Gerry, will you please confirm that Bruce Arians was hired by Bill Cowher and promoted by Dan Rooney because he wanted to maintain continuity for Ben? Thanks!
Gerry Dulac
2:54
Bruce Arians was retained and promoted when Cowher stepped down because the Steelers wanted to maintain continuity and they needed an OC because Ken Whisenhunt left to be head coach in Arizona

Great PPG article on our edge rush logjam. What do you see as the best outcome here? I'm starting to wonder if a post-June 1 trade for TJ is the move. It clears $32M in cap space for 2026 and leaves only $10M in dead money this year. After Herbig out-produced TJ in 2025 (8 sacks and an elite PFF grade vs TJ's 7 sacks) is it time to just take the salary relief, maybe a mid-round pick, and let Herbig take the keys while he's ascending? Or is moving a legend like TJ still of the table regardless of the math?

I think a lot of what you said at the end is likely the case. It would have been more likely last year, especially before the big contract, when his return would have been greater than it is now

Hi Gerry - who is more connected to Rogers, AR2 or Mike?  Rooney says before the draft then Mike comes out the next day and basically say the opposite,
Gerry Dulac

I think McCarthy talks to him more frequently. But there is only one man who makes the decision

Gerry, this time of year you hear so many folks say the Steelers should not reach for a QB in the draft.  While this is true, I would also imagine that teams rarely think they are reaching, and that the guy they are drafting is worth that spot.  Only with hindsight, and a player not panning out does it then become a reach.  You never hear a team called out for a reach that ended up working out... only when they fail (which is after the fact).  Need Gene Collier to add "this was a reach pick" to his annual trite award list!!
Gerry Dulac
2:57
There will not be a reach because the Steelers believe there is only one QB worthy of a first-round pick

Hello Gerry.  Am I the only one who thinks Watt is not over the hill and will have a fantastic season this year?
Gerry Dulac
2:57
It might be a small club, but you might be right

Gerry do the Steelers draft Billy schrauth from Notre Dame even with the guard signing i think they should draft him
Gerry Dulac
2:57
Not sure

Hi Gerry! How worried should we be about Broderick Jones availability for 2026? I’ve seen and heard on podcasts that some fear it could be career ending, similar to the situation we had with S Ryan Watts. Is this true?
Gerry Dulac
2:58
It is not career-ending. The people who say that have no clue

QB with more cache if AR doesn't return: Cousins?
Gerry Dulac
2:59
Mason Rudolph?

2:59
Is there a position other than WR, OG, or S that could be their first pick, e.g. can't miss DL?
Gerry Dulac
2:59
Possible. How about TE??

Even after adding Pittman JR the WR unit is still thin. Definitely drafting a WR early, likely leave with 2 WRs in the draft due to the amount of picks they have. Do you see them adding a FA at the position post draft? Maybe say like a 1 year deal for Deebo Samuel to throw into the slot if the price is right or potentially a reunion with JuJu Smith-Schuster for the slot. Assuming this highly drafted WR is our 3, maybe this FA is our WR4
Gerry Dulac

That's why they will draft a WR high. The only other WRs on the roster right now are Roman Wilson and Ben Skowronek. Not exactly a burgeoning cupboard

If AR doesn't return (I know, he's returning), does OG become a bigger need to protect Mason, Will, and whoever the other guy is?
Gerry Dulac
3:01
Where did you hear Art Rooney isn't returning??

You have hinted at possible interest in Sadiq twice... Is he possibly in play for the Steelers?
Gerry Dulac
3:01
Did I??

Hey Gerry. Safety or WR? Which has the better chance of being the Steelers first round pick?
Gerry Dulac
3:02
Probably WR, but not definitively

Gerry, over the years, esp recently, you’ve made some backhanded remarks about Tomlin, like today’s “breakfast” comment. Did you respect for him wain over time? I know mine did.
Gerry Dulac
3:03
No. I just got tired of waiting for him, even though I knew it was coming.

If Simpson is there do they draft him at 21?

No

Do you know Bob Labriola well? Sometimes you both can get a similar demeanor in answers, but you often have more wit (and entertainment) behind your's. And I do appreciate Bob's take on the Steelers.

Yes I do. We do the Steelers pregame radio show together. Have for the past 25 years

Outside of any rumors that we see everyday on Twitter, do you know of any players in particular the Steelers may be eyeing in this draft? Guys to watch for.
Gerry Dulac
3:04
Yes.

OK kids, for maybe the first time in chat history, I have exhausted and answered every chat question. And, darn, another one just popped in. But gotta go. Thanx
