The Steelers are still able to restructure and extend to create some cap that they can spend. With the WR market being bad, any chance Juju ends up back in Pittsburgh? How do you see it? Are they actively in talks to extend to restructure certain players?
Gerry Dulac
11:12
I don't think there's any question the Steelers would want JuJu back, but I think they are also being realistic he might leave for a larger deal than they are willing to pay. So there is always that chance, albeit slim. I don't think they are going to extend anyone right now, but the logical candidates would be Haden and DeCastro because they can't restructure their deals.

FA Flash back: In your opinion, Would have the Steelers been better off landing LB Donta Hightower or did it work out for the best?

Gerry, is this the year we get a halfway decent punter?  I would take one in the 5th round if the best one is still there.  Imagine the defense with a great punter...…….
Gerry Dulac
11:14
Now, first you said "halfway decent punter," then you said "great punter." Which is it? There is a different you know. Berry and his career-high 45.8 average last season qualifies him as a halfway decent punter.

ILB has to be in play for round 1 or 2.. Spillane a solid back up but not starter material.. D Bush coming off a serious injury... No depth.. What day you Mr D? Thanks
Gerry Dulac
11:15
I'm not going to disagree. You won't see it in round 1 and probably not 2, but maybe by the third round

The Steelers are in big trouble!  Up against the cap, losing a significant amount of their defense  to FA and their offensive issues.  Your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac

I'll tell you in November

This team has holes and they are many. In order of need. Offense:  LT, RB, TE, C, WR.  Defense: NT, OLB, ILB, CB.  How can they fill these needs?   In best case only 3-4 draft picks will contribute.  Your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
11:16
You have outlined it very well, though there is no need at WR and CB and the only need at OLB is some depth
Oline
11:16
Chuks dotson draftpick decastro banner........ Am i crazy or do i think that is definitely an upgrade from last year?    If we somehow land a center in free agency it will 100% be an upgrade.....  whats your starting oline next year Gerry?
Gerry Dulac
11:18
I'm not sure it's an upgrade because you forget how well the Steelers pass protected the past couple years. But it might be a better unit to run the ball. All that will be determined by scheme and technique. That's what needs to be changed. But I don't see three Pro Bowlers on that line you suggest, not like the old one

Gerry, do you see the Steelers making a move for a FA center or are they pencilling in Finney there?  Thanks!
Gerry Dulac
11:19
I have stated many times that is their desire. And I don't think they brought in Finney with the idea he will be their starter

Any word on what the Front Office is planning on doing to replace Mike Hilton and Vince Williams? I think Colbert will actually find a more versatile ILB in the draft. However, looking at their track record drafting CB's. I hope they can find someone in Free Agency, no need to waste another draft pick.
Gerry Dulac
11:20
Uh, they already replaced Hilton. His name is Cam Sutton. But they will need an ILB who is a banger.

Any news on restructures to assist with cap issue?
Gerry Dulac

Not yet

Gerrard!! Nice to see you nice to see you old friend.  So now that the stinkie defense was effectively gutted. What's next?
Gerry Dulac
11:21
The defense ranked third in the league last year. Led in sacks and interceptions and among the best in fewest points.

What do you think about releasing Ebron and signing Ertz for 2yrs. Seems like $ could be comparable, more reliable hands, similar lack of blocking!
Gerry Dulac
11:21
So, then, what's the point??
Linebacker Lounge
11:22
Gerry, does the Derek Watts restructuring support strong ST play or more snaps as a full back? Thanks
Gerry Dulac
11:22
It means they paid a lot of money to a guy who has not done much
JJ
11:22
Do you expect that the steelers have something in the works at ILB? Otherwise why wait to release Vince with so little depth?
Gerry Dulac
11:23
They are not stupid, I'm sure they have some type of plan, but I can tell you there is nothing "in the works" that suggests a big move is coming.

No Vince, alualu, hilton and Dupree all gone.  And tj is gonna struggle next yr. He'll face all double teams. No double digit sacks next yr. Be lucky to get to 10. Bet on it

Lil Mike hilts all 5 ft like what 4? And dude got 24 mill over 4 yrs from Bengals.  Totally overpaid correct??
Gerry Dulac
11:25
Free agency is all about being overpaid. No different than Finney getting $8 million for 2 years from Seahawks last year. Or, worse, Jesse James getting $25 million over 5 years from the Lions two years ago. He had 30 catches total for them. Idiocy.

Could we trade for Waller at TE and what would it cost?
Gerry Dulac
11:25
No
JJ
11:25
Steelers created more cap room than they needed to; do you expect any splashy (for them) moves with all the cuts around the league?
Gerry Dulac
11:28
Who says they created more room than they needed? I'm sure they don't think so. And, if they did, it's to be able to sign some players. Free agency isn't over kids. It's just starting. Be patient. They always are

Zach Ertz for a 4th... release Ebron.. Will the Steelers kick the tires?
Gerry Dulac
11:28
Nope

Do you still believe the Steelers sign a C in FA? Lot of good ones still out there. Or maybe a *cheap* veteran RB?
Gerry Dulac
11:29
yes, but we shall see.
