I don't know that it's more and more likely, not like last year. And I don't know that it's probable in the first round.  And, even though they traded for Pittman, getting a top tier, young WR is still at the top of the list.

The angst over not signing Gainwell does not take into consideration the Dowdle addition. His stats exceed Gainwell by a lot on the ground, and he also contributed as a receiver out of the backfield. How do you see the swap in RB?
Gerry Dulac
11:59
I see exactly what you pointed up. Hey, I like Kenny G but it's not like they lost Jerome Bettis.

I believe we have 5 draft picks in the top 100, based on what we have done so far in free agency has that effected our draft plans? Also, am I the only one worried about safety? I feel like we should be moving on from Jalen Ramesy why is he still on the team?
Gerry Dulac
12:01
Why do you think they should move on from Ramsey? Let me tell you, they don't share your opinion. As for their draft plans, I think signing Jamel Dean has eased their desire to take a CB high in the draft. Doesn't mean they won't take one at some point.

Do you agree with some national reporters that since there have been no rumors of the Steelers chasing free agent QBs - that the Steelers feel positive about Aaron Rodgers returning to the team for 2026?
Gerry Dulac
12:02
I think the Steelers are feeling confident Rodgers will return. They also are very confident he will return only to them, not another team.

Will Kaleb Johnson be on the team come the first day? With Warren and Dowdle on the roster, he continues to be blocked. Other than the kickoff gaffe, why do they seem to have soured on him?
Gerry Dulac
12:03
He will be and they haven't soured on him. Year 2 is always a big one for players such as Johnson.

After all the moves in FA, shouldn't the steelers move up and take either Styles or Downs ?
Gerry Dulac
12:03
They just might

Good morning how would you grade the STEELERS on talent evaluation? Free agency draft, etc. to me it’s the most important component of building an NFL roster. What say over the last five years thank you.
Gerry Dulac
12:07
There have been some good FA pickups -- Gainwell, Rodgers, Russell Wilson, DeShon Elliott, Holcomb. But there have been some not-so-good ones such as Darius Slay, MyCole Pruitt, to name a few.

Gerry i keep hearing all these rumors of trading or cutting Patrick Queen.  I really don’t get that.  I know he hasn’t been the elite off ball backer he was expected to be but he certainly is better than what’s behind him on the depth chart or available in FA   So why the push to send him packing.
Gerry Dulac
12:07
I don't get it either.
Mark
12:07
What are we doing at QB? I can't be the only one sick of the Aaron Rodgers stuff. Honestly, I would have like them to have sent that 6th round draft choice for Geno Smith because why not?
Gerry Dulac
12:07
I don't think you are alone

Last year with DK and this year with Pittman, the big splash of free agency was not a free agent signing but a trade.   Is this now the Steeler preference in order to manage 'comp' picks?
Gerry Dulac
12:08
It's a not bad way to go to ensure getting the player you might want

Kaleb Johnson and Roman Wilson...tough to have two 3rd rounders contribute so little to the team. Do you have a sense that the Steelers believe one or both can make positive contributions to the team in '26?
Gerry Dulac
12:09
Wilson will certainly have a chance with McCarthy. And they are not going to give up on Johnson, though he might have trouble getting playing time behind Warren and Dowdle.

Hi Gerry. Buckeye State resident here (and Miami Of Ohio grad!). Do you believe that Will Howard will ultimately end up as the third-string QB? Or, is it possible that with an impressive preseason, he could be counted on as a reliable backup QB? Thanks.
Gerry Dulac
12:09
I think Howard will be given every chance to move up as far as they need him to go.

What do you make of the Patrick Queen trade rumors? If they pull the trigger, what would you consider a good return, and who would be the player taking his place? Is he on the roster, in the draft, or a FA?
Gerry Dulac
12:10
Here's what I make of 'em -- they're rumors
epiballo
12:10
Tick-Tock -- tick tock: how long will they wait on Aaron Rodgers? If he does not return, do you see them bringing in a veteran, or go with Rudolph, Howard, and a draft pick as the QB room.
Gerry Dulac
12:10
I think the latter is likely

Good morning Gerry.  I thought two first round picks for Crosby was way too high, but find it interesting the Ravens were able to get out of the trade.  They had to know the Medicals.  Any chance this gets scrutinized by the NFL?
Gerry Dulac
12:11
I'm sure they will. But I agree with you -- stupid trade for two No. 1s

If the hammer drops in May, will you inform us where we can go to continue enjoying your Steelers coverage? It's the best!

Thanx man. Stay tuned

Good morning Gerry.    A decent start to free agency and I guess we can out to rest all the free agent QB talk.  Is the next biggest need in FA a guard, or do we wait for the draft to get younger at that position?
Gerry Dulac
12:12
I thought guard was next up on the list, based on what I was told at the combine. But they apparently are content for now with Spencer Anderson in that role

12:12
If you were Omar Kahn, would you have given Aaron Rodgers a deadline to inform the team of his decision, and if not, why not?
Gerry Dulac
12:13
I don't know that they've given him a hard-fast deadline, but they've told him they would like to know (maybe hope to know) before the draft. But they are of the belief this won't drag on like last year. And I sure hope not.

Good morning Gerry.   The deal for 97, I assume was an attempt  to not have the same "holdi-in" issues as last year.   But worry if the Steelers have now set a precedent that other players can use.   Any need to worry or is this a well deserved reward and just a "cap savings" move?
Gerry Dulac
12:15
Many of your points are correct. Heyward wanted a new contract each of the past two years so it wasn't unreasonable to think he would want another one this year. And probably did.

Good morning Gerry, I'm puzzled that nothing is said about Skyler Thompson, based on his exhibition work last year do you think he deserves an invite to camp and if not why in the world did the steelers keep him on injured reserve last year. Thanks
Gerry Dulac
12:15
That is to be determined

Hi Gerry, I still don't know the exact trade compensation but Khan trading for Pittman is so much smarter than overpaying for the FA scraps on the market.  Plus he might've helped himself in the comp pick formula for next year.  Is there some risk I'm not seeing with this?  Otherwise, I have no idea what the Colts and the rest of the league could be thinking.
