Ok kids, we're going to start our chat in about 10-15 min so get ready...

Ok kids, let's get started....Go!!

Gerry, do you anticipate any internal moves to come? Releases? Extensions?
Gerry Dulac
10:49
I'm sure you will see them release some high-priced guys who are impacted by the free-agent signings, starting with Zach Banner. He is scheduled to count $6.6 million in 2022. They just spent over $70 million on their offensive line so his days are numbered. Good dude, tho

Gerry, is it feasible (in reality, not fandom) for us to pick up Tyrann Mathieu and Myles Jack in FA? Feeling hopeful and that this would truly open the draft possibilities...
Gerry Dulac
10:50
No. Not after they money they just spent. While it doesn't compare to what other teams throw out in free agency, it's still a lot for them, especially this early in the process. They're not going to sign Mathieu with a big contract on the docket for Minkah Fitzpatrick.

Gerry - what is the likelihood that Juju is back? Seems his market is similar to last year.
Gerry Dulac
10:51
His market is worse than last year. I think there's a good chance he will be back. I think it's a good move to do so.

With the acquisition of Levi Wallace, do you think the Steelers will not re-sign Witherspoon or pursue another free agent cornerback now?
Gerry Dulac
10:52
I think they will wait to see what happens with Joe Haden. If he doesn't get a multi-year contract in free agency, they are amenable to bringing him back for another year. If not, that increases Witherspoon's chances of being re-signed.

Hey Gerry, appreciate your chats as always. Are you happy with the moves so far, and what do you expect to still see going forward?
Gerry Dulac
10:54
They are exactly what I expected and have said will happen -- address offensive line in free agency with proven starters and bring in a free agent QB who wasn't Russell Wilson or Derek Carr or DeShaun Watson. I don't think you will see too many other big free-agent pickups, not now.

Will the signing of Trubisky, do you believe the Steelers will still draft a QB? And given their additional free agent signings,
Gerry Dulac
10:55
No I don't. And I never did think they would draft a QB. It's not an impressive group.
The Ville
10:55
Gerry - do you think Levi Wallace and Sutton are the two starters on the outside next year? Or do you see Witherspoon returning as well? Seems like he may be asking too much.
Gerry Dulac
10:55
That could well be the case, but don't rule out the possibility of Joe Haden coming back,

If they didn't land Mitch, any insights on who their next coveted QB would have been, or was it Mitch or hit the draft.
Gerry Dulac
10:56
He was the target. But some of the coaches who had him in college liked Jacoby Brissett and wanted to bring him in. Good thing they signed Trubisky
The Ville

Reports are that the IOL in the draft is not deep so it makes sense the team filled that need in FA. With Chuks and Moore set at our tackle spots, do you see the team drafting one this year?
Gerry Dulac
10:57
What made sense is that they had a lot of young unproven guys on the offensive line and they need to bring in one or two guys who were proven starters. And that's what they did and why they did it. Had nothing to do with quality of draft

Will there really be a fair competition for the QB position? Rudolph has played less than a seasons' worth of games; is the book on him closed? I like the Trubisky signing, but hope they let the three compete and the best QB emerge for the season.
Gerry Dulac
10:58
It won't be three competing, it will basically be two. And I think right now Trubisky has the edge.

Hi Gerry, with most likely Pickett and Willis gone by pick 20. I see DL with first pick. Cam up their in years and Tuitt uncertainty. What say you?
Gerry Dulac
10:58
I say you're right, though I don't think it has a lot to do with Pickett and Willis. They could still be around

What does all the interior lineman signing mean for Dotson and k green? And JC?
Gerry Dulac
10:59
It's really not good for Finney and I think it points up their lack of faith in Dotson and getting him on the field.

Morning Gerry, with the OLine free agency moves made, do you think the Steelers focus on best player available?
Gerry Dulac
10:59
yeah, the best player available on the defensive line.

With the signing of Trubisky, do you believe the Steelers will still draft a QB at some point in the draft? And given their other recent free agent signings, and contract extensions, who do you see them attempting to draft in the first round?
Gerry Dulac
11:01
If they don't take a QB in the first round of the draft, they won't take one at all. Why would they. You think any non-first round QB is better than what they have now?? And I don't anticipate Willis slipping to the second round.

What happens to Kendrick Green with the Cole signing. Sure, they'll work through that in camp but when all said and done, do you think he moves to guard or is relegated to backup?
Gerry Dulac
11:01
I think the bigger question is what happens to Kevin Dotson. But I think it means Green will be switched to guard.

Hello Gerry,  what is your overall opinion of the Mitch T. signing, considering the price we paid?  My feeling is that you are paying to try and discover or uncover his upside/ceiling compared to Mason R... to see if he can grow into his top potential, and I'm ok with the price for that as it's not an excessive commitment and still allows for a draft pick this or next year.   Also, do you think the Rooneys/Steelers decided against pursuing D. Watson based on the off the field issues, or just decided the price would be too high to get him?  Thanks so much.
Gerry Dulac
11:03
The Trubisky signing was cheap, basically the going rate for a quality backup QB. I thought it was a great move -- see what he has and is he a better fit than Rudolph. And I don't think the Steelers had any interest in touching Watson with all his issues. Doesn't mean they don't like him or would want him if the circumstances were different.

Gerry, thanks as always for the chats. I really like what the Steelers are trying to do in free agency. They’re focusing on areas of weakness, although only time will tell if they signed the right players. I find it telling that so far, none of the Steelers UFAs have been signed by other teams. It seems the rest of the NFL are not impressed with the team’s talent level. Thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
11:04
Well, I don't think the Steelers have a lot to offer. Also, the Steelers make sure they take care of their best players and keep them under contract, in case you haven't noticed. The Pirates should pay attention from right across the parking lot

Gerry - Myles Jack would look real nice in a Steelers uni. Thoughts? Interest by the team?
Gerry Dulac
11:05
Yes he would. Too bad you're dreaming

On paper I like what the Steelers have done so far in FA, beefing up the O-line and signing Trubisky and getting the DB from Buffalo. Do you see them focusing on defense in the draft now? And any chance if the Dean kid from Georgia is there that they'd go ILB with their first pick?
Gerry Dulac
11:06
Absolutely that will be their focus in the draft, though don't discount WR (because they never do). To me, I draft DLine with two of their first three picks.
