Gerry, surprised with what Alualu left for...are the Steelers that comfortable with Davis?
Gerry Dulac
11:30
Sounds like he might have wanted to go back to Jax for a reason, like his family. He didn't accept any more than the Steelers were paying him and probably less than what they would have paid. Comfortable is not a word they are using with Carlos Davis, not yet anyway. He's only in second season with few snaps

Who's the nose tackle now that Alu Alu signed with the Jacksonville? I don't see a starter or adequate backup on the roster but I'm not a GM.Either Biggs or Davis for 16 games isn't going to good.
Gerry Dulac
11:31
They like Davis more than they like Buggs
Dave Moody
11:31
What's the chances that they move up, and draft a QB in the first round?
Gerry Dulac
11:32
None. If they do, that will answer everyone's questions about whether they are all in for 2021 or building for the future

Hi Gerry, Appreciate you for sharing your time and expertise with us!  We fly up to the Burgh from St. Petersburg once a year for a game.  It is a long ride home when we lose.  Any predictions on a sure win for our annual game this year?  Our schedule is not kind to us like it was last year.
Gerry Dulac
11:32
Oh boy, I never promise that, not in this league.
Justin
11:32
Do you see the Steelers signing a Free Agent or using a draft pick to replace Aluala?  I was the most surprised he left, especially since he didn't break the bank.
Gerry Dulac
11:33
I think there was more to it than the Steelers just letting him go. He obviously wanted to return to Jax for a reason.

What's your perspective on John Brown, maybe a bargain signing for the Stillers given their salary cap issues ?
Gerry Dulac
11:33
I think John Brown would be a great signing. Gives them a deep-speed, big-play guy.

Jesse James future lies in Pittsburgh?
Gerry Dulac
11:34
If I'm betting, I'd say it does
Chad
11:34
Do you think a Decastro or Steve Nelson will get extended in the coming weeks to lower there cap hits and free up a little more cap room?
Gerry Dulac
11:34
I don't, but you never know
Justin
11:34
Are the considering to bring back Williamson or is Spillane the new starter?
Gerry Dulac
11:36
It wouldn't surprise me if they did, now that 98 was released. As for Spillane, I think they will make those decisions after the draft. I don't think they have any concrete plan in which Spillane is a starter.

So in theory you have a starting oline, left to right, of Chuks, Dotson, Finney, DeCastro, Banner. Not scary, average at best, no depth, but workable guys who know the system. Do you still supplement with a 2nd tier UFA or just draft 2-3 OL in this OL heavy draft?
Gerry Dulac
11:39
That's why letting Feiler go for a small price was not very prudent. They don't need to draft 2-3 OL, just one good tackle, maybe first or second round. You can add an OT in late rounds if you like

Do you think the Steelers will take a tight end in free agency? And what about running back? I know they always wait till they can get a real bargain. But, there aren't many running backs that are better than what they have after the first few really good ones.
Gerry Dulac
11:41
It won't surprise me (Jesse James) to see them add a backup TE (Jesse James) in free agency (Jesse James). And I don't think they will sign any RB in free agency because it doesn't make any financial sense to sign a No. 1 back and I think they are fine with Benny Snell and Anthony McFarland as backup RBs.

If all 3 top running backs are still on the board at 24, would the Steelers be wise to trade back later in the 1st or very early in the 2nd, still get 1 of those 3 and probably pick up an extra 3rd round pick, given their many needs?
Gerry Dulac
11:42
That sounds feasible but you have to find the right team willing to do so -- or one desperate to get a certain player still on the board.

11:42
With all of the moves made to-date, are the Steelers now under the cap, or are there still moves that need to be made before the deadline today?
Gerry Dulac
11:43
They are well under the cap as we speak.

11:43
Did Steelers fans over value Juju and Conner and they really aren’t that good?
Gerry Dulac
11:44
JuJu is very good -- tough, dependable, reliable, big-moment guy. Conner is a nice No. 2 back
Steeltown
11:44
Hi Gerry, Now that we’ve re-signed Banner and are bringing back Finney, since this is deep OL in the draft, I would hope we can now concentrate on RB and TE, and get another OL in the 3rd or 4th round. That scenario, improved running game, gives me hope for this year, thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
11:45
I think you will see an OT before the fourth round, and probably before the third.

The loss of which free agent will hurt the Steelers the most?
Gerry Dulac
11:46
No question it's Dupree, though they really like Hightower. He is ahead of where Bud was as a rookie or second-year player. Give him time. Otherwise, it's Feiler because it doesn't make sense to get rid of your best tackle for a cheap price.
TexStill
11:46
Do you look for a 1-2 year transition RB or are you in for going RB in round 1?
Gerry Dulac
11:47
I'm in. The run game is your biggest weakness. They knew it. Fix it.

Gerry I believe that this is the last year of Rudolph’s contract. Will he be able to leave as a free agent after this year ?  Do The Steelers maintain an option year on him or not?
Gerry Dulac
11:48
This is his last year and there is no option on third-round choices. It will be interesting to see how and when they handle the situation

Steelers are barely under the cap and probably need to sign a few players in FA plus a draft class.  Which current roster players would you expect to be cut, restructured or extended to create some cap space?
Gerry Dulac
11:48
I think you have seen most of that happen already
Alex
11:48
How much cap space do you see if 2022? I know Ben and DeCastro will come off the book but we also have to re-sign Watt and Minkah. I am not sure if we will have cap space to make this year's NE type splash.
Gerry Dulac
11:49
I think you answered your own question because of Watt and Minkah
