OK kids, we might start a little early today, so get the questions ready....
9:48
Ok, here we go....

I don't feel we have gotten an honest explanation from the Steelers regarding the QB changes. They said they wanted Mason Rudolph back and insisted they believed in Kenny Pickett. As such, they could have easily signed Mason for only $ 4 million and kept Pickett happy by just saying he's QB1 going onto camp, even after signing Russell Wilson. Were the Steelers dishonest all along or if not, what really happened?
Gerry Dulac
9:50
Well, Bill, as we have learned from politics, you shouldn't always expect an honest answer. And it's not their job to keep a quarterback who is 14-10 happy. It is his job to be a professional.
Brad
9:50
Gerry, are talks with Tyler Boyd dead or what?
Gerry Dulac
9:50
I don't know if they were really alive
Danny
9:50
Can Tomlin over rule khan on draft picks an free agent signing
Gerry Dulac
9:51
He can, and it can work the other way too, but it doesn't. They're plan is to always find some way to common ground on draft picks and FA signings.
Danny
9:51
Do u Tomlin coaching the steelers longer then chuck noll did
Gerry Dulac
9:52
He's closing in on it. I never thought it would happen, and I still don't, but you never know...

9:52
Hey Gerry, is it safe to say that Cordarrelle Patterson is currently the Steelers #2 receiver?
Gerry Dulac
9:52
No. He is brought in as a kick returner

9:52
Will you continue to do these chats from the retirement couch when it's time?
Gerry Dulac
9:53
More questions like that, it will be time

The team really seems to be going all out in terms of roster construction to achieve postseason success this year. Do you expect that will translate into in-game decisions? Do you think Tomlin will be more aggressive?
Gerry Dulac
9:54
I don't think their off-field decisions will affect their in-game decisions. But I think Tomlin has always been aggressive.
Bill
9:54
thanks for delaying your round today!
Gerry Dulac
9:54
Least I can do
Danny
9:54
Is there any chance the steelers go dline in around 1
Gerry Dulac
9:56
Sure, but there aren't a lot of prospects who fit that DE/DT mold. There is one they like, but probably not at No. 20 and probably not likely to be around in round 2
Steve-o in Canton
9:56
Should I be worried that the Steelers are going into the draft needing to find at least two, opening day starters? I see Center, WR, OT and CB as major needs?
Gerry Dulac
9:56
They need a center and a No. 2 receiver. They have every other starter
The Ville
9:56
Hi Gerry - lots of WR depth signings but the lack of top end talent is worrisome. Is Boyd still an option or will we see a WR (maybe 2) be drafted pretty high?
Gerry Dulac
9:57
You will see a receiver drafted high, probably by round 2

Mike Tomlin described the Kenny Pickett trade saying KP “wanted a change of scenery”. However, that hardly makes any sense. KP would have had a decent chance of starting this season even behind the aging Wilson, who was only on a one year contract. But with the Eagles, KP knew he would never start for 2 years and his 5th year option won’t be picked up. So its not “a change of scenery”. What really went down?
Gerry Dulac
9:58
Kenny Pickett said himself it was "time to move on." He wanted out. Not a good decision, not a good attitude. Did it to himself. Dumb

9:58
Who’s the big catch, Gerry? And if you won’t say specifically, any idea of when or what holdups there are?
Gerry Dulac
9:59
The holdup is usually that the other team is not willing to make a trade
the real guest

Gerry, It is very difficult for fans not to be perplexed about the Wilson signing. We can drink the kool-aid and see a future HOF/all pro/ SB winner under center for the 2024 Steelers or we can watch the film of Wilson's last few years  and see a turnover/sack magnate. Is there some middle ground you can recommend?
Gerry Dulac
9:59
Yeah, understanding that maybe he is better than what they had. That's what we will find out

Assuming Russell Wilson is the starter, who on the Steelers coaching staff will be responsible for working with Justin Fields during the season to help him develop the skill set necessary to play QB at a high level in the NFL?
Gerry Dulac
10:00
The QB coach and Mike Sullivan, for starters
Center of the Universe

Khan suggested we could trade for a center. Any idea on who might be a target?
Gerry Dulac
10:00
I don't think they are really considering that. There's not a good quality starter out there
Sal
10:00
Happy Wednesday Gerry !
after this start of FA. How do you feel about the team? I think we are in a better position than last year and we are still missing the draft
Gerry Dulac
10:00
I agree Sal
Steve-o in Canton
10:01
Will the Cordarrelle Patterson signing limit the use of Connor Heyward?
Gerry Dulac
10:01
I don't think so. Patterson is brought in to primarily be the kick returner and a backup
Lenny from NY
10:01
Good morning Gerry. What do you think about trading Najee to the RB needy cowboys for a third this year or next year. IMO Warren is utilized better and with Patterson we could have another strong back. Thoughts? Thank you
Gerry Dulac
10:02
Lenny, I don't think that is going to happen. Nor would I suggest it should.
