HELLO GERRY, Happy it’s spring for Golf but not the weather we have right now… anyways.. We have seen an Offseason of production but one thing that has yet to happen is a Mike T extension… has there been any indication as to when and/or if that will happen? Thank Gerry you’re the best!

Good morning, Gerry. Recently, we have brought in a lot of former first rounders and a lot of guys that Mike “liked coming out of college”. Then they couldn’t succeed with their first team. So, we bring them in, and they can’t succeed here. Maybe they were great college players that can’t play in the NFL. Fields fits that mold. Why do the Steelers think they can turn these players into NFL players when other staffs and organizations couldn’t?

Gerry: What time of year does MT’s contract extension usually get settled? Are these aggressive FA moves just a sign of the Kahn times or is there a greater sense of urgency and possibly desperation for a win-now-to-stay-employed approach?

It's typically done in the spring. And the moves are a result of the team president effectively saying his patience is running thin about the lack of playoff wins the past seven years

Hey Gerry, I realize the Steelers picked up two high potential QBs for little money, but what happens after this year? If Russ produces he’ll want a big contract so where does that leave us with Fields? Won’t he be a $25 million cap hit next year?

Tomlin spent the early part of his career as a HC with an obvious franchise QB. I get the impression at times that has hampered his ability now to properly develop a younger QB. Would you be able to offer any insight on that since you tend to get a glimpse behind the curtain, so to speak?

Lots of speculation around WRs whether Free Agent or thru Trade.  But haven't heard any mention of interest in Josh Reynolds.  He would seem to be a good fit as a #2 or #3 (if WR2 comes from draft).    Also, it seems a Center must be taken early in Draft to be long term solution, but still need a backup -- any chance of a Mason Cole return ?  At least you know what you have....  Thanks

Not expecting a Mason Cole return, though I will tell you the Steelers thought he was more of a quality backup than a starting center. Your mention of Josh Reynolds is the first time I've heard his name

Given the mismanagement and miscommunication around the Kenny situation coming on the heels of Canadian dumpster fires affect the timing or nature of a Tomlin extension?  We have a couple guys who play different styles on one year contracts as we try to bring in a new coordinator.  I can imagine next year, people saying 'we need to give it a few more seasons, seeing as how Russ doesn't use the middle of the field.'

The mismanagement and miscommunication you reference were words used by the quarterback who decided it was time to move on after two years in the NFL. Mason Rudolph was within his rights, after six years in the league and being dumped on three times, to say it was time to move on. Not the guy who said it.

Looks like we’ll start next season with the same disfunction at QB as last season: An older veteran with no upside is promised the starting job, while the younger better player with the upside sits, and the crowd yells until Tomlin gives in after the team is 1-3. Agree?

The Diontae trade is still a head scratcher- then created a roster void for seemingly no reason other than they wanted to give him away.  Was there that much animosity on both sides to create a need to court WR1s or draft one early?
