Hey Gerry, I asked about QB competition last week and now KP is gone. Since we don't know how free agency unfolds under Omar Khan then let me ask you how come the NFL hasn't schedule a game for the Steelers in Mexico again. Last time was a pre-season game and the coach was Bill Cowher.
Gerry Dulac
10:26
It's coming amigo maguire. 2025

With how many holes we still need to fill when will we start making some more moves in Free Agency ? We usually don’t like to enter the draft with this many holes.

Tonto, I suggest you get the latest updates from Kemosahbee

How could the MT and KC not have seen the immaturity and short comings of Kenny at PIT being in such close proximity. All the scouts had him a late 2nd or 3rd round pick and were proved correct.  Again MT’s lack of being able to evaluate NFL caliber talent.  Thanks.

OK, enough with the accurate observations.

Good morning Gerry. Any progress reports on the Steelers who suffered season-ending injuries last season?
Gerry Dulac
10:29
Not really. The biggest question, of course, is Cole Holcomb. He had the most serious injury and there is concern about when (maybe even if) he can come back.

Is this about Aiyuk?👀
Gerry Dulac
10:30
That price tag is a little high...

Hi Gerry. Thanks for the chats. I appreciate your insight. Seems like the Steelers are still paying for Dino's scholarship. No scholarship...no Canada experiment equals a better OC for Ben's last lear and Kenny's first two years. Nobody could make that terrible offense work except for Ben when he turned off his headset at halftime and did what he thought would work. Kenny's play suffered and the Steelers went looking for another qb instead of actually finding out if he can play. Now they have a soon to be 36 year old who is getting paid $40 mil to not be the Broncos qb and another former 1st round project who so far has 10 wins and 28 losses. What say you?
Gerry Dulac
10:30
I'm not sure of the question in there Steph

Hi Gerry. Knowing the Steelers always spend to the cap every year, how much do they generally need to sign their draft class and last minute free agents in the event of injury? Will they be looking to renegotiate any current contracts to free up more space?
Gerry Dulac
10:31
They always keep a specified amount set aside for their draft picks.

I realize we are in need of WR help. Where does Austin fit into it all? You do not hear comments about Steelers looking for him to take on a bigger role. All I am reading is we need a starting WR opposite Pickens. Does the team not see upside potential with Austin?
Gerry Dulac
10:32
Yes they do. But they look at him more as a No. 3 receiver. After all, there has not been any body of work on his part to convince them he is ready to be a No. 2
Hi Gerry -
10:32
There has been extraordinary movement in FA by the Steelers standards, but how much better are they?  Running back essentially the same DL but a year older, a push to slight improvement at Safety and Corner, only one ILB with impact ability, big questions at WR, and two QBs nobody wanted based on their prices. Even if the draft falls their way, do you really see them contenting in the AFC?
Gerry Dulac
10:33
They are better than the 10-7 team you saw last year.
Ampipe Bulldog10:33Tomlin mishandled KP since that Jets game. He lied to Trubisky, Rudolph and most likely Pickett about the qb competition. I heard you said that Kenny leaving wasn't 100% on him. Does Tomlin get some of the blame? Do you think Dan Rooney would have tolerated the lies that Tomlin has told not only the qbs but others like Blount, Harrison and Ingram to name a few?
10:35
Your points are well-taken and pretty much spot on. But let's be clear -- Pickett did it to himself. Have you paid attention to how Mason Rudolph handled being dumped on two or three times by the Steelers? He handled it like a true professional and what happened? He saved their season in 2023. Didn't cry, complain or moan.

10:35
Do you think there is any interest in the likes of Bud Dupree or Terrell Edmund's for backup roles?
Gerry Dulac
10:36
Probably not, but who knows.

What’s the thinking behind the talk of extending Russell Wilson’s one year contract already?  At this point we don’t know if his play is that of a starter who has several years of quality play left or if he’s now on the path of a career backup, so how would they know what to pay him now?  Without having those answers at this point, I would think his salary could be anywhere between $40m (starter money) to $8m (backup money).  It struck me as odd to even have the extension conversation now—can you explain?
Gerry Dulac
10:37
They're not having it now. It will be after the season. He is playing on a one-year "show-me" contract. If it goes as both sides expect, both sides are amendable to a longer deal.

10:37
Does mike tomlin have final say over everything
Gerry Dulac
10:37
It depends. I can safely say the one person who has the final say over everything is Art Rooney II
Now What?
10:38
Good morning, Gerry. How long do you expect the stadium study that David Moorehouse is involved with to go on, until there's a determination whether or not to just renovate Acrisure Stadium? Also, is there a lease the University of Pittsburgh football program signed, too?
Gerry Dulac
10:38
I don't know that answer. The simple answer is, as long as it takes to reach their solution.

Good morning Mr. Dulac. Where is the reinforcement against the aging out of the DL going to come from? Re-signing Montravious Adams isn’t it, and I don’t see DeMarvin Leal coming to the rescue. Yeah, it’s great to get an improved 3rd-round pick for Kennn-EEE, but can’t help but think that the Steelers would have been better off a couple of years ago to have given up a 3rd rounder to move up and have gotten Julius Davis of Georgia. Then they would have a stout defensive line to show for the pick, and not just saying they were shrewd to get a 3rd-rounder out of an unsuccessful 1st-round pick.
Gerry Dulac
10:41
George, I didn't even have to read your entire question to know the answer. It's why I have said for the last 2 years, going back to when they drafted a QB on the first round, that they needed a stud defensive end, a Pro Bowl, Cam Heyward type. Signing Adams, to me, was just going along with the same ol thing. He should be a one-year deal in May or June

Thanks for the chats. Was always curious, what is the general order of reporters during Tomlin's press conference? I noticed you know get the first question now, but after that its seems lik just reporters shouting out questions, Is there an employee off camara picking them or is just whoever is the loudest.
Gerry Dulac
10:42
You've noticed that, eh? There is no particular order. Maybe my colleagues just show deference to me. After that, all bets are off. Certain reporters like to shout out questions and, trust me, Mike Tomlin is well aware of who is shouting the loudest.

Hello Gerry . Thank you as always for the chat . I cannot believe how Khan/Tomlin have destroyed the future of the team . I do not absolve Pickett of his role but how can there be no adult in the room . If they were bringing Wilson , why did they not make sure that KP was ok with backup role after knowing last year drama and if he was not ok , they  should have signed Rudolph but we lost both QB with a winning record . They gave away a first round pick who could have become something literally for free. They want us to feel excited about “fixing culture “ after they brought an egoist Wilson  who could  not get along with his teammates in Seattle and Denver and a 10-28 malcontent Fields who openly was critical of his coaches rather than taking responsibility. May be khan/ Tomlin finally got their draft crushes but this is going to blow up in their faces after wasting couple of years . They gave Diontae away for an average CB . May be it’s about khan putting his stamp on the team but I miss Colbert . Thank you
Gerry Dulac
10:43
Well, there's your answer right there. The adult in the room should have been Pickett and we saw how he handled the situation.
BrooklynAdam
10:43
Do the Steelers have any interest in any of the older free agent safeties who were released the past few weeks?  Justin Simmons, Jamal Adams, etc.
Gerry Dulac
10:44
Not after signing DeShon Elliott. I thought Simmons woulda been a good fit
Stanley Kovach
10:44
When will Mike Tomlin's extension be announced? Gerry, will it indeed be a three year extension? Could this be the last one he signs before possible tetirement?
Gerry Dulac
10:45
It should be in the spring and it should be for the usual two years. The only time it was a three-year extension was last time, and that's because the previous time was a one-year extension with a one-year option.

fyi jerry the snowballs at santa crowd including media is all over twitter calling your kp reporting nothing more than a hatchet job on the way out the door
Gerry Dulac
10:46
The hatchet job was performed by the QB, which is why he was shown the door. FYI
