Hi Gerry, do you anticipate the NFL easing any reporting restrictions related to COVID? Would be nice if you guys were able to have locker room access, etc.
Gerry Dulac
11:25
I think you will see things ease a lot once we get to the regular season.

In your opinion, does canceling the combine make it harder to evaluate talent or are pro days enough?
Gerry Dulac
11:26
Of course it does. It gives coaches and GMs less chance to further evaluate players and interview them. The interviews are an important part of the combine process.

What's with all the trade noise going around the team this year, we should've traded for Darnold?!?! FOR WHAT?!  I'm pretty sure we won more games with a 3rd string QB than he did in a year!

Any insights on this Steve Nelson saga on why Colbert/Tomlin couldn't work something out in keeping Nelson.

Hi Gerry,  there is something strange about the Nelson situation.  Knowing that the Steelers have no depth at CB, and don't want to draft one, it is a bit surprising that they didn't at least try to do a pay cut or extension with him.  Were there any personnel or locker room issues not made public that lead them to release him?
Gerry Dulac
11:28
There were no locker room or personal issues involving Nelson that I was ever made aware of. Keep in mind what I said a couple weeks ago about every FA decision. It's about money.

Do the Steelers just like Layne and Pierre enough to let Nelson go? Is there something else below the surface with 22?
Gerry Dulac
11:28
No.

Hi Gerry - besides $ was their any other reason for the Nelson divorce?
Gerry Dulac
11:28
$$

Steelers and Buckeye fan here-  are you hearing any buzz re Brett Myers (C) or Baron Browning/Pete Werner (LBs) to the Steelers in the middle to later rounds?
Gerry Dulac
11:28
No I haven't, sorry.

11:29
Do you think the guys coming out that opted out of last yr will hurt them in the draft?
Gerry Dulac
11:29
I honestly don't think so. It might cause them to drop a couple spots, but nothing drastic.

I do not understand why so many people think the Steelers are going to take an OLB in the first round. I thought Alex Highsmith did a pretty nice job in his rookie season. Are the Steelers not confident in him to take the next step?
Gerry Dulac
11:30
They're not going to take an OLB in the first round. And, yes, they like Highsmith. He is ahead of where Bud Dupree was after his first year

Gerry are you going to be in Augusta this week?
Gerry Dulac
11:30
No. Darn

In reading the questions in your chat you would think that Steven Nelson was the 2nd coming of Rod Woodson....

Yes, Dupree will be missed but how many teams have 2 great edge rushers?  I can't think of many.  We still have one of the best, if not the best.  Watt was great when Dupree was average, I think we will be fine at OLB.  Agree?
Gerry Dulac
11:31
They will miss Dupree, but they will be fine.

Hi Gerry - I like Spillane but do you think he is an NFL starter?
Gerry Dulac
11:31
I think he is capable, but I don't think he is dynamic. I need to see more

I always thought Conner was serviceable at RB when he had even minimal blocking. Any thoughts of drafting 2 olinemen with first 2 picks or 2 of first 3?
Gerry Dulac
11:32
I think Conner is serviceable but is nothing more than what most teams expected when he came out of Pitt -- a nice No. 2 back.
SteelChuck
11:32
Hi Gerry - if OL or RB they like aren't there what do you expect is next position they would go in Rd 1?  Just BPA?
Gerry Dulac
11:33
I think you will see them address one of those positions for sure. There are enough options at 24 that they won't be reaching.

11:33
With the current OL roster who in your opinion is the best run blocker & who is the worst?
Gerry Dulac
11:34
DeCastro is probably the best. Dotson has a chance to be a good one. And the jury is out on the others.
GM
11:34
Players like 30, 98, etc that were let go or not resigned still haven't found a new team.  Is that because of the current cap or were they just that sub par?
Gerry Dulac
11:34
The reduced cap has caused a lot of players to still be team-less.

Steelers have a habit of getting great WRs late in the draft. With JuJu on a one-year deal and Washington at the end of his, chances the Steelers take a shot at a late drafted WR this year?
Gerry Dulac
11:34
They never pass up a good skill player.

How is Bush progressing in his rehab?
Gerry Dulac
11:35
I guess OK. I don't think there are any setbacks. But we won't know till minicamp or training camp.
