OK kids, we're going to start our chat in approx 15-20 minutes so get your questions ready...

OK, let's get our chat started..Go!!

Hi Gerry.  Barring injury setbacks, do you anticipate seeing Finney as the starting center for the season, or is the starter not yet on the roster?  Thanks.
Gerry Dulac
10:52
I don't and they don't. Teams don't sign starters for one year, $990k. They sign backups for that amount

Are the Steelers done signing? It still seems like they have so many needs, and not enough draft picks. Still some good, but cheap guys out there. Thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
10:53
No they are not. And one of those cheap guys was the RB they just signed -- Kalen Ballage

The Minkah for a No. 1 may turn out to be one of the best trades in Steelers history. Could  they trade a 1 or a 2,for like an Orlando Brown from Baltimore?
Gerry Dulac
10:53
No.

Any chance Bell comes back? At all?
Gerry Dulac

Nope.

Hi Gerry, love the chats!  If Harris or Etienne are gone by #24, would you still select Williams (even though he ran 4.55 at his pro day)?  Or would look for the best remaining OL or even draft a defensive player instead?  Thanks!
Gerry Dulac
10:57
It depends what kind of grade they have on the players available, but you can pretty much be assured it will be a RB or OT, possibly a center. I like Javonte Williams. And I don't think anybody was overly disappointed w his time. He is 5-10, 220 pounds after all.

Steelers have any interest in the 6 or 7 Pitt players that might get drafted?
Gerry Dulac
10:58
I'm sure they do, but I can't tell you which ones. Maybe one of the edge guys as a backup

Gerry, great work!

Let's find this guy something!!

If the Steelers draft a running back high, do you expect it to be someone that fits in an outside zone scheme given that Canada's history?
Gerry Dulac
10:58
I sure hope so.

What did you make of the Kevin Na- DJ dust up last week at the Match Play?
Gerry Dulac
11:00
I like Kevin Na. I think he did that because of the recent flaps there have been in match play with conceded putts and he wanted to make sure DJ didn't get caught in the middle of another.

Hi Gerry, even with his injury history, would you select Landon Dickerson at #24 if Harris and Etienne are gone?  Everything that I've read and heard about him has been really good.  If he remains healthy, he sounds like he could be the next great Steelers center.  Thanks!
Gerry Dulac

Wouldn't be at all surprised if that happened.

Hi, Gerry. What's your take on the 17 game season? Would you rather stay as it was or even go to 18 games (9 home and 9 away) We all know it's about money. for the players complaining, can't we just let them have 1 or 2 optional games off?
Gerry Dulac
11:01
I'm always of the "if it aint broke don't fix it" belief.

Gerry, use you imagination the draft and preseason are behind us and it’s the first game of the regular season. What will the Steelers game plan for the offense look like?
Gerry Dulac
11:02
The things I use my imagination for have nothing to do with football.

Have you ever had a source deliberately give you bad information? How do you weed that out? I think some national sports reporters get fed a line every now and then.
Gerry Dulac
11:02
No I have not, but if I did he would no longer be a source. I would hope other reporters do the same thing

Gerry - Thanks for the chats.  Unless you are sitting on the the top couple of picks in Round 1, there seems to be a lot of uncertainty around what will happen.  Yes, the Steelers need a three down running back and an OT, but what happens when there is not a first round worthy one available when your turn comes around?  Need a center, but will one be there at 24, is there any center worthy at 24?  Lots of examples around the league of what happens when you reach and the Steelers are not immune to that.  Have to think they are more disciplined than most and will make the best choice at the right time.
Gerry Dulac
11:04
There is uncertainty around every draft, especially in the first round, especially at the top. It can disrupt and affect the remainder of the round.

Is there any real, clear direction with Ben R's successor? Rudolph seems to be a stop-gap option, but do you see a draft pick or a dangling QB like Burrow in the cards?
Gerry Dulac
11:04
Not this year. I think they are content with what they have with Rudolph...for now.
Ralph LA
11:04
Do you know how many preseason games the coaches feel that they need?
Gerry Dulac
11:06
They certainly don't need four, not the way they treat that fourth game. But coaches probably like a fourth game to evaluate the young talent, who to keep and who to cut. Though, to be honest, they pretty much have their mind made up after two preseason games.

With Masons contract ending after this season and it likely being Bens last do you think they try to sign Mason to a small extension or just tag him next off-season or let him walk?
Gerry Dulac
11:07
They won't tag him because the tag price for QB is highest in the league, way more than Rudolph has merited. I think you will see them try to sign him to a two-year or three-year deal. They won't let him walk. That's absurd.

Hi Gerry, are you really comfortable with the current CB situation? A group that includes a 32 year old starter, a first time starter, and 2 players with very limited experience.  It seems to me that they almost have to address this area relatively early in the draft, regardless of their history of drafting CB's.  If your opposition to this goes beyond the history issue, please explain.
Gerry Dulac
11:11
To quote the loquacious Ike Taylor, "It is what it is." That's what can happen with a flattened cap in free agency. Look at the bright side: At least they kept Haden and re-signed Sutton.

Do you see the Steelers extending any player contracts this year?

Yes ...T.J. Watt
