Any chance the Steelers add a veteran tackle (or two) like Fischer from the Chiefs after the draft?
Gerry Dulac
11:43
Not expecting that.

Etienne, Humphrey, Derrisaw, Harris, then either Javonte Williams or potentially a defensive player if the rest are gone. Does that seem realistic?
Gerry Dulac
11:45
Do you mean one of them in the first round? Yes I do, though not sure if Derrisaw would be there. The others have a chance to be there. But I think you can rest assured they will not take a defensive player in the first round. Maybe not even round 2.

Hi Gerry thanks for the chats! Any chance the Alabama center lasts until pick 55? Have you heard any updates on his injury history? Should the Steelers take him if available or is he too big of an injury risk?
Gerry Dulac
11:46
I doubt he will last that long, but his injury history is clear and unchanging and I'm sure that will hurt his draft stock. I have been told it will.

Gerry, which college TE prospects do you think the Steelers have on their draft board in Rounds 3/4?  Ebron is a short timer, need to sign Jesse James to a two year deal for stability, and draft a good college player for TE position for the future.  Gentry and Rader are practice squad players at best.
Gerry Dulac
11:50
I'm not so sure Gentry and Rader are practice squad guys "at best," though I acknowledge Gentry needs to show something this year or he's out. I'm not so sure there will be a tight end as high as you think, but if so I think Hunter Long would be the best choice.

Hi Gerry -   Interest in your thoughts - agree or disagree with the following:  0% chance Steelers draft a QB.  50% or higher chance the RB pick does not occur in RD 1 o 2.  50% or higher chance the 1st pick on OL is center.  Thanks.
Gerry Dulac
11:50
I have a 100 percent chance of not trying to compute those percentages.

Assuming Colbert, Tomlin, and Rooney disagree on the 1st pick who wins the argument?
Gerry Dulac
11:52
They don't disagree. They will either be in full agreement or they will move to the next player they all agree on. But, let me be clear, while Art Rooney II is the boss, he leaves the personnel choices to Tomlin and Colbert, unless he is strongly opposed for some reason.

Hi Gerry, it appears that the Steelers can get a quality OL in the draft without committing a first round pick.  Although most draft watchers think they will take a RB in the first round, if the top 3 RBs are all still available at pick #24, should the Steelers trade down for a 2nd and a third round pick, or should they grab the best CB still available?
Gerry Dulac
11:53
A cornerback? Really? With their history? Forget it. But I agree a solid OT can be had in the second round.

Would you rank Javonte Williams ahead of Harris and Etienne?
Gerry Dulac
11:53
Not both of them. But depends what you're looking for.

Do you think Landon Dickerson’s injury history is serious enough that some teams will remove him from their board and thus won’t even consider him?
Gerry Dulac
11:54
That won't happen

If 78 returns, can you see us drafting or getting another LT to provide competition for the starting job?
Gerry Dulac
11:54
If 78 returns -- and that's a huge IF -- it wouldn't happen until after the draft. Right now, I don't see it happening at all

Gerry I’m a huge Big Ben fan however he has been atrocious in the playoffs for the past decade. Tomlin gets the blame but Ben has been a turnover machine in the playoffs. 7 turnovers in his last two playoff games. Would you agree the Steelers playoff failures are more on Ben than Tomlin?
Gerry Dulac
11:54
Nope.

Gerry - Why do you constantly bang the drum for a first round RB when said RB will be running behind a below-average OL for most of his rookie contract?   A good OL with an average RB is far more effective than a good RB behind a below average OL.
Gerry Dulac
11:56
I tend to disagree. That's like saying great receivers make an average QB better. False. A great quarterback makes average receivers better.

Hi- With Tomlin’s extension- what’s your take on how he and staff have developed/gotten the most out of talent on the team. With shortened time that teams get to develop players- this seems paramount to modern coaching. Thanks
Gerry Dulac
11:57
I think people tend to overestimate the Steelers talent instead of evaluating how the Steelers do a good job of finding players to fit the system they employ

H Gerry: if Jayson Oweh fell to them at 24 do you think the Steelers would rethink their strategy? Thanks.
Gerry Dulac

I sure hope not.

We typically get more active in FA post draft.  With all the needs, do you see that trend picking up this year?
Gerry Dulac
11:58
They will see how they did in the draft, did they address what they need, and use that to decide what spots still need addressed with FAs.
Ok, kids, we're out of time. Thanx for the questions. Draft time nears.
