OK kids, I'm ready to go, so we may as well get started. As they say at the Masters, "Fore please...."

Did Chandon Sullivan sign anywhere? If not, why haven't steelers pulled trigger? Thought he played extremely well down stretch and wouldn't think price would be that high.
Gerry Dulac
9:55
I think you might be a little misguided with your thoughts, at least in terms of thinking he played extremely well down the stretch. I certainly don't think he is a priority for the Steelers, which should be obvious. And here's a little tip: A simple google search will tell you if he has signed somewhere, which he hasn't. Which should also be another clue to your earlier thought.

Gerry, links or tree-lined, in general?  I would say links, for the all-important vistas, and the proliferation of leaves in the fall.  Your thoughts, if any?
Gerry Dulac
9:55
Just not a lot of trees.

I Promise this is last time I kick the Mason can down road But.... Did you ever hear any rumors that Coach T had someone different he wanted to draft in 2018 third round instead of Mason?? Thanks Gerry.
Gerry Dulac
9:56
No. In fact, I can tell you they were going to draft Mason in the second round but they needed a receiver and they took his college teammate, James Washington, instead

Can you explain the situation with lower end of the roster players like Steelers receiver Dez Fitzpatrick. It seems like these guys never have a realistic shot of making the team. Why do they even bother?
Gerry Dulac

How is the Russell Wilson signing not the Steelers repeating their Mitch Trubisky mistake? The Steelers signed journeyman Trubisky who’d also been rejected by 2 teams and immediately buried their own better, younger quarterback, Mason Rudolph on the depth chart. With Wilson, same thing, but now they bury both Mason Rudolph and even younger Kenny Pickett who had a good record and was a potential long term starter. Mason and Kenny proved the Steelers were mistaken with the Trubisky signing, so why did the Steelers repeat it, falling in love with an older journeyman player over their own younger QBs (but worse driving them off)?
Gerry Dulac

I would not compare Russell Wilson, a nine-time Pro Bowl and Super Bowl-winning QB, to Mitch Trubisky. And poor Kenny Pickett -- he did it to himself. Where have I heard that before.

Hi Gerry, I'm a big fan of Cooper DeJean. I think he would be a great pick in the first round.
Gerry Dulac
9:58
I like him too, but I don't think the Steelers have interest in a CB in the first round.

Good morning, Mr. Dulac and thanks for your time.  Hats off to you on your great call last week to keep an eye out for Mr. Shipley at the Masters. Excellent.  Also, Has Mr. Rooney had much to say about the new way the Steelers are handling their front office business these days? You know a complete break from past practices.
Gerry Dulac
9:59
Thanx, and no he hasn't, other than to say at the other meetings he likes all the moves made and where the team is right now.
One Last Masters Question
9:59
Gerry, who would you select to replace Jack, Gary and Tom (although he recently replaced Arnie) as Honorary Starters?  Crenshaw, Langer, and ???
Gerry Dulac
10:00
I think Watson will be at it for a while. And Crenshaw would be an obvious because of his love of the history of the game and his two green jackets.

Gerry, as always thanks for the chats, realistically speaking should the Steelers pursue Aiyuk or look to the draft? I know Khan is great with numbers but I think taking on the future contract could set the Steelers back. Not to mention what Justin Fields may as for!
Gerry Dulac
10:01
They would love to pursue Aiyuk, and have, but that doesn't mean the 49ers want to trade him. That's what they have wanted to do -- find a big-time veteran receiver to pair w George Pickens.

Steelers did 3 trades this off season did Tomlin have a say in those trades or is that all khan
Gerry Dulac
10:02
He has a say in all personnel matters.
Chris from Williamsburg VA
10:02
Gerry your thoughts on Aiyuk, do you feel they should look to the draft and avoid the big contract? I think they should re-structure Fields, lock him up and build the future at QB, what say yo kind Sir?
Gerry Dulac
10:03
I think they will look to re-doing Fields deal and sign for a couple more years. They are NOT going to pick up his option.
The Quest For 7
10:03
Gerry, the Steelers brought in Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. However, Wilson better days are clearly behind him, and Justin Fields was 10-28 in three years as the Bears starting QB. What are the chances the Steelers take a QB if McCarthy or Penix is on the board at 1:20?
Gerry Dulac
10:03
None
Arthur not Art
10:03
Gerry, thank you for your work, your time and the chat. Since they have an aging, less mobile vet that holds the ball too long and a young, mobile vet that can't read defenses, shouldn't their plan going into the draft be to get plug and play starters at C and OT if they're in win now mode.  It will depend on how the draft plays out but if they are in win now mode, shouldn't they try come away with a starting OT and C with the first two picks. WR2 is another huge hole they created but with the depth in this draft, can't that spot be filled with one of the 3rd round picks? It just seems everyone is convinced they're going WR by round 2. If the draft plays out well for them and historically starting Cs are available in Rnd 2 it seems they should target the OT in Rnd 1 and C in Rnd 2, even if they have to move up to get him. Do you think that's the strategy going in or are they really set on targeting a WR before Rnd 3. Thank you.
Gerry Dulac
10:04
There is only one position where they have to find a plug-and-play guy, and that's center. They don't have one. I will remind everyone they have two starting tackles -- Dan Moore and Broderick Jones. They don't NEED one. Doesn't mean they don't want one.

Have you or PG ever asked the Steelers to observe the Draft Live from their War Room?
Gerry Dulac
10:05
I have not, probably because I already know the answer
Hogan
10:05
Gerry, yea or nay on Totteridge?  I think they could have done better with that plot of land, although there are some good holes......
Gerry Dulac
10:05
Yea

Volunteers vs Hostages - did that come out after AB or LB?
Gerry Dulac
10:06
Pretty much
10:07
Guest10:06If a top QB would fall to the Steelers would that change their plans?
Nope
Danny
10:07
I seen in dan rooneys book that noll had final saw about the draft does that go for cowher an Tomlin as well
Gerry Dulac
10:08
It was a little different then. They really didn't have a GM in those days. But Noll also lost out on some discussions. For example, he wanted Robert Newhouse in 1972 and Dick Haley and Art Rooney Jr. wanted Franco Harris. And you saw how that turned out.

Your thoughts on drafting Barton at Center who hasn't played the position since Freshman year vs drafting JPJ?
Gerry Dulac
10:09
Let me tell you right now -- that doesn't matter to the Steelers. And you might find out shortly what the Steelers think about him.

Hi Gerry, I know you're probably tired of the Brandon Aiyuk trade rumors. But would a fair deal be the Steelers swapping 1st round picks with the 49ers? #20 for #31, and maybe throw in a 3rd rounder in 2025.
