Have you ever been to Mexico Gerry? Huge ( HUGE) Steelers fandom here. When will they come here and play a game? Will it happen? Not this year ‘cause of the remodeling of stadiums for soccer (world cup) but do you think it is possible???
Gerry Dulac
10:40
I have not, but I have been led to believe the next international game they play will be in Mexico
Hal
10:41
Gerry, do you pine for the days when AI takes over all PG chats?
Gerry Dulac
10:41
Haha.

Which local product pick should we expect; Dennis, ford Wheaton, or Parker Washington
Gerry Dulac
10:41
Parker Washington would be a nice pickup in mid rounds

Gerry, how surprised are you by the Steelers' overly active free agency this offseason, and what do you think it says about the Steelers' plans for the draft and this coming season?  Are the Steelers measurably better at this time than the same time last year?
Gerry Dulac
10:43
I am surprised. I did not think they would be as active as last year and they were more active, especially when you consider the two signings at both G and ILB. And, yes, I think they are better now than they were this time last year. Of course, the big reason for that is the improved OL and run game and not having the uncertainty at QB anymore.

If the Team gets 2, or even 3 stud picks who work their way into the starting lineup, is that enough to make them a SB contending team this year? I know Pickett will have a lot to do with it, but it still takes 21 other positions to be good.
Gerry Dulac
10:44
I think they are hoping for one starter and that's at CB. I really don't think any other draft choice will be viewed as an immediate starter, unless it's a top-tier LT

10:44
Has George Pickens been putting in the necessary work this offseason to improve his game and move closer to elite status? I ask this because of the Claypool fiasco after his first season.
Gerry Dulac
10:45
I don't know because we're not around the players. We'll find out more once OTAs begin.

Gerry,  As always, thanks for the chats.  This is a trivial question and one I image you have answered before, but here goes:  How did the NFL decide on 30 pre-draft visits (not including local prospects)?  If I'm an NFL team about to invest millions in new talent, why is there a limit?
Gerry Dulac
10:46
You're right, I don't know the answer, but I'm guessing teams probably don't want more than 30 visits. Some don't even use all 30.

This has to be one of the most exciting off-season's in recent Steeler history.  I'm "mocked" out though and can't wait for draft day.  I think the OLine came together last year and with some great additions I see further improvement.  I agree that the defense is were the top 3 pics should be used.  Who do you think the best DL if available at 17?
Gerry Dulac
10:47
Bryon Bresee or Lukas Van Ness...if they're available

Gerry, For years (my entire 46 year life) I feel like the Steelers were defined/identified by their Defense, and even now, the "Steeler Way" seems to be alive and well. But what has happened to our ability to find and draft the MLB position? When it comes to WR, we still seem to snag talent right and left...but other than Shazier we are missing all over the place at MLB. What has caused this "gap" to occur?
Gerry Dulac
10:48
Good question. But the only player they truly tried to fill that position was Devin Bush and that was a mistake.

why release Jamir Jones now?
Gerry Dulac
10:48
Has to be a good reason, eh.

Any insight to why they keep showing interest in Guards? I understand filling the roster with talent but it's not like they can put 4 Guards out there on the O-Line.
Gerry Dulac
10:49
Probably because they thought the guys they brought in are better than the ones they have, excluding James Daniels.

In prior years, are the Steelers' draft board much different than the mock drafts or mock draft simulators that are published?
Gerry Dulac
10:49
Usually

Hi G! Broderick Jones was always gone before 17 in early mocks. Lately most mocks have him go to the steelers at 17. Did his Stock fall, did so many others rise significantly or are those mocks just way off (now or then)?
Gerry Dulac
10:50
Little of each. It will depend how many QBs go in the top 10 or 12.

Will the Steelers allow Kenny Pickett to audible at the line next year?
Gerry Dulac
10:50
You would think.

Gerry, do you have direct knowledge of how Weidl, Khan and Tomlin interact.  For optical reasons it appears Khan and Tomlin more of the decision makers but I dont believe Weidl takes the job as third fiddle.  I think Weidl is a star and making more of the decisions.  Do you have knowledge or can only speculate
Gerry Dulac
10:51
Yes, Mike Tomlin and Omar Khan will be the decision-makers, along with Art Rooney II (only if he vehemently objects). Andy Weidl's input will be on the draft board he has assembled.

Hey G, thanks for the chats each week. Any chance the Steelers take C. Kancey at #17? He seems to be rising up the draft boards some with a good combine effort.
Gerry Dulac
10:52
Nothing ever surprises me Steve

Gerry, with all the FA signings it is easy to believe the Steelers will select the best overall player regardless of the position.  I think they will look at an offensive player like a wide receiver or running back,  what do you think?
Gerry Dulac
10:54
No, they will draft the BPA at a position of need, not at a position that doesn't need help. They're looking for an immediate starter, and the one position that begs for that is CB

Any idea what the FO thinks of Mason Cole? Seems like they feel they can upgrade him.  He was pretty solid last year
Gerry Dulac
10:54
They have no problem w Mason Cole, and neither do I

Hi Gerry…does the release of Jamir Jones possibly signify the Steelers  may agree to terms with Bud Dupree?
Gerry Dulac
10:55
Not sure what it means right now, to be honest. But I wouldn't read into it
