What are the chances of the Steelers adding a free agent veteran RB -- like Ajayi -- to take up some of the slack? Deangelo Williams helped the team quite a bit when he came.  And if the idea is to run the ball more in 2019, maybe someone is needed to keep Conner's wheels from falling off.

It is and no. They don't need depth. They need a defensive playmaker behind the line of scrimmage.

Fortunately, there are more of them than the self-aggrandizing syncophants who promote themselves at the expense of others. However, and more disturbing, that gap is not widening, but shrinking.

It seems with Barron and Edmunds we have 2 players of about the same skill set to fill the ILB/SS (Viper) position pretty well. Does that negate the need to find an ILB in the draft or is it just to buy time so a rookie ILB does not get thrown into the lineup too soon?

I am always wary of national media "hype" teams like the Browns now.  I think we can still win the division next year.  Bengals are new Browns and Ravens lost a lot of key players.  Plus Lamar may have a rough 2nd season as teams pick up tendencies.  Am I wrong to think we may win 10 or 11 and take the division?

Having a tough time dealing  with how little the Steelers got for AB. I thought that when a player is under a contract that does not include a no-trade clause and that player refuses a trade then the team does not have to pay him or play him until he agrees to a trade. If so, the Steelers could have put him on a shelf for a year and trade him next year? Did they have that option?

Morning Gerry. With both White and Bush more than likely gone way before the Steelers pick, I see them taking one of the CB's. God forbid if one of our starting CB's go down with an injury because the depth doesn't look all that good. I don't see how the Steeler's can't take a CB in the 1st round.

Think about how unlucky we've been with ILBs in the draft. If we had this same pick last year, we would have easily been able to get Van Der Esch or Evans. I hope fans are ready for another surprise pick (a la Edwards from last year), because this draft is not shaking out well for the "positions of need."

You hit the nail on the head re: not needing 10 new players. At best there are 2, maybe 3, starting positions that could use upgrades where we don't feel comfortable. Time to go and get ourselves a high quality player like White. Unfortunately, I don't see the Steelers making the kind of trade that would require
