OK kids, we're going to start our chat in just a few minutes, so get ready...
10:53
OK, here we go....

Some skinny kid comes from out of nowhere, hits the crap out of the ball, and almost wins the masters- as a rookie!- and you'd barely know it from the sports pages. What's up with that?
Artie Bridge
10:54
Does Connor's departure increase the likelihood of drafting rb in the first round?
Gerry Dulac
10:54
Drastically

Hi Gerry:  Luv your chats.  I really think the Steelers should try and get Najee Harris, if not for the same height, weight, speed, and last name as Franco.  If so, shouldn't they be leaking another players name that they want at #1?
Gerry Dulac
10:55
They are not in the habit of leaking names .... as far as I know, never. But I'm sure Najee Harris is high on their list.

Thanks for the chats Gerry.  Any scenario where all the top RB and OTs are off the table at 24?  If so where do you think they go since if that happens you could have top ILB and OLB still on the board?
Gerry Dulac
10:56
No. Three RBs haven't gone in the first round in years and I don't expect that to happen, certainly not by No. 24

Hi Gerry;  For all the criticism the Steeler front office gets; wouldn't signing Bud Dupree to a 5 year 85mil contract coming off ACL surgery and never playing one down or even a training camp been reckless?  I actually agree with letting him go under those injury circumstances.
Gerry Dulac
10:58
Even if he didn't injure his ACL, they weren't going to sign him to a multi-year deal. The best they would have done was put the franchise tag on him again, and that's only if the salary cap wasn't flattened this season. The long-term deal is going to T.J. Watt. No team can afford contracts like that to two players at the same position.

Morning oh prescient one...  Will Zalatoris; for real..  kudos to Hidecki & notably his caddy, RESPECT.. question: given all the one-yr wonders making the team, have any stood out as having a chance??  thx fer ya time
Gerry Dulac
10:59
Not sure I understand your reference to one-hit wonders...

Gerry, while I appreciate our heritage of excellent centers, don’t you think a bookend left tackle should be a bigger priority to protect Ben or his heir apparent?  Big Al may be done and centers can be had in later rounds?
Gerry Dulac
11:01
Well, you have a potential left tackle in Chuks Okorafor, who was pretty darn good at right tackle. Do you remember any game when he struggled with another player last season???? The answer is no. But they don't have a starting center. I get your point, I don't argue. But they need a starting center. And there's none left n free agency

Gerry, will the Steelers (as a team) skip voluntary workouts like Denver and Seattle?  How does this effect the team's preparations and training?
Gerry Dulac
11:02
I don't know if that will happen, maybe, but I think they will be reduced if they do have them and I think you will see no veterans being required to attend.

11:03
The Steelers seem to be signing a lot of "developmental projects."  Are they just camp bodies?  Do they see better potential than what they might be able to find after the draft?  Is the next James Harrison in there somewhere?
Gerry Dulac
11:03
Most are just camp bodies with some small element of intrigue. You never know when someone like James Harrison comes out of the crop.

Gerry, do you think the opt-out guys are more of a stay-away for the Steelers draft, or do they go off of the 2019 tape, and draft them based on that? Interesting dilemma! Thank You!
Gerry Dulac
11:04
Teams have nothing else to go on other than their 2019 tape, unless they want to base it on some workouts in shorts, which they don't.

So can you tell us what actually happens to a team when they are over the cap....and can a team just pay a fine and continue on ?
Gerry Dulac
11:05
No.

11:05
Is there much of a possibility that Ben plays more than just one more year?  I would like to see that happen.
Gerry Dulac
11:06
I guess there is always a possibility and I'm not going to say that will happen. But, because they gave him just one year of salary, I expect this to be his last season
KW
11:06
This has probably been reported, but I missed it (apologies if you are repeating yourself).  Is the current plan to allow 100% fan attendance at Heinz Field this coming season?
Gerry Dulac
11:06
That's what Roger Goodell said -- all fans at all stadiums in 2021
Marcus
11:06
What position do you think the Steelers take in Rd1?
Gerry Dulac
11:06
RB or OL
Mel Kiper, SR.
11:07
Gerry, first thanks for the chats. Second, how likely would it be that the Steelers trade down or out of the first round to gain draft capital considering they have immediate holes to fill at RB, LT, C, and ILB and there probably aren't many quality free agents left that they could afford?
Gerry Dulac
11:07
They won't trade out of the first round, especially at No. 24
Just a fan
11:07
What is the percentage likelihood that the Steelers bring back Avery Williamson or Jesse James after the draft is over? I know it depends on the draft results, but what does your intuition tell you today?
Gerry Dulac
11:08
At this point, I severely doubt Williamson is coming back. But I thought Jesse James would be a likely addition as a No. 2 TE

11:08
Gerry, During the upcoming three day draft are teams permitted to trade players besides draft picks?
Gerry Dulac
11:08
Sure

Hey Gerry! Always an exciting time trying to guess who the Steelers will take in the draft. RB and Center are what i see as the top priorities followed by Tackle. Dickerson seems to be the best C out there. Would you take him in round 1 with his injury history, and maybe one of the top three RBs last until pick 55? He seems a bit risky.
Gerry Dulac
11:09
I would not take him at No. 24, not with his injury history. I think he can be had in the second round. I also like Humphrey and Meinerz possibly in the second round.

Any oberservations on Michigan ILB Cam McGrone... He had a eye opening 2019 & the 2020 B10 season was... forget about it... there in rd. 4... take him?
Gerry Dulac
11:09
None. Haven't looked at him. Sorry
