OK kids, we will start our chat in just a few minutes.

Let's get started...Go!!
Retire21.

Happy for Devon Bush’s new 3-year deal. He gets labeled as a Steelers draft bust but didn’t he have a really good rookie year before that gruesome injury?
Gerry Dulac
9:56
Yes he did. And the Steelers went up 10 spots to No. 10 to get him. At the time, looked like a great move. Then the injury

Hi Gerry, do you think the Steelers will draft a guard and defensive lineman in the first four rounds? I would if I was GM. I miss watching teams trying to run against Aaron Smith.
Gerry Dulac
9:57
I do, and maybe in the first three rounds. They are not going to be content with just Spencer Anderson as their left guard. And it is never time to forsake the D-line. They still need another young stud

When will AR2 retire?  He hit his expiration date along time ago.  He’s dragging the franchise down with bad decisions.
Gerry Dulac
9:57
I'll ask him

How many estimated comp picks will the Steelers get next year?  They dominate this system, they gotta have way more than any other team since the nfl started doing this.
Gerry Dulac
10:01
Hard to tell, but keep in mind the only starter they lost was Seumalo. OK, maybe Calvin Austin III. But Gainwell, Heyward were backups. Pittman and Dean won't count against them, but Dowdle will. I'm never quite sure how to predict the system

Will you be attending the draft next month?
Gerry Dulac
10:02
Yes, but not on the North Shore. I will be at the So Side with the rest of the Steelers top brass

Hi Gerry:  Thanks for the chats.  Were there any Steeler major contributors with undisclosed injuries last year, that affected their play, and are expected to be rehabilitated?  I’m thinking of TJ, Ramsey, Queen, Fautanu, Frazier, Herbig, Freiermuth, Wilson.   My guess is all were not disclosed to public but changed their performances.
Gerry Dulac
10:03
Nearly every player has some form of injury that might affect their performance, especially as the season wears on. And, if any injuries might affect a player's status, it has to be listed on the team's official injury report. If not, teams get fined, and fined heavily, by the league

I think one of Tomlin’s weaknesses was in hiring a strong staff. For example, not one of his coordinators over the last 10 years has gotten a comparable job after leaving the Steelers — Haley, Fichtener, Canada, Smith, Butler, Austin.  Has McCarthy done a better job so far?
Gerry Dulac
10:05
And not one of the assistants -- let alone coordinators -- HE hired in 19 years has ever left for a promotion. The last two OCs who worked with McCarthy in Dallas -- Kellen Moore and Brian Schottenheimer -- each got head-coaching jobs.

Which current Steelers do you believe are future Hall of Famers? Do they have more hall of famers than any other franchise?  They have to
Gerry Dulac
10:07
Aaron Rodgers of course, but he will go in as a Packers player. Maybe Cam Heyward. Probably TJ Watt. And the Bears, Packers and Giants all have more HOFers than the Steelers.

Gerry, the Seahawks only have 4  picks in this year’s draft. What bundle of picks could the Steelers offer to get their first round pick? That would have Pittsburgh picking at 21, 32 & 55 in the first two rounds.
Gerry Dulac
10:09
Well, they would probably have to give up that 55th pick you reference for starters. And at least one if not two of the third-rounders.

Any thoughts on what QB the Steelers may draft? I am thinking Allar or Nussmeier in Round 2-3
Gerry Dulac
10:11
I don't think the Steelers will consider a QB until Rd 3. Nussmeier, even Ty Simpson, do not fit the physical mold the Steelers prefer in their quarterbacks. They're too small. And Allar is everything Will Howard is not. He played his worst in big games.

Hey Gerry. Are those four picks in rounds 6-7 worth anything?   Why would any team want to make any trade to get any of those? Perhaps those picks are good for digging around for a future punter?
Gerry Dulac
10:12
They got Antonio Brown on the sixth round. Brett Keisel on the seventh. Some teams need an infusion on young talent and will take all the picks they can get, even low rounds.

Hi Gerry:  Thanks again for the chats.  Just curious.  I know it’s soon, but from what you hear do think McCarthy and his Steeler couches pay more attention to PFF scores and ratings than the Tomlin coaches?  PFF isn’t perfect and they do seem to play favorites, but the trends are pretty accurate.
Gerry Dulac
10:13
I do not know that, sorry
SP
10:13
Gerry, what do you think will be the most noticeable differences in the offensive and defensive schemes under McCarthy and Graham?
Gerry Dulac
10:14
That's what we're going to find out and I think a lot of people should be excited/curious to see. McCarthy will definitely have a big impact on the offense. And Graham has more talent to work with than he had in his other stops. So let's see.

gerry when a new receiver comes to the Steelers and is introduced, do you think the GM and coach have reassured them that AR will be throwing to them?
Gerry Dulac
10:15
It's probably tough to reassure anything when you're dealing with a quarterback who is 42. But I'm sure that a large part of the discussion.

Hi Gerry, you said the Steelers are done with bigger free agents. Does that mean LG will come down to Spencer Anderson as a early to mid round draft pick?
Gerry Dulac
10:15
At this point, yes.

Morning! I have quietly sat back and laughed at all of the Will Howard enthusiasm and I think MOST of it comes from two or three ‘experts’ comparing him to Ben and Josh Allen when he was first drafted. That being said, if they plan on taking another so-called experiment
experimental QB like Allar or Simpson, I feel like they already have that in Howard and they would strangulate the evaluation process by having two of those. I think if they go that route, go w Howard and use those other picks to trade or develop the roster. The one thing I’ve learned as I’ve gotten older, nobody, and I mean NOBODY knows which QB’s will hit, and which ones won’t until they play for a year or three. Darnold, Carson Wentz, on and on. None of us know for sure.
Gerry Dulac
10:17
You are right on many fronts, including what you said about strangulating (good word) the process of developing. McCarthy is all-in on developing Howard, which means he likes what he sees. Simpson is not a Steelers-style QB

GM Gerry, any word on where we can follow you come may? Hoping the PG can figure this out.
Gerry Dulac
10:19
Not yet. Let's see how this plays out. But I'll keep you posted. Either way, I'll still be on radio and TV all season, beginning with training camp.

Hi Gerry. Any remaining players that you think the Steelers are likely to cut before the season starts? Thx
Gerry Dulac
10:19
Not really. Not until training camp

With all the signings in the secondary to this point, how do you see Jaylen Ramsey being used this season? Thx
