
They always believe they can contend so their FA moves will reflect that. The draft is designed more for the future if you're comparing the two

Good morning Gerry.  Ray F. wrote, today, that "it appears defensive end Stephon Tuitt could be back in the fold".  Has something new happened?  Thanks.
Gerry Dulac
10:59
Nothing new has happened. Kevin Colbert said last week Tuitt wants to come back but that doesn't mean the Steelers are 100 percent convinced his head is where it should be. I think he'll be back but some work has to be done.
Billy
10:59
You had said a few weeks how Ben Roethlisberger would consider playing for the Bucs? We're you serious or joking? I can't see him playing for another team other than the Steelers. I know he has a close relationship with Arians though.
Gerry Dulac
11:00
I said if he would ever consider one team it would be the Bucs. But that doesn't mean he would do it. In fact, I'm here to tell you he ain't coming back.
Theo
11:00
Was Ben Roethlisberger ready to retire or did the Steelers force it on him? It sounds like from a interview Najee did Ben told him before the year it would be his last year.
Gerry Dulac
11:01
He knew it was his last year. As he said toward the end of the season, "the writing was on the wall."
John P
11:01
What is the % chances of Pitt acquiring A Rod, R Wilson, or landing Mitchell?
Gerry Dulac
11:01
None, none and not bad.
Moe
11:01
Round 2...Nevada QB or UNC QB?
Gerry Dulac
11:01
If you're taking a QB on Rd. 2, is he really any better than what you already have? The answer is likely no.

11:02
Gerry, Do you have a weekly chat open to other sports such as your forte, golf? Best bet in The Players? Dark horse in the Players? Thank you,
Gerry Dulac
11:02
Alas, I do not, but I'm open to the idea
Len
11:02
Gerry, the Steelers really don’t have the personnel to continue to run the 3/4 defense.  Do you think that there is Merritt in running a 4 man defensive line and allow Busch to hide behind a very large nose tackle?  I believe that his career will be jump started again in that situation?
Gerry Dulac
11:02
They REALLY don't have the personnel to run a 4-man front. You watch that D-line this year??
Tiberius Sempronius Gracchus
11:02
What would be the point of keeping Mason Rudolph around if the Steelers sign Mitch Trubisky? Dwayne Haskins would be ok as a QB2. And why would Trubisky sign without the assurance that he's the starter going into camp?
Gerry Dulac
11:03
That's exactly right. If they sign Trubisky, I expect them to release Rudolph or allow him to make a trade for himself

Why are all these national pundits saying the Steelers are picking a QB first in the draft or they are going to trade for Rodgers etc...Do they not call or email you all for your opinions as you are closer than anyone to the Steelers as far as what do expect?
Gerry Dulac
11:04
No they don't. And they do it because it sounds good and they start to believe themselves.
Tom
11:04
Gerry,  How can so many press, coaches, players have a negative opinion on Rudolph?  Seems pretty clear a career back is his path in the NFL.  Do you see something everyone else is missing?   Thanks.
Gerry Dulac
11:05
Mason Rudolph is not Ben. He is not an elite QB. Doesn't mean you can't win w him. He's Neil O'Donnell.

11:05
Good morning, Gerry and thank you for your chats!  Aaron Rodgers, I tt many Packer fans who say he has hit his ceiling and they would be OK to see him go despite winning the recent MVP award.  I liked the strategy to repair the "team" in positions of need via draft and FA then seek QB1 after M. Rudolph proves certain fans right or wrong...Do you think Rodgers will be a Steeler in 22?  Thanks Much!
Gerry Dulac
11:06
Not at all. The Steelers are trying to move forward without Ben. Why bring in a 38 yr old quarterback with bizarre behavior? That's for some team that wants to sell tickets.
Patrick
11:06
Gerry, please reassure me the Steelers are not going to trade for Aaron "immunized" Rodgers or draft a QB. They need both lines rebuilt.
Gerry Dulac
11:07
I can reassure they are not signing Rodgers. And they better address both lines of scrimmage or it won't matter who is the QB

So I hear the Steelers have a lot of available cap space to spend on free agents . Will they actually spend it on good players ?  Previous years they signed the likes of Ebron , Mahan , Ladarius Green , Burnett  . Very few Joe Haden types.
Gerry Dulac
11:08
That's what we are going to find out. But don't expect them to go sign the highest-priced free agent. They never do that. But I see a quality OLine guy (center or guard) in their free-agent future.

Gerry, I liked your article on M. Trubisky - interesting and thank you!  What part of M. Canada's scheme are you most curious about since he will have youth at QB?  This is not a knock on Ben; I'm a BIG #7 fan.  I am curious about what you might be looking for this year?  Thanks Much!
Gerry Dulac
11:08
Something much better than last year. What I saw last year gives me no confidence the offense will be much improved this year.

11:08
Will the Steelers sign free agents before the draft or will they wait until after the draft? I would hope they sign before so they know what holes they need to plug before they make their most important choices in their draft.
Gerry Dulac
11:09
No, whatever splash they make in free agency will be before the draft. That way they go into the draft knowing they don't have to address a certain position.
