Were you surprised at Matt Feiler's contract from the Chargers? I didn't see the guranteed money but a $7MM average per year seems like a lot for a player like him?
Gerry Dulac
11:49
It's not a lot for a starting right tackle in this league. Which is why the Steelers letting him go makes little sense.

Is this rumor true that the Steelers offered Juju a 1 year deal? I certainly don’t believe it, at least because of our cap situation. Plus, would Juju really need to prove it? He’s been here for 4 years. The Steelers should know what they have in him.

They do, and you shouldn't believe rumors

With Alualu gone will they finally invest a fourth round or higher pick in the draft on DL? They haven’t used more than sixth round pick since 2014 with the exception of Hargrave who obviously is no longer around either.
Gerry Dulac

Agreed

Paul said Colbert is likely to retire next season after Ben goes. Do you agree and do you think Tomlin will stick around with a new GM and QB?
Gerry Dulac

Paul who?

Ok agree to disagree with Feiler.  I just didnt see much difference in run game or pass blocking with anyone we put out there.  especially run game.  I do agree the competition at tackle is no longer there, hoping we get a stud in the draft

I'm sure they will try. Feiler was their best tackle. That's not me talking. That's from the players who know.

Are long term contracts a thing of the past in the NFL?
Gerry Dulac
11:52
They are this year with reduced salary cap.

keep on seeing that the Steelers org. does a very good job on managing the salary cap. So why when it comes down to a new season they are up against the wall on cap issues and have to shop at flea markets for players.
Gerry Dulac
11:52
I think their record of success speaks for itself when it comes to managing their roster/money

How could the Steelers allow so many UFA and RFA come due at the same time? Could they not have done better due diligence and saw this coming or planned things better?
Gerry Dulac
11:53
That's life in the world of reduced salary cap. They're not the only team suffering and struggling

Gerry thanks for your work. Upsets me that so many question Ben’s  toughness because he allegedly won’t run the quarterback sneak. There wasn’t another quarterback alive who would’ve made the tackle after the bus fumbled the ball in the Indianapolis playoff game. He has played through bloody nose and all kinds of injuries…In the early part of the last decade,  Todd Haley had an aversion to the quarterback running the sneak. I seem to remember in 2018 after Haley was gone,  that he did execute it a couple of times with success… Then he was  hurt in 2019,  then nursing a surgically repaired elbow last year it’s understandable not to try that play! Do you agree that  this criticism is unfounded?
Gerry Dulac
11:54
Of course it is. He is tougher than most QBs, trust me.

Gerry we have to get a running back in round 1, right?
Gerry Dulac
11:54
Yep

Gerry,  Will the Steelers be getting any compensatory picks in the 2022 draft for the losses of Dupree, Alualu, Hilton and Feiler?   thanx
Gerry Dulac
11:55
Of course they will. But so will a lot of teams. The Steelers losses will outweigh their FA gains.
And, with that, that's all the time we have today kids. Lots of good questions. Sorry I didn't get to them all. Try again next week
