Hi Gerry. Thanks for the time and chat. First, an observation/grievance if you’ll allow - the volume of fans and national media that are still stuck on Rodgers’ “indecision” boggles my mind. He’s returning – it’s been reported he’s talking to the team and he’s training. By now, everyone should realize he’s not signing until after voluntary OTA’s. Live with it. If he signs earlier, he still won’t be here until then. The benefits are Howard gets more reps and the City could get a $20M-$40M economic impact from a home playoff game. Reality is, there are no better options if they want to win this season and as a STH, I’m glad this has been their approach. Continue to build the team then sell all your draft picks if you must when you’re convinced there’s a franchise QB available. We fans should think of this drama as a sequel, enjoy the draft - a once in a lifetime event for the City, and R-E-L-A-X. Now the question. The most interesting QB storyline to me is who they pick and when. If it’s more than just a camp a

Did you say "relax?" Oh man, that's asking a lot of the fan base. As for Rodgers, continuing to "wait" for him is bad optics, but they are because they believe he is coming back. They are not continuing to talk to him on a weekly if not daily basis merely to discuss possible retirement sites in Florida.

Good morning Gerry. Is Broderick Jones's career in jeopardy due to that neck injury?
Gerry Dulac
10:50
No. They don't believe so

What 2nd year player do you expect to take the biggest jump in performance this year?
Gerry Dulac
10:51
Derrick Harmon
Josh
10:51
Are the Steelers concerned about tackle as much as the media is making it out to seem?
Gerry Dulac
10:51
Concerned is a strong word.

If Jones injury will prevent him from playing, shouldn't the Steelers draft a tackle in round one?  A lot of good WR prospects in rounds 2 and 3.
Gerry Dulac
10:52
That is a possibility

People seem fixated on the Steelers being "stuck" at 21, like they can't get a great player there. Seems shortsighted to me, especially since they have so much capital that they should be able to move up in the first or second rounds if they desire? What say you? Thanks for the great coverage!
Gerry Dulac
10:53
I say you're right. They didn't stockpile those picks merely to increase participation at rookie minicamp

Happy Draft Eve, Gerry.  In terms of using all of their draft capital, are you in favor of them using their 1st 5 picks and leveraging their following 7 picks to move up and/or get more picks next year or is that not realistic?
Gerry Dulac
10:54
I'm in favor of doing what's necessary to get better players. And trading day 3 picks does not get you the potential bang as trading the day 1 or day 2 picks

If Kenyon Sadiq is available when the Steeler's pick would he be an option with Pat and Mt. Washington already on the roster? Sadiq was one player who jumped off the screen when I watched college football last season.

All I can tell you is they really like him and he will cause some discussion in the draft room if he's still there at 21

Hi Gerry. Is the new staff's view of Roman Wilson similar to the previous staff? I know they only have 4 WR's signed and there is a need need for an influx of talent at the position but isn't guard a bigger void, a more critical need, and should be the pick in Rnd 1 given the WR depth of this class and capital they possess to move up in Rnd 2 if necessary? Thank you.
Gerry Dulac

Let's everyone keep in mind that Mike McCarthy is an offensive-minded coach who calls the plays. He wants and needs as many weapons as he can get and only has two WRs.

I'm assuming the greatest Steeler not drafted by the team was Bettis.  Are there any other players in the debate?
Gerry Dulac
10:57
Can't think of any that come close
Matt
10:57
ultimately who did you think the Steelers take with pick one? Or who is it down to
Gerry Dulac
10:58
I'd say there are eight or nine players they will consider, depending how the round unfolds and where there are runs. I'd say there are three they would REALLY like.
TS

Gerry simple Q. Are the Steelers interested in Ty Simpson?
Gerry Dulac
10:59
No, not until at least the third round and maybe the third day -- if he's still around. I think they like other guys
Jim
10:59
I remain concerned that the Steelers defense will not be able to effectively stop the run.  Do you think one of the Steelers two first picks should be expended on an interior defensive lineman?  Thanks.
Gerry Dulac
11:00
No. Not enough good interior prospects. But I think you might see one in the third round
Andrew in ATL
11:00
Do you see a trade up in the 1st round this year for the Steelers? It would be fun to see them trade with the Rams to get Ioane at pick 13. One pick in front of the Ravens.
Gerry Dulac
11:00
I think the likelihood of a trade up in the first round is as high as it's ever been
Grant aka markaboly jr
11:01
Sup garry who we think is gonna be the first round pick for the leers this year.. if they had a brain they would trade some of their 12 picks and try to get higher in the first round to get csrnell tate or lone the tackle from psu
Gerry Dulac
11:01
I think they have a brain
Matt
11:01
Hey Gerry. feel like we should just invest in oline early and build in the trenches? what do you think there
Gerry Dulac
11:02
McCarthy needs and wants weapons. They've spent the past three drafts building the trenches and it's paid off.
Mario from SC
11:02
Assuming a trade up doesn't happen. Based on who you think will be available, who is the most likely pick? My guess is Omar Cooper Jr. based on familiarity
Gerry Dulac
11:02
That's not a bad guess at all
TS
11:02
If they moved up in the 1st round who do you think they would be targeting?
Gerry Dulac
11:03
Depends how high they are willing to go
Arthur not Art
11:03
Will they trade up to 13 for Ioane to fill that void and take that option away from BAL?
Gerry Dulac
11:03
I don't think they would have to go that high to get Ioane.
