LB Troy Andersen in 2nd round a waste with Bush and Jack already on roster? Andersen seems like a football player still ascending as an inside/middle linebacker. His combine measurables for speed were super high. What if Bush does not get 5th year offer?

The Steelers already have two "mature QB prospects" in Trubitzburgh and Rudolph. Wouldn't it be a better team improvement for them to draft higher rated prospects in first round at either offensive and defensive lines or WR and wait on addressing QB later in draft or perhaps next year if Mitch fails to show he is capable enough to give reasons to view him as next franchise QB?

Gerry, you have previously indicated it is very unlikely Steelers take QB1 and would never trade up in Rd1 for QB. Is this your opinion as a long-time beat reporter, or is it based on some inside information?

I said they would never trade up in the first round for one of these QBs, and if they did it would be a waste of a No. 1 pick. And I don't offer frivolous opinions

Hi Gerry, the way things are shaking out, Chase Claypool is a pivotal piece of the equation. I hope, and do you think, he will put in the work to realize his potential? Sometimes raw talent isn’t enough

That is correct. He can work all he wants, but he needs a purpose beyond his brand. Let's hope the Claypool we saw in year 1 is more what we will say this year, not the guy we saw last year

When Steelers look to trade for players or sign players cut from other teams, how much do they utilize their older draft evaluations?  Or do they see 'what have you done lately' as more valuable?

Actually, I think they rely too much on their previous draft evaluations instead of what the player has done in the NFL. We have seen too many players brought in because they were former No. 1 picks -- Justin Gilbert, Taco Charlton, Paxton Lynch -- who have done nothing

Gerry, Do you know if Tuitt has shown up for the Steelers offseason workouts which started this week?  I know they are voluntary but after missing all of last season the Steelers FO needs to know what kind of shape he is in before the draft. Thank you.

Why would they? I think you will see Seattle or Carolina or someone who really needs a QB jump all over him,. Shame on the Browns for how they handled the whole thing w him and Deshaun Watson. Didn't their owner, Jimmy Haslam, learn anything all those years he was a Steelers investor?

There will be an early run on offensive tackles and edge rushers. Always is. Everybody wants a guy to pressure the QB and everybody wants a guy to prevent the QB from being pressured.
