Ok kids, lets get started w our chat....Go!!

Hi Gerry:  Thanks for the Chats:  Pickett has been dropping from the upper half of first round mock draft lists like a stone.  Is it the hand size thing?  Also, is Colbert showing us his biggest sleight of hand ever with all these QB visits?  I luv it so he can slip in an elite DL or OL at #20.
Gerry Dulac
2:07
No, it's not about the hand, it's more about the quality of the QB class. As I've said many times, it's just not very good in terms of finding a high-caliber NFL QB, let alone a sure-fire one. In any other year, none of these guys might not be a No. 1 pick. I'd be shocked if more than 2 QBs went in the first round and would be less shocked if none went in the first round. Not saying that will happen, just saying it wouldn't shock me. There's a reason EVERYONE is saying it's a weak year for QB -- because it is. And that talk starts with NFL scouts, GMs and coaches

Gerry, What do you think of E J Perry as 6th round pick to be QB for camp and possibly developing into future back-up?
Gerry Dulac
2:08
I'll be honest, haven't seen any of him to evaluate him. But it's more likely that's where the Steelers will draft a QB -- on day 3, somewhere beween rounds 4-7

Hi Gerry.  Lets concentrate on  fixing the defensive line and draft best possible player in each round.
Gerry Dulac
2:08
I'm with ya Todd
Matteo
2:08
Do you believe the Steelers would select Andrew Booth at 20?
Gerry Dulac
2:09
No I dont. And I hope not. Not what they need to do.
Matteo
2:09
Have you heard any rumblings regarding who the Steelers really like this draft?
Gerry Dulac
2:10
That's hard to pinpoint. Probably know a little more this time next week,
Matteo
2:10
Hi Gerry, what is your prediction for our first round pick a week out?
Gerry Dulac
2:11
Defensive line or WR. They didn't pay all that attention and spend all that money on the offensive line in free agency for nothing. That eased the urgency to improve the offensive line.
Rodney J
2:11
Does Louis Riddick have a real opportunity to become the GM of the Pittsburgh Steelers
Gerry Dulac
2:11
I don't think so at all
Tom in NC
2:11
If they don’t take a DL in round can we assume that Tuitt is coming back?
Gerry Dulac
2:13
That shouldn't factor into their reasoning at all. They need to restock the line with young quality studs to improve the quality of depth and infuse some youth into the DL

everyone is saying Mike Tomlin is a better coach than Bill Cowher, my argument on this Mike Tomlin has Ben Roethlisberger for more years and Bill Cowher. Showing
Gerry Dulac
2:13
Very good argument by you
Matteo
2:13
There tends to be a strong correlation of the Steelers selecting a prospect in the first round that Tomlin/Colbert were present at for their pro day. Do you believe this to be the case this year?
Gerry Dulac
2:14
It's more than a strong correlation, It's about a proven fact

What do you make of this new WR market?  Deebo Samuel reportedly requested a trade.  Is this a sign of the new NFL where the players have more "control."
Gerry Dulac
2:15
They may not have more control, but they seek more control. The market was set so high because those teams traded some of the best if not best WRs in the league to avoid paying them.
Matteo
2:15
There are rumours allegedly from the Steelers organization that the Steelers are interested in Lewis Cine round 1. Have you heard any rumblings of this? I really hope these are just “rumours”
Gerry Dulac
2:16
There are no such rumors emanating from the Steelers organization. Trust me, nobody really knows what they are thinking. They are just surmising without factual basis
Rodney J
2:16
Joe Haden still a free agent is it possible that he could rejoin the Pittsburgh Steelers?
Gerry Dulac
2:17
Yes, and it's possible

2:17
Hi Gerry-  What to make about the over-heated WR market?  Do you move Claypool to slot and draft your future # 1 in the first two rounds?
Gerry Dulac
2:17
I think you will see the Steelers draft a WR within the first two rounds, regardless what they want to do with Claypool
Jay

Hello Gerry, happy wednesday.  Are you in the camp of "bunch of stars and serviceable players" or "Very good contributors across the board"?  I almost feel we have enough stars we need to pay/keep and just plug in solid contributors, IE more doubles and less home run or strike outs.
Gerry Dulac
2:19
Every team in the league has serviceable players who are big, strong, fast, can run, jump -- do it all. But it's the team with the most elite players, particularly QB, and the co/aches who put those serviceable players in the best position to succeed that are successful

Good Day Sir!
It seems to me that the Steelers big free agency spend was merely to make the team functional at the basics but not good enough to endanger a couple of losing seasons, and the higher draft picks (QB?).
What is your impression?
Gerry Dulac
2:24
It was done to make the OL and ILB position better. That was their intention. It was more than making them functional
Kris
2:24
Reports of DJ skipping the Steelers get together in Fl to attend a similar session with Mac Jones is concerning. I get the mind games that go on with players in search of a new contract but this almost feels like tampering.
With only 2 receivers on the roster the team obviously cannot move them out unless the player opts to sit out to force a trade, right?
Gerry Dulac
2:25
No player is going to sit out and force a trade or new contract unless he is an elite player, and DJ certainly isn't one of those.
Cody Turner
2:25
Gerry, who do you feel that would be the most impactful in year 1 if drafted? 1. Jordan Davis, 2. Devontae Wyatt, 3. Derek Stingley 4. Jameson Williams 5. Trevor Penning?
Gerry Dulac
2:25
Four of those five.
Kris
2:25
With a new GM...
If, by the trade deadline this year, it looks like we are in line for a top 5-10ish pick do you think the Steelers look to trade their star/solid but ageing/contract year players for picks to jump start the rebuild that will obviously be coming at that point with that kind of record?
I appreciate loyalty to players but this is a Business!
Seems like a lot more teams are willing to make those in season trades if they hope to be SB contenders with the “forget (sp) them picks” Rams mentality paying off…
Gerry Dulac
2:26
They have never done that before and they don't use the word rebuild. Last year was as extreme an example as you will see with them but that was because of the flattened salary cap.

Where does our strong safety come from in your opinion draft or FA. And who do you think they want if a FA or draft? Do you think they would have preferred to find someone by now.
