Hi Gerry, thanks for the chats!  Much appreciated!  If both Harris and Etienne are gone at #24, which O-linemen do you like.  And does it matter to you if it's tackle, guard or center as long as it's O-line?  Thanks!
Gerry Dulac
11:10
Now, don't discount Javonte Williams at 24. I can't tell you which players, but whoever it is he will be someone who is agile and can move and run block.

11:10
There are still many capable free agents out there. Fisher, Shwartz at OT — Gurly, Bell at RB, etc. Do the Steelers sign anyone, for cheap? Maybe not those guys, just wanted to list a few names.
Gerry Dulac
11:11
No, they're not signing a running back. Certainly not now. And they're not going to sign one of those OTs. They don't have the money to pay the guys you suggest. They will wait for the draft to see what they can get

Good morning Gerry. I'm sure team management expected roster turn over when they decided to make one more push with Ben. But do you think they expected the question marks that exist on the oline leading to the draft? In other words...do you think they are where they expected to be at this point? Thanks.
Gerry Dulac
11:12
I think they expected the turnover on the offensive line, though maybe not with Feiler. What they didn't expect was to have so many holes to open on defense. They went into the offense thinking their biggest adjustments with personnel would be on offense. They did not think JuJu would be back and they were uncertain about Ben.

If JOK is there at 24 and even though it’s a slim chance, if Parsons falls, do you see the Steelers taking one of them? Even if there is a “big 3” RB available?
Gerry Dulac
11:13
No. The Steelers need immediate starting help at other positions. They need depth at OLB.

Gerry...even the most run of the mill PGA event has wall to wall coverage from Golf Channel early through the major networks. Why do you think the Masters insists on the same broadcast schedule when Palmer was battling Jack? By the time they come on Sunday at 3 somebody who teed off an hour earlier could be in the lead?
Gerry Dulac
11:14
Trust me, it is not the same. And there was no such thing as Golf Channel broadcasting from the early morning back then

Is the 4th or 5th best OT in draft better than the #1 RB in a huge position of need?
Gerry Dulac
11:14
Depends on the grade the Steelers might have on that OT

11:14
Hey Gerry!  What do you think of the Steelers grabbing a C at 24 in the first round and then taking best RB in the second round?  Chubba Hubbard?  Is he flying under the radar at all?  Maybe he's the guy!
Gerry Dulac
11:16
I rule out nothing. I think the Browns should draft Hubbard. Then they would have a Chubba Chubb backfield

I think that some of the problems the Steelers had on offense last year came because the opposing Defense would show 'run defense' trying to get Ben to audible out to a pass play and he would and that was what the Defense really wanted.   Any thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
11:17
If Ben audibled out of run plays to pass plays, it was because he had no faith in the run game. And for good reason.

Gerry...I have a wager against a fellow Steeler fan who says no way we are taking Najee Harris even if he’s available when we pick, I say we are definitely taking him...what say you?
Gerry Dulac
11:17
Hey, you made the bet.

Good morning Gerry what do think about the Steelers drafting daelin Hayes from Notre Dame and is Jesse James coming back to us
Gerry Dulac
11:18
No thanx. I'd rather take Friermuth.

If picks 1-3 go well for the Steelers, and they are able to get a starting RB, LT and Center - their running game (and offense as a whole) could be great if Ben is healthy... or am I dreaming?
Gerry Dulac
11:19
Great is a word I use with much trepidation.

Thanks for the chats! Would you go for quality (keep first round pick) or quantity (trade #1 for multiple picks)? Conversely, would you trade a lower round pick to move up in second round? How quickly does the talent level fall off in this draft? Thanks!
Gerry Dulac
11:20
Any time you can move up in their second round without sacrificing a No. 1 pick you're doing just fine. But they are not trading a No. 1 for multiple picks.

Gerry- thanks for the chats.  Love your work a d very much appreciate it during these long off seasons.
the Steelers traded a pick last year for Williamson. I thought he was a reasonable back up at LB but I have not heard a peep about him this off-season. Is he still on the roster?  Any idea what the plan is for him?  Thanks!
Gerry Dulac
11:20
Well, he's not on the roster because he's a free agent. And I don't expect him to be re-signed to the roster this year

Gerry,  who do you like in the Masters & I feel my boy Mickelson needs to give up the PGA in favor of the Champions.  Your thoughts please.

I want OT Jenkins and OC/G Meinertz 1 and 2 in my dream draft...with that start, what do you think of RB Stevenson in the 3rd? That would be a smash mouth offense in the making...
Gerry Dulac
11:21
I suggest you dream about something else.

Hello . Thank you as always for the chat . Nelson mentioned yesterday in an interview, and I am paraphrasing, that he and his agents approached Steelers for contract extension and Steelers told him that either to find trade partner or he will be released . Seems to me that it the Nelson wanted an extension but after refusal wanted to leave . Am I reading it wrong ? Thank you very much .
Gerry Dulac
11:22
No. Simple -- the Steelers weren't interested in giving him an extension. Not with the situation they were in with the salary cap. They knew either Nelson or Haden would have to do, and they weren't about to cut Haden loose.

Hi Gerry, in hindsight do you think that we should have kept Leveon and should have rid ourselves of AB. In 2018 the Steelers were the most prolific offense in the league.
Gerry Dulac
11:23
That's water under the bridge. Bell put the Steelers in an untenable situation and they did the right thing.

Thanks for the chats Gerry.  I dont see safety being thrown around as a need in this draft.  If they dont pick up edmunds 5th year doesnt it become a huge need next year?
Gerry Dulac
11:23
They will worry about next year in 2022
Yates
11:23
Bigger need - 3rd OLB or another ILB?
Gerry Dulac
11:24
That's the million-dollar question. Because of the premium they place on OLBs, I'd say that's the choice
Leon
11:24
Hey Gerry, best guess - does the team draft a RB to start or sign a vet and patch it together with him?
Gerry Dulac
11:24
They aren't interested in patching things together.
